dubaidave
At the beginning of April we went to Thailand. I will let the photos do the talking. Again I need to thank my long suffering freind, David, for allowing me to drag him around theme parks in 99% humidity, and for graciously wearing the TPR Tea shirt. Enjoy. We will move into the park in the next installment There were some coaster cars, but no track. These are the surviving logs from the flume of death Lat year it was coasters in the parking lot, but this year, it was more flats. And it didn`t disappoint this time either If anyone saw my trip report last year, you will know that the main draw of this park was rides in the parking lot, ready to be assembled. The first park in Bangkok was Siam Park City. It also boasted the most impressively themed toilets I have ever seen They had a very colorful black lit games area Phuket Fantasea was quite interesting. On the flight from Bangkok to Phuket we saw the coaster at Pattaya.

dubaidave
I have to say that in the year since I last visited this park they have made massive improvements. Several of the old rides have been removed and all the coasters and rides that were in the car park have been installed. Â Just for the record, the SLC was easily as good as Infusion, if not better, and had the added benefit of no wait and you could stay on if you wanted. Warning, the next few pics are a little geeky. They even have 2 trains And it was really smooth The SLC looks really nice This ride has never been open, both times I have visited. And made us both feel sick Except to say it hurt like hell Not much more top say about it It was, well, a Boomerang First up, the boomerang. I think this was advertising the Jurassic Park ride. Steffen_Dk
Is that really the same place? If yes; well that's just impressive! Â How can such an okay looking park look SO much like a ride cemetery in the front and so good in that back of the park?
dubaidave
One of the new rides was an observation tower. So hers some great aerials. The inside of the tower had some nice construction Photos. The park map shows some of the expansions I thought this looked like a coaster This is for the new, African adventure They are expanding the park again
dubaidave
Last part for Siam Park City Coming next is Wonder World, With 2 coasters that have never run! It looks like it was hastily demolished The Indiana Log had an accident last year that killed a couple of people. Not all the areas were nice On they way out I was attacked by this monster But the animals didn`t look too happy It was nicely done. This is what looked like a coaster from the tower ride This bridge led to a small zoo
packfanlv
I was just at Siam Park City yesterday. I agree the SLC was very smooth in the front row and the best Vekoma SLC I have ever been on. The middle of the train was pretty rough for me and the back wasn't exactly pleasant. Vortex was my 200th credit and even though I was sad that my 200th had to be a Vekoma SLC, at least it was a decent one! Â The park really is a mixed bag. Half of it seems new and the other half rotting, but it looks like they are putting a lot into expansion. The malaria zoo was a little scary, because one of the monkeys grabbed my shoe from below and started to grab it. The animals weren't very happy at all! Also, the Jurassic Park Jeep ride was blah and the park really lacked character. I also think the water park was disappointing since they advertise it as the largest in Asia and it only has two slide towers! Â I am still catching up my TRs, but I should have this park in about a month. Thanks for the great pictures. Wonder World was also a crazy park. I visited there a couple of weeks ago. Those two coasters look great, but I wonder why they have never operated. Do you know? I asked, but no one spoke English so I couldn't get an answer. Keep it coming! aslinterpreter
dave, I remember your last trip to BKK that you posted here.  we are frequent visitors to the land of smiles and look forward to retiring there later on  next time you are there, look for a Thai carnival!!!!!! Its like a ghetto fair, but Thai style! Awesome! Last one we went to had a game with this huge circle and numbers painted above holes around the circle. You "bought" a number for the game, then they brought out this HUGE rat type animal and shook it around in a bucket till it was dizzy, then let it go. If it ran into your numbered hole you win!!!! Weird  Anyway we loved your pics and look forward to more!
