You can get a great view of all the coasters with a ride up the Sky Tower and enjoy the parks memorabilia collection at the top. There is a lot of variety in the types of coasters at the park as SFMM has been battling Cedar Point for a number of years to claim the largest coaster collection.
In 2011 SFMM regained the title including the addition of America's first Intamin Zac Spin, The Green Lantern. A recent refurb also has turned Superman The Escape into Superman: Krypton Coaster providing the option of being launched forwards or backwards. Apocalypse (a woodie from GCI) is a vast improvement over its' predecessor, Psyclone. Bolliger and Mabillard designed four of the park's coasters including Tatsu and Riddler's Revenge which many consider to be the world's best Flying and Stand-Up coasters. Many parks would be proud to have the other two B&M offerings of Batman: The Ride and Scream. And there are plenty of other quality coasters X2 is the only 4D coaster in the US that some consider rough but its' uniqueness can not be denied. Goliath is the tallest full circuit coaster in the park. Colossus (a dueling woodie that used to be a world record holder), Ninja (Arrow Suspended), Revolution (Schwarzkopf), Viper (Arrow multi-looper) and Gold Rusher (mine Train) round out the roster of adult coasters Deja Vu and X2 are two problematic coasters in terms of capacity and wait times.

| Food |
| Johnny Rockets, Papa Johns and Panda Express have locations in the park. Food etc by the base of the Superman Tower has multiple options under one air conditioned roof including sushi, fried chicken, chicken strips, hot dogs, turkey legs and Mexican. Mooseburger Lodge offers an all you can eat buffet. Longhorn BBQ in the Movie District is fairly new to SFMM but gets good reviews. SFMM is also one of the few SF parks that offers grilled corn on the cob at the Corn Cart (Gotham City area). |

| The park is open year round with daily operation April through August. September to March the park is generally only open on weekends and weekdays during holiday weeks. |

| Access & Location |
SFMM is most easily accessible by car and directly off Interstate 5 (I-5).
SFMM lists the following public transportation options on their website, but involves multiple transfers and is time consuming
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Metro Red Line – North Hollywood 757 Express route:
From Downtown Los Angeles, take the Metro Red Line to the North Hollywood Station.
Then take the North Hollywood 757 Express bus to the McBean Regional Transit Station (MRTC).
From there connect to a Santa Clarita Transit routes 3 & 7 to Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Metrolink train:
From Union Station Downtown Los Angeles, take the Metro Link train (Antelope Valley Line) to the Newhall Station.
From there take either Santa Clarita Transit route 1 & 2 or 4 & 14 to the McBean Regional Transit Station (MRTC). Both lines service the Newhall Station every 15 minutes.
From the MRTC, transfer onto a route 3 & 7 directly to Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Note: City of Santa Clarita Transit will honor Metrolink fare ticket when the origin/ destination pair includes the trip to be taken on the bus.

| There are plenty of options within a couple of miles along I-5. Always check hotel reviews as the quality of the hotels in the area varies greatly. |
| Virtual Queue Options |
Three versions of Flash Pass are offered to greatly reduce wait time. Flash Pass is highly recommended when visiting in the heart of the summer and/or if you have limited time at the park.

Six Flags Magic Mountain is located about an hour north of Downtown LA and is known for its large selection of coasters, which are around and on top of the large "mountain" at the center of the park. The park is very coaster heavy and has few shows, no dark rides, and few places to get out of the heat, which can be oppressive during the summer months. The coasters run the gamut from adrenaline machines to tamer ones for the family. Expect long lines at the most popular attractions during weekends and holidays during peak season. Lines are much more manageable in the off season for this year-round park.
The park has expanded their children's area recently, but it is still very limited in what families can do together. Food selection is average for the Six Flags chain, with the normal selection of branded offerings and a semi-full-service eatery. This park is a good addition to a Southern California vacation if riding coasters is a priority.

SFMM is one of the best parks in the world for coaster enthusiasts, but it has a lack of flat rides and family rides. It has a huge variety of roller coasters, some I would say are the best in the world, like X2 and Tatsu, but the park isn't all that family friendly because of the lack of family rides. The food in the park isn't that bad, I liked the food court close to Goliath, especially the mooseburger lodge! The park is quite clean, but the restrooms need to be cleaned more often! My experience in the park is very good, but I wouldn't recommend it for families with children under 48'. Since I love roller coasters, I will give this park 5 twinklers! Make sure you go on a sunny weekday to avoid crowds and closed rides, and use sun screen!

