UK Photo TR

01-gasstation.jpg
A lot of the parks we visited were out in the middle of nowhere, but still managed to attract a fair number of visitors
02-robbandpizza.jpg
As part of "Elissa Bingo", we had to witness Robb eating something as one of the squares
03-donkey.jpg
Here's the random donkey
04-hotel.jpg
This was the hotel we stayed in at Alton Towers
05-hotel2.jpg
The place feels like it belongs at a Disney or Universal resort
06-walk.jpg
The fifteen minute walk from the hotel to the park, however, did not. Oh well, there's still the monorail
07-purpleflowers.jpg
Purple flowers were a common theme at Alton Towers
08-splashcarts.jpg
Hey Dan, want to go on this? It's only ₤3
09-sigshot.jpg
Some of the impressive landscaping. Would make a great spot for a terrain woodie
10-queues.jpg
Similar to a Universal park, the Tusseuds parks have these electronic displays around the park
11-ugland.jpg
In Ugland, we get ERT on Corkscrew!
12-otsrs.jpg
Rita is one of many Intamin rockets with OTSR's
13-corkscrew.jpg
Darn it! Corkscrew is running
14-brakefins.jpg
A close up of the brake fins that retract when the train launches
15-barry.jpg
Who's that sad and pathetic person back there by himself?
16-broken.jpg
John took a picture of Rita (either that or he tried to get a shot of Corkscrew and missed).
End of story (and ERT for that matter).
18-crush.jpg
Alton Towers has a castle, and a big one that that.
19-treeline.jpg
Strict ordinances require rides to be built below the treeline
20-blackhole.jpg
I've got this credit!
21-castle.jpg
Another shot of the castle
22-spinball.jpg
Spinball is themed to a giant pinball machine
23-entrance.jpg
24-sadandpathetic.jpg
Dan and I took the Sad and Pathetic line
26-elissa.jpg
So sad and pathetic that I got to ride with Elissa (who loves spinning coasters)
28-twocars.jpg
You can tell we're not at a Six Flags park
29-credit.jpg
The credit whores take over Beastie
30-oblivion.jpg
This is Oblivion. Claimed as the first "vertical drop" coaster, the drop is only slightly steeper than the Togo Death Machine Ultra Twisters.
31-camera.jpg
Fortunately John missed and took a picture of the flat rides instead
32-banked.jpg
Oblivion has a 90 degree banked turn between the drop and the brakes
33-shed.jpg
Ooh! Signature shot!
35-corkscrew.jpg
Time to get screwed
36-animal.jpg
Sorry Robb, no food for you!
37-corkscrew.jpg
Prepare for the Vekoma Brace Position
38-trees.jpg
These trees look like they came out of RCT
39-castle.jpg
This the "Towers" part of Alton Towers

More from Alton Towers
41-buffet.jpg
This is the lunch buffet
42-elissa.jpg
Robb ate everything, leaving nothing for Elissa
43-mcdonalds.jpg
But I'm sure she will survive
44-wetness.jpg
You know you want to ride
45-baddriving.jpg
This is what happens when Elissa navigates on Rhino Rally
46-stinkydoom.jpg
What are you going to break this time?
47-duel.jpg
The Haunted House was converted into a "shoot the coloured lights" shooting ride.
48-monorail.jpg
The Monorail Barn
49-intense.jpg
While this may be the "World's Most Intense Ride Experience", Nemesis is still extremely smooth for its age.
52-barry.jpg
Nemesis has many areas for getting good pictures and video
53-verticalloop.jpg
No photo TR is complete without a random vertical loop
54-faketrack.jpg
Nemesis is extremely well themed
56-topspin.jpg
Ripsaw is a very wet Top Spin. Chessington had one too, but the water effects weren't working.
57-air.jpg
AIR was intended to be a "relaxing" ride. No pretzel loop here
58-exclusive.jpg
Like Nemesis, AIR has lots of good photo spots
60-broken.jpg
John took a picture of the Top Spin
61-blur.jpg
Cool motion blur
62-flip.jpg
One of Nemesis's inversions
63-bigone.jpg
We'll be riding that in a few days
65-wetness.jpg
This was the wettest that we got on the trip so far
66-ducks.jpg
These RC ducks were easier to control than the ones at Lightwater Valley
67-steps.jpg
While the castle is mostly empty, there are steps in there that could strike at any time
68-vekomaride.jpg
This is where the Vekoma ride lurks
70-fart.jpg
I fart in your general direction!
71-raven.jpg
Alton Towers has ravens and legends, now they just need a voyage
72-spiralstairs.jpg
While there is very little in the castle, visitors can explore much of the rooms and some of the battlements
74-glass.jpg
Some of the stained glass is intact (or at least restored)
75-drop.jpg
This would be a good place for a drop tower
80-blaster.jpg
The hotel had a partially enclosed waterpark, complete with a Master Blaster slide
81-clamped.jpg
This is what happens when you illegally park at Alton Towers. Your wheel gets clamped and your car painted in wild colours
83-ert.jpg
The next morning was ERT on Nemesis
85-firstdrop.jpg
The ride is by no means tall, but packs a punch
86-fantazy.jpg
Hey Fantazyland, John Wardley did a much better job
87-monorailduel.jpg
Nemesis and AIR duel with the monorail
88-splitstation.jpg
Unlike Six Flags, Alton Towers actually uses their dual loading station
90-lift2.jpg
Cresting the lift
91-skyride.jpg
The skyride was closed today, or was it opening?
92-elevator.jpg
If you're ever at the Alton Towers Hotel, be sure to check out the Elevator Ride. While not as good as the Magical Escalator, it's an interesting experience

