Arnolds Park is a compact little place consisting mainly of old-school flats and chilldren's attractions. No big thrills for the thrillseekers. The park sits on the edge of Lake Okoboji, a popular recreational area. The park can easily be completed in a short time as crowds are generally light. The staff is friendly and helpful. The park has limited food offerings, but more food options serving the lake are located right outside the park.
In all reality there is little to nothing to do at this park. I went when their coaster was half retracked, and half old and trying to rupture a kidney. The retracked part was a load of fun! Other than that there is free admission to their tipsy house and mirror maze, so that is a plus. I also rode the ferris wheel that sat ride by the lake. It's beautiful and highly recommended. The ride operator also let us ride until we wanted to get off. He would have let us sit all day on the ride if we wished. The park staff is also incredibly friendly.
We ate at a "Fisherman's Wharf" place that had a deck to eat on by the lake. It was pretty tasty and I'd recommend it. I'm sure more could be done on the lake, but we had a very relaxing half day here
I visited this park in 2009 and had a lot of fun. The Legend roller coaster has some nice pops of airtime, but is also very "bouncy" on the bunny hills. I did not ride the kiddie coaster, but found out after the fact that coaster people can usually ride it. The park has some classic flat rides such as the #-o-plane rides. The log ride seemed to have some bee problems. The park is located next to a lake, which is the summer weekend destination for Iowa families.
Pros
If you ask the park manager, enthusiasts are generally allowed to ride the kiddie coaster.
If you are only into the coasters, pay per ride is the better option.
