Photo TR: Puyallup Fair 2010 (9/11/2010)

Recommended Posts

If anybody remembers, last year, I went to the Puyallup Fair. The Puyallup Fair is Washington State's most profitable attraction, drawing over 1,000,000 guests each year in its September 10th - 26th span. The fair is well known for its animals, its food, its vendors, and its rides. Naturally, being on a theme park website, I like the check out the latter. This year, I went again and did so.

So now... Let's start off with a POV!

And now some good news from Lucario.....

DSC01559.jpg.6c04f32f6633643201a9b48fc859504b.jpg

"Guess what? No long, irrelevent prologue crap! We're getting right to the photos, people!"

DSC01560.jpg.978372b4951a11da933bad451603241d.jpg

I'm setting my glee free!

DSC01564.jpg.3eb25ff390c86e0fb026da3b640d6c43.jpg

Turnstiles, like at most major theme parks. Just because there isn't a prologue doesn't mean it won't include this kind of shot. =)

DSC01565.jpg.8e2e4a4dcba876704276e34c74fc0c2a.jpg

Enter through the Blue Gate and to your right.... very unhealthy food!

DSC01570.jpg.cb6483b3274945281b7aab840d16eadb.jpg

They call it YoungLife because your life will end young, due to the fact that it's at a fair and it will be automatically bad for you.

DSC01572.jpg.2805aba66d2afe3af65edde7ba6140c2.jpg

The same group as last year (Minus Savannah and Jennifer, plus new exchange student and her daughter. FYI, the exchange student has been to Everland! She probably has a credit on Aquatrax! =) ).

DSC01576.jpg.6b8f29342195dd89ed235af920b11ec4.jpg

That Fiesta that was advertised last year.... Now it's the real deal!

DSC01577.jpg.b80e935e8c6d2445f8bf215755286f0b.jpg

Does anybody know what this is?

DSC01579.jpg.f7b319e1418c14c2a848e274f0941de9.jpg

I'm sure everybody knows what this is!

I remember I rode this last year too.

According to the Index, this ride isn't operating...

Next is the flying thingy. Like a __________, more ___________ version of Hang Glider at Wild Waves.

I like the new 'ticket' system. You buy 'tickets', but instead of getting actual tickets, you get a card with the amount of tickets you purchased. Then, you go to whatever ride you want to ride (that accepts tickets), give the card to a person, and they scan it. If it works, you can just get on the ride. Easy, simple, quick, and more organized! Although you will probably want to track exactly how many 'tickets' you're using, because you can easily loose track of how many points you spend.

Fluffy, fluffy dalmation filled with medicine and goo!

Part 2 soon to follow. Thanks for reading!

Coaster Thrill Ride POV

Continuing where we left off....

DSC01625.jpg.c30d6d8e092cffc05527dc2f1f5040b2.jpg

I spy with my little eye... a LOT of new wood!

DSC01626.jpg.8a048e95ce2444011f457aa910d34b2d.jpg

Compare to a similar shot I took last year... You'll notice all of the NEW WOOD!

You'll notice the NEW WOOD here too!

This might as well be a brand new GCI: Loads of airtime, new wood....

...and a station fly-above!

Only one train operation. Still worth the wait, though!

Lots of ride ops meant quick dispatches, but 1 train made that useless.

Also, thanks to the lady who gave me 6 extra tickets because we didn't realize how quickly we spent our tickets! We really appreciate it, if you are reading this! =)

Nice report.

That Wildcat looks like the same exact model that SFMM had back in the '70s and early '80s---even the same color, too. That fair looks like it has a pretty decent selection of coasters, too.

Eric

EDIT: And I forgot to mention that last December at the L.A. Auto Show, I got to drive a 2011 Ford Fiesta. My thoughts? Eh.

I was at the fair today. Though when I got there, the only coaster still running was the wooden one due to rain.

That coaster is so amazing. It's sad that it is almost never open because it is such a good ride.

Also, the rotor there is amazing just for how much the floor drops. The one at Six Flags Great America only dropped like 1 foot.

