I'm confused. :?r
It looks like they are keeping the racing theme, but then making it creepy deep forest-ish with vines and tuff? Or am I totally wrong?

They are going down the "Dark Forest taking everything over" theme I believe.

I am not sure the theming is going to spread that far.

I do like this idea. The changing of themes seems more organic.

It's great how they are just adding on to existing scenery. Just simple touch ups can make a re-theme loads better.
