Six Flags over Texas plans to sell alcohol.

Postby Flippero95 » Wed Dec 19, 2007 8:32 am

From the first line of the article in the Star Telegram this morning...

"Six Flags is betting that beer and roller coasters really will mix"

Here is a link to a related article on their web site:

Is beer available in many other US parks?

I know here in the UK some of the major parks do have alcohol available, including spirits. Or at least last time I looked they did, I don't normally drink then go ride coasters. Never noticed any problems, although did encounter one or 2 drunk people sat next to me on rides and got concerned they might throw up on me :|

As a life long passholder, I have to say this is a good move. Seeing that Jerryland (New Cowboys Stadium) is moving in down the street, it make good business sense. It'll allow them to attract a more diverse group of vending to the park. Maybe we'll get some decent eateries for once.

Purple: With beer sales and theme parks in the US, it depends on the region of the country its in. The part of texas where SFoT is based has a conservative bent, but I dont see a serious public outcry to sell beer as its available at other restaurants/bars in the area.

I don't think it's a bad move. If Disney's California Adventure can sell beer, I think most parks can. Drunkeness is usually not a problem because the beer is priced high, as it is at all amusement parks that sell it. If someone wants to get drunk before entering the park, you can't stop that anyway.

The Kemah Boardwalk has a Margarita stand literally 5 feet from the entrance of the Boardwalk Bullet. I've personally seen a few drunks ride it.

I think it's a bad idea all together. I mean here at Sfdk there are allready some crazy hyphy people walking around. So if they were to get ahold of alcohol I think it would ruin the "family" atmosphere

Why do I still have a donkey title???

SFNE already sells beer (albeit only a handful of places) and it does nothing to detract from the family atmosphere. Of course the bad thing about it is they charge an arm, a leg and a first born child for one beer.