Sadly this is one of those parks that looks amazing but most everything leaves you going meh. For a large park with so many big coasters very few could be considered top 10 rides, to continue on the staff is the least friendly of any of the Six Flags parks i have traveled too. And they have the worst of the Six Flags over priced theme park food I've eaten, basically I will not eat inside the park. Living in Socal I may be jaded, however out of all the local parks I choose to visit this one the least, and when I do it's mainly to ride X2

My one visit to Magic Mountain was a memorable experience in two totally different ways. The coasters at this park are amazing as no one can deny. However the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Park cleanliness was terrible and customer service was horrendous. I would recommend SFMM for the rides, but for nothing else.

iIreally like this park. It is usually busy but with its large variety of rides and rollercoasters, I never find myself waiting too long for any of there coasters. the food is good and they have a lot of great unique rides, like X2. Its a great park that has some imperfections, but there are things for thrill seekers and families alike. I really like this park.

Passable operations and staff stamp this park as an average Six Flags park. Yet, the stress of thrills makes this park stand out above the rest. Even season pass holders usually have to reserve a full day just to be able to get at least one lap on all rides. X2 is a sensation line nothing else in the US, and Tatsu is arguably the best flyer on the planet, although Goliath does have its fans. As of this year, there are no major flat rides. Yet, the coasters are enough to keep you occupied.

If you are a hardcore coaster enthusiast, then Six Flags Magic Mountain is the place for you! Its 18 (Now 17) coasters include: Two 4D coasters, a great hyper coaster, a GCI woody, one of the biggest flying roller coasters in the world, and more! There isn't much for families to do, and the park is in desperate needs of some more flats, but, SFMM is really more of a "Thrill" park than a family park. I highly recommend a visit to this park once in your life!!!

This park has came really far from 6 yrs ago. I hated how cool this park was, but I couldnt enjoy it due to all the gang violence and how bad the park looked. All I can say is I got my money worth this time. I LOVE THIS PARK :-)

Six Flags Magic Mountain is the ultimate showcase of some of the best coasters on the planet. This park is not for the faint of heart. The great fact about this park is the wide variety in coasters. Downsides do include insane temperatures, long lines, and poor food quality and services. You definately need to plan your day out prior to visiting.

I have heard bad things about this park, however when I went I had a great time! (Most of the coasters besides X at the time was a walk on) The coasters are top notch. The selection is among the best in the world. The park does lack in theming, and ride selection. The food, management, and staff do leave a lot to be desired. if you come to the park expecting Disney, you'll be disappointed. If you come just wanting roller coasters, you'll have an amazing day! Just get ready for a lot of walking, and maybe waiting. If you want an amazing atmosphere and a better overall park experience, better make the drive down to Disney.
I personally love Magic Mountain and cannot wait to return.

SFMM is an interesting amusement park. I really enjoy the coasters and there are some nicely themed areas but on the other hand, SFMM cuts corners like crazy which drastically lowers guest satisfaction. While it was a family park in the past, right now SFMM is highly unreccomended for children. The park lacks in family rides especially after removing their best family ride, Log Jammer. SFMM's rides are basically just coasters and SFMM goes way overkill on coasters. Basically, a day at SFMM is waiting in line for coasters.

Forget Cedar Point. While SFMM's coasters may not all be the best of their type, they are generally more unique. In addition, SFMM features the best set of coasters out of any park I've visited. Ride all of them, and you won't find a bad one among the set. Unfortunately, the park offers very little other than roller coasters. If you aren't prepared to spend your day dropping hundreds of feet and being turned upside down repeatedly, you might want to try somewhere else.

The rollercoasters are pretty darn tootin' awesome. The overall park experience, however, is terrible. If you don't mind rampant unsupervised teenagers, rude staff, extremely slow operations, and some of the cheesiest themeing you'll ever experience, give it a go for the coasters.

Went to L.A. and insisted we were goig to magic Mountain. For me, it was one of the Holy grails of parks. We went 2 weeks after tatsu opened and it was awesome along with most of the other coasters. Operations could use a little work, but that was when Six Flags was doing alot of restructering so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Awesome time anyway.

Six Flags Magic Mountain really shows what a "thrill park" should be. Like Great Adventure, Magic Mountain is mostly coasters with a very limited flat ride selection, but with coasters like Tatsu, X2, and Riddler's Revenge, who needs them?!

If you're into any type of coasters this is the park you must visit. The ride operations could be better but the coaster collection at this park is probably the best in the world. If you want tall, fast and adrenaline filled rides then this is the place to be. Just make sure you try to go on a weekday to avoid crowds and in the summer be warned of the hot conditions.

I first visited MM when I was 16 and, frankly, didn't care for it. But years later, it's grown on me. The coaster selection offers a nice variety of, for the most part, very good rides, especially Apocalypse, X2 (which I was shocked that I liked), Goliath, and Tatsu (almost too intense, but what a view). But the park does seem a bit generic, despite some random attempts at theming (a Six Flags trait). It could also use a dark ride to round out its offerings.
