The park hosts varied music reviews in the Moulin Rouge theaters. All Wheel Sports is participating during the summer months. Worlds of Fun had hosted a dog trick show for a few years. The Peanuts characters provide musical entertainment are also available for photo ops.
Since 1973, Worlds of Fun has been entertaining guests with five major sections themed around Jules Verne's "Around the World In Eighty Days." In 1995, the park was purchased by Cedar Fair Entertainment. Among its seven roller coasters, three of them should be noted: Patriot (B&M Invert), Prowler (GCI wooden coaster) and Mamba (Morgan Hypercoaster). Typical flat rides, children's rides, shows, as well as water rides are scattered throughout the park. For a separate admission you can also visit Oceans of Fun, the water park next door.
Last year, I was staying in KC for the summer and I got a season pass for this park. I went every week and it's a good park. The best part of my trip was the rides (mostly Patriot). The only thing I do not like about Worlds of Fun is that there's almost no way to escape the heat. I almost passed out once. Worlds of Fun is still worth visiting.
Horrible experience my sister in her kids came from Oklahoma to go here. We arrived around 2:30 on Saturday it started off ok, but when it was time to get something to drink and get our wrist bands that's when it all started. We waited for over 30 minutes at the register to get our wrist bands because tIhe workers were having problems doing it because they were not trained properly. We were in the oceans of fun section at this time. Well that was the only problem we had in oceans of fun. We was picking out place to go eat my sister chose coasters bad Idea!!!! they gave my sister her food really fast. We order the food at the same time it took 22 minutes to get my food because they lost ticket. I looked at my phone for time because we had wrist bands for all day dining we could get food every 90 minutes. I got the bacon cheeseburger the cheese was cold fries were cold, so something told be check meat on bun and sure enough the meat was cold, as if the burger had just been sitting on counter the whole time. It was 6 of us so I had only purchased 3 wrist bands for all day dining. We spent most of the time waiting for food and drinks rather than waiting to get on rides!!!!! At this time it's almost 8 and I still didn't eat I got so pissed off, I said I'll go somewhere else the next 90 minutes. By this time everyone had ate food besides me just horrendous experience!!!! We have only been on one ride which was the mamba, which is a ride I don't get on the 5 of them however did. So I haven't eaten anything nor have I rode any rides. So 9: 30 comes time to try and see if we can get food again without any problems. I see battlecreek bbq I said let's go get our 3 meals from there. I ordered the smoke brisket sandwich guy put order in we went down to find somewhere to sit all the tables are just dirty!!!!! So I had my niece go see if one of the tables could get cleaned since it was just us and another family in there ordering. In the woman behind the counter couldn't even speak english!!!!! she had to go get someone to speak english to my niece, turns out guy says she's from Brazil english is not that well. At this time I'm just so irritated. So the other family behind us gets they're food before us thought nothing about it. So ten minutes pass no food 5 minutes pass no food, black guy comes from kitchen said hey why are they just waiting at the counter? what's going on here why is no one working? and everyone just walked out and left him to deal with the situation they didn't even attempt to make our order. He says this has been happening a lot people can't handle the pressure so he's been stuck closing at night. The service at this amusement park is horrible!!!!!!!!!!! So again I ended up not eating and walked out. By this time I actually rode one ride. My sister said let's get funnel cake they can't get that wrong. Guess what wrong!!! They did we ordered oreo attack, and 2 classic funnel cakes. Every single one of us stop eating funnel cake after 2-3 bites it made us sick something was wrong with the grease!!!! It got me the worse because I had been here since 2:30 and I hadn't ate any real food. After about 5 minutes of eating it I started vomiting. I didn't want to ruin the kids fun so I said go ahead I'll be fine 2 of the kids said no I want to sit down I feel sick, so only 3 people got on the patriot. By this time it's 45 minutes to closing which means there is only time for one more ride that was the average time for the rides 40-45 minutes I said I'll ride my 3rd ride even though I still felt sick.... Once we got off ride felt really light headed I told myself I have to eat something and sure enough I looked up saw the this stand selling Turkey legs was still open he said my wrist band couldn't be used for Turkey leg so I paid $10 for this Turkey leg as if I didn't just already waste $370 at world's of fun. I had went so long without eating that the Turkey leg made me sick by this time were walking out the park I vomit 4 times in parking lot, so embarrassing this has been the worst and depressing experience I have ever had! I don't leave review's I just couldn't let this one go.....
I went to Worlds Of Fun 7/27/15 from 10:00 A.M-3:20 P.M and I got most of the rides I wanted. And I have to complain, the operations were TERRIBLE! Line was 45 minutes for Patriot due to one train. I had to wait four circuits for a ride on Timber Wolf and it was thirty minutes due to one train and super slow operations. And there was once were two of the ops at Patriot stood around for five minutes just TALKING without opening the gates. Anyway, rides were fun. The part retracked on Timber Wolf was smooth, rest was rough but still my second favorite wood coaster. All the rest of the coasters left me just saying, "meh." Even Prowler. What I hope this park gets in 2016 is either a Eurofighter, Motocoaster, or some ordinary sit down looper.