^^^I remember you said similar things about the 2010 Fiesta. Guess it's not that great? I'll have to get one as a rental to see if I like it or not.

^^Sadly, the fair has many 'Single-rider-unfriendly' rides. It makes things complicated if you go to the fair by yourself.

^Really? It has been running almost every fair that I've gone to. That stinks that it doesn't run more often for you, I know it's a great credit to get.

This ride is incredibly simple. This big box of springs rises, and tightens the cables. An electromagnet holds the vehicle to the ground.

DSC01801.jpg.ef7fa1436013e0009f106dc515390639.jpg

This ride has a very patriotic theme to it.

DSC01803.jpg.e423697b925eb97aa8c9360214768e15.jpg

The DVD sucks, as it is split into segments. I suck at editing, so I can't really combine them to make the DVD appear well on the computer. So this is the closest to an 'onride shot' you'll get.

I'll post more later. Thanks for reading! =)

Part 4

DSC01804.jpg.5adc4548b057ef4353cd8a777c91f986.jpg

I get the DVD, which is $20. Ripoff, but I still enjoy getting them.

DSC01805.jpg.9ed93665efdc121f6a4cfa8b224821d6.jpg

After that, we head for this hypnotist. Amazingly, I am picked to be hypnotized!

DSC01810.jpg.48ee32924ada31113e98d944da485deb.jpg

I didn't get fully hypnotized, but I can tell that it really is possible! I lost my concentration at the last second while we were being hypnotized, so I didn't get the full effect. But it was still very interesting, and for skeptics I think I can say that it really can work!

DSC01811.jpg.8b64250c03333e8ae074ce87987c781d.jpg

Like last year, I got a Bull Chip...

...and some milk.

DSC01815.jpg.62c508826e6405ac75b37dc05275bcf8.jpg

But I also stop and get some Yakisoba noodles.

DSC01817.jpg.fa799740b6222958963a6ea0428c6fcb.jpg

I personally thought it had too much vegetables in it, but if you combine it with teriyaki chicken, this yakisoba is pretty good!

I'll end with this random rock band; one of many likely to be at the fair.

Thanks for reading! =)

I went to the Puyallup fair last week also. Went during the $2 ride day which made it a bit cheaper than normal. I wanted to ride the coasters, specifically Kersplash which I had never ridden which is up for sale right now, so although the dirty water in it put me off before I was going to ride it this time. We rode the wood coaster 3 times and all were good. I didnt get last seat on first two rides and was starting to worry the re-build took away a little airtime, but when I rode the last seat on my 3rd ride it clearly is still all there, what a great little coaster, to bad it was open a bit more than twice a year! Then we rode the Wildcat, a fun coaster that has a fairly run down appearence now. Then we went to Kersplash, we watched a few riders and could see you would get a bit wet but not to bad, the water in this thing always looks like a sewer so I have avoided this one for years. Anyway, I have to say I was surprised how fun a ride it is, nice swooping drops, Miler makes some decent coasters, I rode the little kiddie coaster made by Miler at Oaks Parks in Portland made by Miler and would say that may be the best kiddie coaster I have ridden.

We wanted to ride the Mouse but as previously stated, they dont let you ride alone, and last time my son and I rode together it was cramped as hell. I am 6' and hes 6'5" so we just cant fit in it. I dont get why single riders cant go on this. We rode a few flat rides, got some fried clams and then took off. This fair/park has more rides and better coasters than the nearby 6 Flags Wild Waves if you ask me.

^^^Oh wow, now that I notice it, that's a good name!

^^I'm going on the 21st to see Adam Lambert with my mom. But I won't be able to go tomorrow. Sorry.

^$2 Ride Day? I've never heard of that. The only major ride deal I know of is the Comcast Dizzy Pass wristband, where you pay $25 for a wristband for unlimited midway and Sillyville rides, excluding Extreme Scream.

Awesome report! They get better and better every time you post one.

The Puyallup Fair looks amazing, and I've never heard anything negative about The Coaster. If only I could find a reason to visit Washington...

Thanks for sharing!
