Postby ParkTrips » Sun Aug 20, 2006 9:08 pm

Here are photos from my recent trip out west. Enjoy.
IMG_1318.JPG
First stop - credit run!!
IMG_1336.JPG
It's sorta fun, I guess
IMG_1319.JPG
Pretty much just drops and turns, but its pretty big for a portable
IMG_1328.JPG
The Tilt was pretty craptacular
IMG_1332.JPG
This was actually the only kiddie coaster I rode all week
IMG_1348.JPG
Next stop: Buffalo Bill's on a Saturday night!
IMG_1338.JPG
This one was incredibly lame
IMG_1340.JPG
Too bad the boat ride had a huge line, I would have liked to ride it, especially with the effects working
IMG_1343.JPG
Finally, Desperado! We took 4 rides, three in the back, one here in the front (which kicked our asses). Still a pretty good ride to me.
IMG_1345.JPG
Some of the worst McDonald's service ever. (accomplishment!)
IMG_1346.JPG
lol - balls.
IMG_1364.JPG
Monte Carlo had it all. Boobs for me and Robb, great food court for Elissa.
IMG_1357.JPG
Staying at the Monte Carlo meant we were close to Manhattan Express!!
IMG_1358.JPG
The Strip.
IMG_1361.JPG
I haven't been to NYC in almost 10 years, this is as close as it can get I guess
IMG_1354.JPG
lol, Hooters - where I put my meat in some chick's hand.
IMG_1359.JPG
This is where we ate dinner later that evening, I think it was at Mandalay Bay
IMG_1385.JPG
That can only be taken from one place...
IMG_1399.JPG
Yes, the Stratosphere Tower - the catalyst for a spike in Depends sales at the north end of the strip.
IMG_1378.JPG
bummer, a missed credit.
IMG_1388.JPG
It kinda looks like X-Scream's track now!
IMG_1390.JPG
Speaking of... that's just plain wrong. I think I will count it as a credit just due to the mental stress it induced
IMG_1366.JPG
OK tower ride, GREAT view.
IMG_1373.JPG
Again... ewwww!
IMG_1365.JPG
And I thought X Scream was bad... this is just plain wrong!!

"Staying at the Monte Carlo meant we were close to Manhattan Express!!" (ParkTrips)

You say that like it's a good thing...

But, nice TR. I was in Las Vegas in March and stopped by that Hooter's. Good times...

IMG_1401.JPG
What a wake-up call!
IMG_1404.JPG
yup, we got to test out the new trains. Apparently, they don't do much better than the old
IMG_1405.JPG
So, it wasn't very smooth for the most part, but I didn't think it was the worst coaster in the wotld as many do.. still, it's down there for me
IMG_1407.JPG
Actually, the funky heartline thing was ok
IMG_1410.JPG
We didnt go into Treasure Island, but I thought it looked very cool on the outside
IMG_1416.JPG
Perhaps my favorite hotel on the Strip, only because of the kickass sign! I watched it for like 10 minutes and even took video of it.. it's just beyond awesome.
IMG_1414.JPG
yay for funky malls!
IMG_1420.JPG
There is a coaster in there... two, really!
IMG_1430.JPG
Now due up to bat: Carolina Cyclone West
IMG_1442.JPG
The corkscrews were taken at insane speeds! I still liked it though, the ride wasn't too bad.
IMG_1436.JPG
I would not ride this one... only due to hieght limitations ;-)
IMG_1445.JPG
Inverters suck, but at least you get to see part of what the 'dome has to offer
IMG_1448.JPG
The tower ride was one of their latest additions, but we did not ride
IMG_1450.JPG
There is still one more major credit to get in Vegas... Speed!
IMG_1458.JPG
So I finally get my one chance to experience the legedary Premier restraints...
IMG_1456.JPG
The launch was pretty sweet, and the ride delivered a good bit of fun. It's probably the best ride in town to me.
IMG_1459.JPG
Kinda weird to be able to walk across track.. but you can't stand there when operating in case the station breaks fail!
IMG_1460.JPG
Well, if they fail, at least it could probably make for another roller coaster CSI when it crashes into the street...
IMG_1465.JPG
Since I don't have any photos of Derek to post, here is one *FOR* Derek.
IMG_1467.JPG
On the way back to Santa Clarita, we passed the awesome abandoned waterpark again... sad.

Say hello to my little friend!

I was in Las Vegas for about a week and I didi get a chance to ride Manhattan Express. It still had the old trains and it was one of the worst rides I have probably ever been on.

