Many consider Cedar Point "The Mecca" for coaster enthusiasts. Millennium Force, Maverick, and Top Thrill Dragster are considered to be the top coasters, but Wicked Twister, Raptor, Mantis, and Gemini still provide fun for many, and Blue Streak is an under-appreciated wood coaster.
But this doesn't mean that the park is lacking in flat rides. Cedar Point has the only fully operational Derby Racer in the world, Cedar Downs Racing Derby. Windseeker, SkyHawk, MaXair, and Shoot the Rapids are new additions to the park, which, along with Power Tower, provide non-coaster thrills. |
| Food |
| Standard amusement-park fare is available all over the park, punctuated with a couple of fast-food chains: Chick Fil-A, Subway, Panda Express, and Johnny Rockets. Midway Market offers all-you-can-eat buffets, and Game Day Grille has some unique food options. Many people like to leave the park and walk to Famous Dave's BBQ in the Marina or head to the Breakers for Perkins or TGIFriday's. For the more sophisticated palate, finer dining with no dress code is available in the Marina at Bay Harbor. |
| Operating Season |
| Daily operation starts around the second weekend in May and continues through Labor Day. |
| Established Seasonal events |
| Halloweekends is the park's Friday-Sunday Halloween event in October. |
| Access & Location |
Cedar Point is located on a Lake Erie peninsula in Sandusky, Ohio. Nearby major cities include Cleveland (60 miles), Toledo (62 miles), Detroit (115 miles), and Columbus (120 miles).
Take the Ohio Turnpike to Exit 118 (US 250) and follow the signs north, or take Exit 110 (SR 4) and follow Route 4 north. Once you get to Sandusky, just follow the signs to the Cedar Point Causeway.
Greyhound (bus) and Amtrak (train) provide connections from Cleveland, but a taxi will be necessary for traveling from the bus/train station to the park.
|
| Nearby Lodging |
| Cedar Point has multiple lodging options on-site. Breakers,
Castaway Bay (includes indoor waterpark), Sandcastle Suites, Lighthouse Point (cabins/cottages), Camper Village (for RVs), and Breakers Express, which is slightly off the grounds. Guests of Cedar Point hotels are allowed entry to the park one hour before the park opens.
Nearly every midlevel hotel chain has substandard and overpriced accomodations near the park. |
| Virtual Queue Options |
In 2012, Cedar Point started implementing their "Fast Lane" (skip the line) service.

Out on a peninsula jutting into Lake Erie is one of the largest amusement parks in terms of absolute size and the number of rides and coasters. The drive along the causeway to the park entrance is considered nirvana for many enthusiasts as it appears you are entering an island inhabited mainly by coasters.
Cedar Point likes their coasters and likes to build them big and fast. Cedar Point has repeatedly set world's records in the fastest and tallest categories.
One drawback in their large coaster collection is the lack of a top-notch wooden coaster.
At first glance it appears there is a lot for a family to do together; however, height restrictions on many flats and even the tamer-looking coasters will preclude children under 48" from many rides. There are several "kids" areas, but not many big rides for shorter children.
While Cedar Point has lost many traditional flat rides, in recent years they have started replacing them with high-octane flat rides.
We recommend staying on property at Hotel Breakers. It's a nice place to rest during the day when the park is at its peak attendance.
We also STRONGLY recommend the "Fast Lane" pass which allows to you skip the line on several of the parks main attractions. | |

Sure, it lacks a good wooden coaster. The thing is that a park can't have everything. CP is the classiest and most excitable to a coaster enthusiast. No way is it only a four star.

Among the best, but not my personal favorite

Cedar Point is easily the most well-rounded out park I have ever been to. They have an overwhelmingly large selection of rides, and staying for two days is the only way to go because of this. Not only do they have some of the best flat rides I've ever seen (MaXair, Skyhawk, Witches Wheel, Power Tower, and their incredible selection of kiddie flats), but they have a ridiculous selection of world class coasters to go with them (Magnum XL-200, Wicked Twister, and Maverick just to name some favorites).