Can I park my donkey here?

Great Photo TR, I really like your close-ups of Nemesis.

You should have asked the maintenance department if you could get ERT's on the Oblivion as in that pic you posted. That sure would have been a great ride..lol

Nice pics....it rained only one day there?

Southport Pleasureland
01-bigblueroom.jpg
This was our room at Big Blue. We had an awesome view (in a later update)
02-pubquiz.jpg
The pub quiz at Blackpool. Here we had to answer tough questions such as "How many credits is Steeplechase?" and "Who has a fetish for vertical loops?"
03-pleasureland.jpg
After a night in Blackpool, we head to Pleasureland Southport
04-closed.jpg
We were disappointed! No SLC credit for us today
05-barryonthewhel.jpg
"If you are sad and pathetic, get on the wheel"
06-pileon.jpg
We tried, but we were unable to break the wheel this time.
07-robb.jpg
Who gave Robb the mike?
08-socialmixer.jpg
This is the Social Mixer
09-robbanddonke.jpg
TPR loved the funhouse
Robb and the ass.jpg
Find the ass
10-number1.jpg
Cyclone #1? By who? Paul Ruben? Sure it's a classic ride and a lot of fun, but I don't see enthusiasts flocking to it.
11-lipstick.jpg
Robb takes yet another POV
12-blackpool.jpg
You can barely make out Blackpool Pleasure Beach in the distance
13-flyers.jpg
The flyers were not open today
14-soloman.jpg
Solomon's Mines is a classic wood mouse
15-lift.jpg
Random lift hill shot
16-track.jpg
Wooden mice seem more "out of control" than steel models since the cars tilt a little bit around the turns
18-crooked.jpg
This is Cyclone's lift hill
19-ert.jpg
We had a fair amount of ERT on both Cyclone and Solomon's Mines
20-trespass.jpg
Robb goes where no enthusiast has gone before
21-japanese.jpg
These two are either demonstrating the Japanese Riding Position or hiding from Barry's camera
22-treechop.jpg
One of the "tree headchoppers" on Cyclone
23-duelingtrains.jpg
No guys, this isn't a credit
24-off.jpg
"I'm going to take a picture of your train"
25-winning.jpg
Elissa and Dan are winning, even when Robb took several hundred pounds off of his train
26-shuttle.jpg
The train is a shuttle
27-pushh.jpg
Darn it John! Did you take a picture of OUR train?
28-station.jpg
Let's do that again
29-rules.jpg
Oh, well
30-candy.jpg
Robb's into the candy again
31-beer.jpg
Hey, Soren, is this correct?
32-buffet.jpg
Southport had a pizza and pasta buffet
33-pizza.jpg
...with pizza...
34-pasta.jpg
...pasta...
35-coaster.jpg
...and a credit
36-theming.jpg
Pleasureland's Wacky Worm is known for its amazing theming
37-creditwhoretrain.jpg
Once again the adults take over the kiddie coaster
38-pov.jpg
Can you move out of the way Barry?
39-photo.jpg
On-ride photos are available for everything in the UK - even the Wacky Worm
Credit Whore.jpg
...as there are some moments that just can't be missed
40-wildcat.jpg
Wildcat was closed while we were there. They opened it back up as soon as they saw our coach leave the car park
41-skyride.jpg
Pleasureland has a small skyride that runs round trip around the park
42-shot.jpg
What are you taking a picture of John?
42a-slc.jpg
Don't take a picture of that! You'll open it back up again and we'll have to ride it!
43-barry.jpg
I was the "sad and pathetic" one on this ride
44-trauma.jpg
Best name for an SLC EVER!
45-anatomy.jpg
At least it's anatomically correct
46-turtle.jpg
We've had green water on all the log flumes and now we have blue water.

That picture of Robb on the Wacky Worm is priceless, the most serious face I've ever seen on him.

They sure do. That is where that "retard" threw that balloon from that zonked my fiance on the head.

I could picture the headlines now:

"American Coaster Nut Has Passport Revoked After Assaulting a Defenseless "Special" Kid"

// I wish I had no conscience as that kid would still be in the hospital.
