Photo TR: Port Aventura 08/05/07

Postby EmBy » Sun May 13, 2007 10:13 am

This is my first attempt at a Photo TR so forgive me if there are some mistakes.

I just got back to Ireland from a few days break in Barcelona, in which I could'nt miss the opportunity to visit Port Aventura. The park is located near Salou, south west of Barcelona, which is about about 80 mins by the train from Central Barcelona.

I found the park to be well layed out, with easy access to all attractions. You could use boats or park railway to navigate the seperate areas, but I choose to walk, as I found this easy enough once you get to know the directions from following the park map.

I also wanted to check on the progress of Furius Baco, which is the first ride that hits you when you enter the park. The track looks amazing with it sweeping across the water around some ships. There was a good deal of work still going on with the ride, with the station and surrounding grounds still needing landscaping. I only saw the train once while I was having lunch nearby, but it looked very impressive. From the park map the track does a figure of 8 formation with the station of the right hand side of the track. So it looked like a few more weeks work before it opens.
Entrance to the park.
The amazing Hurakan Condor in the distance.
What this I see in the distance?
Work being carried out on the station of Furius Baco.
The X type trains.
Peeking over the fence for a closer look.
The train skims the water at this point.
Worlds biggest palm tree compared to Hurakan Condor.
No wonder so many people bare foothed after this drop.
View of Dragon Khan from Diablo.
Strange one this ride, 3 lift hills????
Finally my favourite coaster in the park.
Mmm, red or blue????
This was like the Grand National put on fast forward, unreal.
Welcome to the Far West.
Welcome to Mexico, this place was fun, all the staff were dressed up in traditional Mexican dress.
The mighty Dragon Khan.
Going through one of the corkscrews, this pasted so close the the footpath.
Train tracks passing under the footers.
Amazing theming here in China.
Tami Tami.
Dragon Khan getting another appearance in, it can be seen from everywhere.
Close up of Tami Tami, you could nearly touch the track from here.
Highlight of my trip, meeting Betty Boo.

I'm a know-it-all about donkeys!

Thanks for the pics man. Tomorrow 'm leaving for Salou. I'm looking so forward to Stampida and Dragon Khan.

It will be a bit frustrating to see gorgeous Baco still under construction though.

I'm the gyro!