dubaidave
Thanks for your kind words guys. Here are the pics from Wonderworld and a couple I forgot to post from Siam Park City Here is the view from our hotel. Dream World next. The cars are air conditioned There was some sort of Pepsi offer on You can now, at least, get up to the Ferris wheel Inside doesnt look much better They still haven't built a station At least they have finished the track This test car was in exactly the same place it was 1 year ago You can see some of the cable hanging down in this photo As have the big cable drums that would have launched the 2 coasters The launch cable had been removed And talking of the coasters. The main change is that the area under the coasters has been made into a go kart track Although I did think that last time I visited It looks like it could be quite nice when finished It is a really hard park to explain The Malaria ride was still closed This park is ran by the same people that run Pattaya Funny Park. These towers look almost home made. Both times I have been the parks seems almost closed I cant think of a suitable caption for this one. Wonder World is quite strange ..... BOOBS!! It was not too exciting, but it had.......... They use real jeeps I forgot we rode the Jurassic Park ride. I took film on it but it was not very exciting
the ghost
That zoo was kind of depressing. Why werte the monkeys chained up? If that were America that would never ever happen as I have never seen a chained up inside a zoo. That was kind of sad.
mobilejom
those log flume cars are not the old one. they're new.....probably second hand from other country though. and those construction side u saw, that's where they will put new log flume i think Siam Park will put all of those flat ride within this year-2009. i've been to Siam Park many times last year but i never been to those animal island. it looks a bit scary hahahaha
dubaidave
^ Thanks for that. I was not sure about the age of the flume cars. Â I do think it is slightly bad taste to put another flume ride in. Â When I went last year I didn't even see the dodgy zoo bit. It was only this year from the observation tower that I saw it and, truth be told, I only went onto the island because it looked like a coaster on there. jaap
Real sad to see those monkeys chained. And why would they put those monkeys in the zoo? they are all over thailand living in the wild????? Â The SLC look real nice and it is even the + version with the extra helix. Â thanks for this TR.

DRACHEN_FIRE_FAN-BOY
it is sad when the only good thing about theme parks are; Vekoma, and a Ferris Wheel.
packfanlv
The air conditioning on the ferris wheel at Wonder World was the highlight for me. Seriously, that park is confusing. I can't figure out why they would build two coasters and then just leave them rotting there. Â I was just in Siam Park a few days ago and a few of the monkeys are on chains, but most of them run freely in the cage. They didn't seem to be well tended too and were quite agressive. Â Thanks again for the updates!
dubaidave
Did you get to go on any rides at Wonder World? Â It seeemed like the space shot was the only ride open when I was there.
packfanlv
When we first arrived it was only us there. It seemed like all of the kids rides were open. I wasn't really interested in riding the space shot, so the only ride we went on was the ferris wheel. We then took some pictures around the park and went across the street to the mall. I hadn't realized at that point that Siam Park City was so close to Wonder World or I would've gone to both in the same day. Â Why is it a theme of the company that owns Wonder World and Pattaya Park to build coasters that never operate?
dubaidave
I think they try to make their coasters on the cheap by cutting corners. I didn`t ride the space shot at wonder world but the one at Pattaya felt very unsafe and had an almost home made feel. The Coaster that has never run at Pattaya seemed to be built along the same lines as the space shot, almost as if they had just copied the space shot design and applied it to a coaster. The car on the non operating coaster there was the same design as the cars on the coaster that does run. In fact, they had clearly canabalised it to refit some of the other cars on the coaster. packfanlv
^I also noticed that the cars all seem to be the same! The only ride I went on in Pattaya was the coaster so I could get the credit. I think 200 baht to ride such a tame coaster is ridiculous! I did also zip line down from the tower which was scary, but a lot of fun. It made the trip out worth it! I think they have no idea how to run a park!
ChrisCrowder
Seems strange about the coasters. The blue one almost looks like it is going to have booster bike cars. Do you know if it is? It is the same style track as the booster bike at my local park, and thats also made by Vekoma. Â And do you know what the regulations in Thailand are? Are they as strict as "western" parks? mobilejom
no, it's not gonna be a booster bike....i've seen those track since 2005 and they're still undercontruction...haha...and no i dont think theme park regulations in thailand r strict. you still can bring camera on the coaster.
