Wow what a beast! This thing could eat the one at Magical Midway. I wonder, will the chains possibly be a bit bigger on this model?

Wow, Is this an upgrade to their old Star Flyer, or did they remove it for the new one? Or are they keeping both?

Thats insane, a 300 foot star flyer? the 100 foot model scarred the crap out of me. The Star Flyer is the only ride left out there that genuinely still scares me just a little bit, and now this? Can't wait!

In 2004 Funtime build the prototype Star Flyer in Prater.

Now, in 2010, Funtime build the next generation, with more then 300 foot high! This new ride will called Praterturm (=Prater tower). To sit in a small chair in 300 foot - nothing around you - is a great thrill. The soft opening will be at 1. May.

Ride Entertainment Inc. has sent us a picture of the newly topped-off StarFlyer at Wiener Prater. This image offers a glimpse at the tower's iconic clock tower topper and of its ride carriage/vehicle up on the tower itself.

I LOVE it. Someday I will ride one of these (preferably this one). I also love how it's topped off--that's a pretty unique place for a clock!

This thing looks incredibly terrifying. Although, it looks like a ton of fun, and a must ride if you visit the park, I might have to consider whether or not to ride it. I know I'd be safe, but something about spinning 300ft in the air with the only thing keeping you safe being a little chain seems like it would be a little unnerving.

Hopefully more rides like this begin to open up around the world, as they look like some great thrill rides.

I'm going to Wiener Prater sometime soon since friends live down in Wein and they want me to come visit. I love that park so much, and this looks like a very nice addition. Just imagine this ontop of the Stratosphere.

Is this the maxium height that the starflyer can be built or can it go much high if requested? Does it also drop like a drop ride while swinging or does it stop swinging then drop?

I guess as long as your are willing to pay for it, you can go as high as you want. And no, Starflyers normally go up very slowly while starting to rotate, then stop on top going at top speed. Some of them then go halfway down the tower, go up again and then go down to the base. But there's no "drop" involved. It's just an adult-sized wave swing.

Funtime and Ride Entertainment has sent us some photos of the completed StarFlyer. I will go ahead and post the entire batch (even though there are some duplicates from the above post), since it was sent to us as a bundle.

That thing is just unnecessarily high. I think this would scare the livin' crap out of me more so than the drop tower at KD!

That has to be the scariest looking ride in the world, star flyers are terrifying but awesome at the same time

Well I know how I would be riding this on the way up, just like I do with Intamin drop twoer, keep my eyes looking up. lol

Most drop towers, with the exception of the Intamin Gyro drop's, don't bother me. I cannot imagine swinging around at the same height as Drop Zone! Especially in that video when the 2 guys in front of the cameraman start turning like you do on a wave swinger. I would probably do it once for the sake of doing it, but I really don't think I would enjoy it too much.

Praterturm is very popular. Many people ride every day. Always much people standing in the row.

Ride programm: you turn up to he top. On the top the speed will be a little slow - so you can look around. On the top you turm like one minutes and then you turn down. Near the ground you turn very fast a half minute. The ride program may be between three and four minutes.

No thanks! I will now throw up from watching that video. I love coasters but I am scared of heights and anything going that high held by just chains makes my stomach churn!
