Great Escape still maintains much charm along with many unique attractions from its pre-Six Flags days. Practically the whole Storytown area remains intact from when the park was called Storytown USA, with lots of fairy-tale-inspired decor for kids to enjoy.
The flat rides are numerous and run at a pace that families can enjoy together. All coasters can be enjoyed by children over 48", a rarity nowadays.
The coasters might not pack the greatest punch, but this is an all-around family park for those who vacation locally. | |

Despite being winged under the Six Flags brand and family - this place hasn't acted like it. Sure the ride operators may wear that familiar bright yellow dress shirt and top of Six Flags ride personnel. But - they sure don't act they're under Six Flags.
My reception to the place was awe - and a profound respect for the place. It's like the park modernized but made the changes fairly subtle. They had a great and underrated woodie which was the Comet. Sasquatch was a decent S&S combo tower that they opened afew years back.
Overall - nice and fun, but quiet park. I would return here - if I were given the chance or if I knew residents in the area.

Great Escape is one park that has not become Six Flagsized. From the swan river ride to the classic car ride, the park is good for about 4-6 hours. The best coaster by far is the Comet with the Vekoma's not being that good. The log ride and river rapids are also nice, but the Himalaya is far from being good.
On your way out, talk a walk thry Story Book Land.

A real surprise of the recent TPR NE Trip, The Great Escape is a very cool, very nice looking park, with some unique theming and rides, given it is a member of the Six Flags group. Certainly worth a visit!!!

Comet was actually a big surprise for me and definately loved the airtime it gave in the front seat. The whole part reminded me of Dutch Wonderland but just on a bigger scale. I had a great time just walking around and viewing all the little extra things the park offered. The food prices definately show its a Six Flags park but other then that, it seems very opposite of their other parks Ive been to. I definately recommend that people check out this park if they are in the area.

Had a great time at this park - friendly staff, good operations, quite a variety of rides, lots of great theming, etc.. You really don't have to come here expecting a bunch of big/crazy coasters, but rather, an eclectic assortment of things to do: plenty of midway games, lots of kids areas, a sky ride, swan boat ride, train ride, walk-throughs, a few shows, water rides, etc.
Comet and the drop tower were the highlights of my trip (the water canons are fun, too).
If there were some bigger, more thrilling rides, I'd rate the park higher. But, at the same, time, if the park had massive gigas or B&M track changing the skyline, it might take away the park's charm/character.

Barely Worth Visiting, Except for Kids

Great Escape is a nice park. It doesn't feel like a Six Flags park. However, this is its only true unique point. The park doesn't have a lot to do, with around a dozen standard carnival rides, a couple water rides, and 6 roller coasters, all but one of which are sub-par. Even Comet, the park's best coaster, is quite overrated and doesn't deliver a ride worth going out of your way for. The park's operations are poor and slow, the Go Fast Pass was disorganized, and Splashwater Kingdom is pretty small as wel. However, if you have kids, this park does have quite a few attractions for them, including walkthroughs and fairy tale displays. If you have a Six Flags pass and are in the area, try it...if not, skip it unless you have a half-day free.

Very lack-luster in the ride department

This park has a terrible collection of rides. They have one good roller coaster, and the rest are very very subpar. They have many out-dated and boring flat rides, and the theming is transparent. That being said, kids will love the walkthrough attraction and the swan boat ride.
