mejaybe
During a trip to the Alameda County Fair yesterday, a particular exhibit caught my eye that I thought might be worth posting. I've seen other working models of coasters before but none that were the likeness of a ride I've been on before. So, without further delay, I present to you the miniaturized version of Top Gu... errr, Flight Deck! I leave you with one final shot. Top Gu... I mean, umm mini Flight Deck... through the trees! They even took the time to add a section of Rip Roaring Rapids. I think the little people in the tube are either sleeping or dead. Overview from the opposite side of the table. Mmm, sexy! They nailed the design really well. Here's one for all you lift-hill enthusiasts. Flight Deck at California's Great America! Although I'm sure when this was built it was still called Top Gun at Paramount's Great America. That curious little gentleman in the background is my youngest son Gabriel... say hi Gabriel! mcjaco
Out of curiousity, what did that control panel operate? Â I love the use of a RC airplane tire for the raft!
mejaybe
Unfortunately I never got to see it in action so I'm not 100% sure. If I had to guess though, I'd say it controls the motor to the lift hill, the brakes at the station and also all the lights.

hyyyper
Great model, perfect example of what you can do with CoasterDynamix. To bad the zero-G and corkscrew would kill people, just look at that horrible shaping.

Two points are badly shaped and could kill IRL Â I've seen plenty of posts contributing less
mejaybe
Easy kids, easy. Â 1. It's just a toy. 2. I didn't build it, I just photographed it at a fair. 3. It's just a toy. Â
Real
Really wish I had a CoasterDynamix model because Im pretty sure I could get realistic shaping. I havent seen yet one where the Zero G was shaped properly. Â I need about 500 bucks in spare change though...lol

Angry_Gumball
I think I saw this (not being at the Fair) over at Great America Parks a while back, was pretty impressed. It's not 100% exact, but I was still able to recognize that it was Flight Deck. I like the mini operators panel, that adds a lot to the model! Jack Rimer
I'm surprised at how many people think it still costs $500 to get into CoasterDynamix. The Scorpion is $199 and sells online for as low as $139. The new Phoenix will retail for $150. We will be selling models of Griffon and Sheikra through the parks for $100 and our Sidewinder launch kit will retail for $30! We still have the Dragon if you want to spend $500, but you can get started for much less.