... continuing ...
IMG_1468.JPG
Once we got back, Rich flew in! Happy Birthday Rich!!
IMG_1470.JPG
Thursday morning brought us a chance to get a head start on the party and pick up some credits
IMG_1471.JPG
Never-before-seen
IMG_1475.JPG
Poor Orient Express, soo overshadowed
IMG_1477.JPG
Deja Vu just got 100x cooler... and horray!! I finally got my credit
freefall.jpg
It makes sense that Joey's old ride can't get it up...
IMG_1480.JPG
Batman, still kicking ass more than a decade later
IMG_1485.JPG
The longest line of the day was the kiddie coaster, even with three abreast at times!! We had to get Rich his credit
IMG_1495.JPG
I love Cedar Fair!
IMG_1494.JPG
Surely this is the park's signature shot...
IMG_1496.JPG
Old part of the park, NOT Cedar Fair-ized yet...
IMG_1499.JPG
GhostRider ran pretty rough, but was still fairly enjoyable.
IMG_1502.JPG
Crowds and our hosts kept us off the famous log flume on this visit =(
IMG_1503.JPG
I can finally say I've been on all the US rockets, and only Storm Runner tops Xcelerator IMO
IMG_1504.JPG
It has some of the coolest trains I heve ever seen
IMG_1505.JPG
It's go-time!
IMG_1514.JPG
The overbanks and stuff weren't as pointless as I would have expected, no moreso than fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo hill
IMG_1515.JPG
mmm... mags
IMG_1519.JPG
I feel like I am home.
IMG_1521.JPG
The water was running, but the ride was closed. I wouldn't have ridden anyways, but as far as the whole Knott's stereotype goes, I think this was the only ride we saw closed
IMG_1522.JPG
Perhaps the worst Boomerang I have done.
IMG_1524.JPG
The cool darkride thing that we chose to skip with a huge line, oh well, there will be a next time for me
IMG_1525.JPG
Again, parts of the park are still kickass.
IMG_1528.JPG
Aaah, Sliver Bullet, the park's latest roller coaster, an oft-lamented B&M Invert
IMG_1530.JPG
The well-placed cobra roll..
IMG_1534.JPG
It's almost as good as having a photo of Derek to grace my Photo TR
IMG_1535.JPG
Weee!!!
IMG_1536.JPG
Overall, I'd say its a lot like Talon, which I also liked. Not the best B&M Invert, but still a great ride that is better than most out there. Probably a 'B-' ride
IMG_1508.JPG
yeah, we also did Jaguar! which was cool but not quite up to MOA's version
IMG_1510.JPG
And finally, we are in need of a dorky coaster photo, so why not do so with the best ride in the park?

Last batch, I hope you enjoyed.
IMG_1538.JPG
yet another annoying SFMM pre-opening show, but unlike April, the crowd didn't seem to buy into it as much
IMG_1541.JPG
More Tatsu!!
IMG_1545.JPG
Yet another shot that I found that no one else has
IMG_1550.JPG
"What do you mean I'm supposed to stand-up??"
IMG_1558.JPG
OMG OMG OMG
IMG_1559.JPG
Tatsu shots never get old.
IMG_1561.JPG
I did not patronize the Arrow corner this trip =
IMG_1562.JPG
I DID patronize Tatsu, 4 times in fact. Great ride.
IMG_1573.JPG
To some, this is the Valley of Death!!
IMG_1570.JPG
lol both Batman and Riddler's were stuck on the lift at the same time
IMG_1571.JPG
It doesn't go up much further..
IMG_1575.JPG
Simply awesome.
IMG_1577.JPG
Yay, Ninja was open on Saturday!! I love Ninja
IMG_1579.JPG
this is why you shouldn't let Ryan hold your camera..
IMG_1580.JPG
...
IMG_1582.JPG
Finally, a picture of Derek!!! So.. who's boobs are better, Derek's or mine? If you know the answer, email dan!!
IMG_1589.JPG
Casey and Derek conquer lame Goliath
IMG_1595.JPG
I love that hellix
IMG_1591.JPG
me = happy to be on Goliath Ryan = dazed and confused evan = cut off ::sad::
IMG_1597.JPG
DENIED!! (in the lamest situation ever)
IMG_1600.JPG
At least Casey (and Gisco's Hot Daughter and Jim) got to ride Canyon Blaster
IMG_1601.JPG
Anyone find it funny that the sign looks rusted and kinda nasty?
IMG_1602.JPG
I never said my photos were unique..
IMG_1603.JPG
More Tatsu, you just can never get enough.
IMG_1605.JPG
This hurts me inside.
IMG_1607.JPG
SEE! Very sad.
IMG_1608.JPG
Down we go..
IMG_1611.JPG
There it is, in all its tamed glory!!
IMG_1615.JPG
yea, that's the Fastpass line
IMG_1622.JPG
Random picture from the party where Derek pulls a quick move..
IMG_1623.JPG
I thoroughly enjoyed my first TPR Party
IMG_1625.JPG
awww... bye bye SoCal! I'll miss you and some of your inhabitants!!
IMG_1633.JPG
Unfortunately I had a connecting flight, but YAY for a new airport credit.
IMG_1634.JPG
Downtown Indianapolis, for those who couldn't tell by the first shot
IMG_1632.JPG
That's all, I'm pounding it good-bye! I hope you enjoyed.

Great photos, Joe. Although those shots of Xcelerator make me cringe. They need to paint that thing desperately; the supports almost look white! :omg:
