Have you heard the expression about being from the wrong side of the tracks? Beijing Shijingshan plays this out perfectly as the park is divided by railroad track through the heart of the park. The area near the entrance gate is fairly run down but as you cross a large overpass you end up in a nicer area of the park. Well at least it is nicer relative to where you started. The older areas of the park have a lot of classic flat rides along which some unimpressive coasters. However, as you continue walking you do eventually come across a "newer" area with a very nice looking children's area, new flats rides, but alas, more unimpressive coasters. In totality, the park stresses quantity over quality, but the park's newer flat rides are impressive.
Unfortunately two of the park most intriguing attractions Spinning Batman and Adventure Tower appear as though they will never operate again.
The ride operators move at a leisurely pace so you'll be in a for long day if you want to experience the whole park. There were no Western style restaurants in the park so eating can be a challenge for picky Westerners. Another issue for Westerners could be the lack of shaded areas in the park along with the lack of a visually appealing park.
