Attractions
The following attractions should not be missed: Batman: The Ride; El Toro; Kingda Ka; Bizarro; and Nitro.

If you're going to try and ride all of the coasters in one day, do the following: Be at the park before it opens. Head to Kingda Ka and/or El Toro first, followed by Rolling Thunder, Bizarro, and Runaway Mine Train. Then head to the Boardwalk area for Superman Ultimate Flight and Green Lantern. Then head to Movie Town for Batman: The Ride, Nitro, Skull Mountain (the last car of Skull Mountain is a must), and The Dark Knight.

It is highly advisable to purchase a Flash Pass to make getting all of the coaster credits easier, especially on July/August/October weekends or busy summer weekdays.
Food
The boardwalk area is the closest thing to a food court with best variety and tastiest of food selections: Nathans - great hot dogs, onion rings and fries (indoors with AC); Ted's Cheesesteak's - good but overpriced (indoors with AC); and lastly a mini food-court with multiple asian counters.

Name-brand food chains in the park include Ben and Jerry's, Panda Express, Johnny Rocket's, and Cold Stone Creamery.

Operating Season
The park is open from April until the end of October, with daily operation staring in May and ending in September.
Established Seasonal events
The park holds a Coaster Celebration every year (check the official website for the exact date). The park also holds Fright Fest every year during the month of October.
Access & Location
The park is located off I-195 in Jackson, NJ.
From New Jersey and New York: NJ Turnpike to Exit 7A, I-195 E to Exit 16A.
Alternate route: Garden State Parkway to Exit 98, I-195 W to exit 16. One mile west on Rte. 537 to Six Flags.

From Philadelphia: Ben Franklin Bridge to Route 38 E. NJ Turnpike N to Exit 7A to I-195 E to exit 16A.
Alternate route: Route 295 N to I-195 E to Exit 16A.

It is possible to get to the park using public transportation from New York City or Philadelphia. NJ Transit sells combination bus ticket/admission ticket

From NYC - Port Authority - New Jersey Transit Bus Route 308 goes to Great Adventure with one stop at Penn Station in Newark. Those flying into Newark can catch a train from Newark Airport to Newark's Penn Station. This trip will take about 1 hour 50 minutes.

From Philadelphia - New Jersey Transit Bus Route 318 originates at the Philadelphia Bus terminal (runs only on weekends). This trip will take about 1 hour 30 minutes.
Nearby Lodging
The closest chain hotel is Radisson in Freehold, but a cheaper option is a Days Inn on Route 9 in Freehold. These will be 15 minutes from the park.

About 20-25 minutes to the west of the park at Exit 8 (East Windsor/Highstown) on the New Jersey Turnpike there are Days Inn, Holiday Inn, and Quality Inn.

Camping in the area can be found at Timberland Lake Campground (Camp Sites and Cabins) or the Laurel Pond Resort (Cabins and RVs)
Virtual Queue Options
The park offers the Flash Pass electronic queuing system, in both regular and "gold" versions. For pricing and other information, please visit the official park website:
http://www.sixflags.com/greatAdventure/tickets/flashpass.aspx.
Shows
The park features a dolphin show (Dolphin Discovery), miniature walk thru animal area (Safari Discoveries) and children's entertainment (Bugs Bunny). For 2012 the park added Safari Express, a private upcharge air conditioned tour through the Wild Safari with an opportunitiy to feed giraffes.

The park also features a number of concerts throughout the season. Consult the official park website for the latest concert and entertainment offerings.