Cedar Point is a good park, but it is not as great as everyone says it is. The coasters are good, but after Behemoth and Leviathan opened at Canada's Wonderland, Millennium and Magnum are just ok. Millennium Force was actually forceless when I rode it and Magnum bruised my legs. On the positive side, Maverick and Wicked Twister are amazing coasters. Other than that, there was nothing special about Cedar Point. I have lost my love for Cedar Point over the last few yeas as I have realized that there are better parks everywhere. The park really needs to invest alot of time and money into the park if they want it to be as amazing as it was back in the early 2000's. I honestly suggest driving the extra few hours up to Canada's Wonderland.

Cedar Point is great if you want a park where you can just ride all day as the park is filled with coasters and rides of every shape and size. Operations are very good and the whole park just has a fun atmosphere with everyone having a good time. There were still some underlying problems that shown through though. Fast Lane could have been implemented better, the queue lines are terribly boring to wait in with not so much as a tv or slightest attempt at theming and some are almost completely uncovered and 1/3 of the park has great theming while the rest is a concrete jungle. However, it's still absolutely worth the trip and provides days of fun with plenty of reasons to come back.

This park is by far the best. Currently with 15 fosters it may be out of the lead but oddsafe their on their way back to the top Ianthe coaster wars. They have the most world record breaking g rides and they never follow. They lead. Just look at magnum millennium force the dragster sky hawk maxair wicked twister and maverick. Cedar point has more firsts than anywhere In. The world. For a perfect day full of thrills. Cedar Point is the place to be. Cedar Point Ride On

Cedar Point has the best setting for an amusement park that I can think of. Right along Lake Erie, the park has a beach, hotels, and more importantly, 15 coasters. Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick, and Raptor are the best ones. With Gatekeeper bringing the count back up to 16, another stand out coaster will come to make America's Roller Coast that much better.

I can not say enough good things about Cedar Point. In addition to the world class coasters and attractions, the customer service during my visit was beyond compare. Staff went out of their way to make sure that my family (who was obviously in awe) had a wonderful time. On several occasions, staff members were joking and pointing out things to the younger members of the family. My visit was truly among the most memorable park visits I have had.

Cedar Point seems to somewhat polarize the coaster enthusiast community. Some find it overrated, others love it. Well, count me in the camp that loves the place. There's nothing better to me than driving down the causeway and seeing that surreal coaster skyline come into view! If you like plenty of rides and roller coasters, this is the place for you! There is just about every flat ride imaginable, led by MaXair, Skyhawk, Windseeker, and Power Tower. Then there are the coasters - 17 to be exact. There are some the whole family can enjoy, and then there's the big boys. Millennium Force is wonderful, Raptor is great, and Top Thrill Dragster is an incredible coaster with a great rush! Your thrill tank will leave full for sure!

Simply put, Cedar Point is the best thrill/amusement park. It's not a theme park nor does it claim to be. They build some of the best coasters around and maintain them very well, which makes them the best!

Went here with my dad recently to Cedar Point (both first timers) to find the staff very friendly and we were quickly navigating the large park. It has a lot to offer, with relativley short lines, so covering everything wasn't hard, but we were there for two days anyways. Really clean park, except the line for Maverick and Raptor. Didn't find one bad coaster there (and yeah, I did go on Mean Streak and loved it) and both days were well worth it because of that and all of the shows and restraunts they have there. Favorite rides were Magnum, Maxair and Maverick, fave food places were the Johnny Rockets and Gameday Grill. Well worth the trip, no matter how long you stay.

Cedar Point may not be the best park in the world, but the coaster lineup is unbelievably impressive. Efficiency is far above the Cedar Fair average, but crowds can be quite large. The park looks as bland as any other CF park, although it has always seemed fairly clean. Food is pretty overpriced and subpar, even by Cedar Fair standards. Coaster buffs should allow around 2 days to finish this massive park, and it would take quite a lot to become bored of the lineup. Don't pass this park up!

