| Dreamworld was inspired by Disneyland, and this is pretty clear from its front gate. But this excellent family park on Australia's Gold Coast has forged its own distinct identity. Although it lacks a "world class" coaster, Dreamworld does boast the tallest (at least until 2012) drop tower in the world; some very well done habitats showcasing native animals, such as koalas, alligators, and the frightening cassowary; a good selection of flat rides; and a water park that could serve as a "Pro Slide showroom." You may even get a chance to pet a live tiger! Landscaping and theming are very good throughout the park--and sometimes bizarre (for example, the odd queue for the Cyclone roller coaster). All age groups should enjoy Dreamworld. | |

Although Dreamworld doesn't have any "standout" coasters, with the exception of Tower of Terror II, there is a lot to recommend it. For example, the park has some very well done exhibits of native animals (lots of interaction), and its drop tower is the tallest in the world. The park is well themed (the western area is particularly good), and there's even a good laser-tag arena (Alien v. Predator v. You). There's a decent selection of flats, fairly extensive kids areas, and a water park, so a family could spend a very enjoyable day here. What it lacks is a good dark ride, although there is a Wiggles World ride for the kids (and no one else). Couple that with a friendly staff, and you have a solid park.

Dreamworld is a unique theme park. They don't really have a big main coaster that you can re-ride over and over again; but they do have Giant Drop, Tower of Terror, The Claw, and Cyclone. It's a nice day trip, lots of flats, and their waterpark is like a Proslide brochure. But be aware of low capacity rides! Lines can build up.
