Wiener Prater Discussion Thread

Postby ing king » Sun Jul 22, 2007 3:56 am

Hey everybody!

This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about all the news on Wiener Prater, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion.

Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. Enjoy!

My homepark Prater in Vienna recently got a new attraction - the Tornado.
I'm not sure if it's another prototype of the austrian company funtime, but i've never seen a ride like that, so i thought i'd share.

Basically it's a swingride, but due to the suspension being excentered itself the "gondola" performs a strange curve.

The four across seats are hung up on steel wires and are also rotating via mounted motors - no free rotation. Guess the operator can choose different ride programs here.

All in all the ride looks fun and according to the screams of the riders it should be. I didn't ride it today, so i can't tell any further on the ride experience by now.

On to some photos...

I liked this shot - somehow reminds me of the stephen king movie with the clown, which name i can't remember now.

And as TPR seems to like boobs shown in parks i'll end this post with this picture - greetings from Austria :-)

Had to post some general park photos - the central plaza by night seen here.

I once killed a sixpack just to watch it die.

Its called 'It' ;)

Nice pictures! The new ride looks very weird! I also see that they have repainted Boomerang.

I saw, went and conquered Steel Dragon 2000. It's still crap!

I was in the Prater Park the day before yesterday but I didn't ride the Tornado swing. It looked cool however but I didn't feel like spending money on a flat ride (exept maybe for the giant clock which was very cool =) )
 Incurring the wraith of the title fairy

She turned me into a donkey! I got better...

This goes on the list of "Rides of pure WTFness."

It looks awsome. Dont suppose there's a video of it in operation anywhere, is there?

I think Intamin should make a donkey!

Weird WTF ride indeed. Looks scary (and the clown too).

Why didn't you ride this thing Ing king? (And why not spending money on new ride wrebbit?)

Good to the last drop

That ride is just bizarre and I still don't get the movements, hopefully I get to ride one someday and find out for myself.

^If im correct the ride swings and the "arrow" which the swing is held by, rotates causing the ride to swing higher at some points as you can tell by the pics.

Good to the last drop

Ah, I see so it doesn't quite invert you but gets close at some points, I really like the crooked arrow, makes it very mysterious looking. I'd hope these show up in the states someday!