Cedar Point is legendary. As a coaster enthusiast, you're bound to be asked at one time or another "OMG have you been to Cedar Point?". The park obviously has a lot of coasters, but only two really stood out to me as being amazing... the rest were good or sort of average. The park operations weren't great, they have a wacky rain policy for such a major park, and the guest relations are pretty indifferent. The park does, however have a nice array of non-coaster attractions and lot of history. It's a nice place to visit, but the entire experience could use some work

It's hard to knock Cedar Point for anything besides maybe average operations at times, huge crowds, and having too many trash cans. The place is just loaded with incredible coasters. Maverick is a wicked little Intamin launch coaster that is in my personal top 5, and Magnum still packs incredible airtime with one of the most picturesque settings anywhere. Raptor is an old school forceful B&M invert, and Millennium Force, while not a personal favorite, still has one of the best first drops in the world. If you love roller coasters go to Cedar Point!

Cedar Point has the best of the best. Such a wide range of attractions, ranging from starter coaster for the little ones, to die hard thrill rides for the thrill seekers. Great atmosphere. Great place for a family vacation.

Greatest. Collection. of. Rides. Blue Streak, Disaster Transport, Magnum XL-200, Maverick, Millennium Force, Raptor, Top Thrill Dragster, Wicked Twister are worth it. The other coasters are good, but nowhere near those. The only coaster you should avoid is Mean Streak. Roughest ride ever! There is a good variety of thrill rides, a unique carousel, great selection of water rides, and 3 kiddie areas. Overall great selection, but a couple of the coasters are mediocre, at best.

Cedar Point really lives up to the hype. The coaster collection is amazing. Maverick is the greatest thing invented by humans, and Millennium, Dragster, Magnum, and Raptor are all great as well. The flats are some of the best around. The setting on Lake Erie is unparalleled. The Frontier Trail theming is decent, and the rest of the park, while unthemed, has a great atmosphere. The operations are the best I've ever encountered, the rides just ate massive lines. Contrary to popular belief, the park can be done in one day, if you're willing to give up the idea of whoring every coaster. Or you can stay overnight and take it at a more relaxed pace. No matter when you go, you will have a complete blast at Cedar Point, I guarantee that.

This park boasts one of the largest collection of coasters in the World. Millennium Force, Maverick and Top Thrill Dragster are among the world's best. Beyond those and Raptor, the coaster collection is otherwise full of pretty average coasters, and the infamous Mean Streak. The park also has some great flats including Power Tower, MaxAir, Skyhawk and the new Windseeker. There are some pretty good food options available with places like Famous Dave's, Panda Express and Pink's to name a few, but you'll have to pay for them. The standard park food is nothing impressive. The park definitely has the Cedar Fair corporate feel, and the crowds are insane, but this huge park definitely offers alot.

Cedar Point boasts a huge coaster collection-unfortunately, not many are fantastic. My favorites are Magnum, which still gives great airtime, and Maverick, with airtime and inversions. Gemini is a very unique ride, and Raptor is fairly good as well. Dragster is superior to Ka, but seems more temperamental-going there first gains no advantage if only 6 seats/train are used and rollbacks are always happening! The Giant Frisbee is fun, and the Screamin Swing is my favorite installation. Operations are very good, something the park prides itself on. Food is pretty expensive, and the usual quality. Environment around the park is good, with many pathways and some shaded areas, and Lake Erie makes for a great sight from rides.

My favorite park. The only reason I don't give them an excellent rating is the overpriced food. Not only do they overcharge you the taste leaves alot to be desired. I do reccomend staying at the breakers and make your stay 2 to 3 days. This is worth it. Plus you get to enter the park an hour early and beat the lines on certain rides. The millenium force is the best roller coaster I have ever rode on. I recomend taking the extra time in line to wait for a front seat. If you enjoy thrill rides come here.

Iv'e only been here twice in the last 2 years but I love it! Is it worth a 5 hour drive? Yes! I will probably end up going next year as well! I love how it's got a nice little beach, and the water (for being lake Erie) looks very pretty. Eat at Famous Daves because it's awesome, or bring your own in a cooler. Don't eat in the park unless you happen to have a gajillion dollars in your pocket. Some rides are over rated, but I think every ride has it's own charm. Don't miss the racing carousel, it's not as tame as it looks.