I wish they had kept Zambezi Zinger instead of putting in Boomerang so I could get a ride on it but it closed four years before I was born, I was born in 2001. And I wish they kept Orient Express, my yearbook teacher at school rode it and he said it was amazing, and he said Zambezi Zinger was his first roller coaster. I rode Steel Hawk when I went over the summer, I would've made a review then but I just made an account about 30 minutes ago, but it was fun, and Timber Wolf was just as I remember it being when I was six, AWESOME, in my opinion, it is better than Prowler, Timber Wolf is in my top three favorite roller coasters.
Good Place to take the kids but not to have Thrills
The Prowler is the best ride in the park by far! The Mamba is a good caoster but the helix gets painfull after about 12 times around. The Timber Wolf is simply a painful coaster (I force myself to ride it at least once per year, to remind myself why I don't ride it). Most of the management team are great and the Interns are a lot of fun! WOF does host some fun events to participate in through out their season. This is my Home Base but prefer other parks.
Worlds of Fun provides an all around good time with several coaster, a few of which are actually really good. Patriot is an above-average B&M invert and Prowler is a nice family GCI wooden coaster. Aside from those two rides, the park's landscaping and atmosphere is nice, and the operations and customer service aren't bad. I enjoyed my visit to World's of Fun, and while it's not exactly high on my list of places to go out of my way for, I'd definitely go back if I was in the area.
Over the last 8 years, Cedar Fair has pumped tens of millions of dollars into the park adding the Spinning Dragons, Patriot, PROWLER, Planet Snoopy, and Thunderhawk.
Mamba reminds me of a giant mine train with the first drop being the best. Cyclone Sams is a terrific surprise and highly reccomended for everyone to try. The train takes you out behind PROWLER for some excellent photo ops.
One of the smaller parks in the chains, it's worthy of a visit. The park is currently working on infrastructure improvements in prep for even more new additions in the future.
Worlds of Fun isn't superb, however I do find it an average fun park.
It has Prowler, easily one of the best night riding coasters I've been on.
Patriot is a fun B&M, even if it is way too short.
Mamba is on the slower paced, however it will give some nice rides.
The new planet snoopy area is fantastic for kids. Has great attractions and a great environment.
I do like the layout of the park, you seem to not be too far from anything.
Overall, the park isn't amazing, but giving it less than an average rating is asking to much of it. The atmosphere is very charming in my opinion, and has the classic feel to it. You'll have a fun day, just don't expect much.
Biggest disappointment I've had at a Cedar Fair park. Opening was very disorganized and operations were horrible all around. Prowler is a great coaster, my favorite GCI, that involves a lot of "pouncing" and just the right amount of roughness. Mamba was nothing special, and Patriot somehow takes Talon's layout (one of my favorites) and makes it horrendous. Every ride op degrade other rides in the park.. why? Theming was nice enough, but can't make up for bad operations. Didn't stay long enough to eat, no shows during visit. I almost always will stay at a park from open to close, but due to bad operations I was ready to leave after a mere 3 hours (as was my friend, who paid for the day). If Prowler weren't there I wouldn't go.
Although it doesn't take too long to get through all the rides, Worlds of Fun is still a beautiful park, with pretty theming and a friendly atmosphere. There are some great big attractions, but also lots of amazing smaller rides and family thrills. Overall, this was a great park to be my home base for a few years.
Pretty decent park. Prowler is a great GCI woodie and can really give some killer night rides. It transforms into a whole new ride. Patriot is a decent B&M invert, and Mamba is "fun." Timber Wolf can be an enjoyable ride in the front seat, but it is a pretty rough ride. Their Skycoaster is better than most though.
If you go during Halloween Haunt, their haunts are actually quite good!
Overall the park is nothing spectacular, but it is an enjoyable Cedar Fair park. Definitely worth a stop though!
WoF has a few things going for it. Prolwer is a very good woodie (excellent at night), Black Mamba is a fun hypercoaster, Timber Wolf is a bit on the rough side (but fun), and Cyclone Sam's is a quirky flat ride in a box with some fun special effects. Other than that, the park doesn't have much personality, although thrillseekers will probably be happy with its large lineup of coasters. Think of it as a generic, corporate amusement park.
I really did not find anything very special about this park. Both the GCI wooden coaster, Prowler, and the B&M invert, Patriot, where both great. Everything else was pretty standard when it comes to attractions. Lack of shading in the queues in the summertime can be horrible.
