Photo TR: Camelot/Gulliver's Warrington - May 14/15

Postby Shockwave » Tue May 17, 2005 9:35 am

With the sun out, I went out for the weekend to do some shameless coaster-whoring at Camelot theme park. I had only a couple of hours so it was a straight in-straight out affair.

First I got my two kiddy coasters out the way before the bigger challenge of Whirlwind. It's running a bit rough, but it's still better than any Reverchon/Zamperla spinner I've been on.

Then I went to the Gauntlet, which really is a rough as it looks. A round with Mike Tyson would have sufficed compared to this!

After visiting the neurosurgery, I headed over to the Rack. One of Vekoma's better rides. The front seat view is really exhilerating as the gondolas come back towards each other!

The staff were pretty monochrome, not much smiling went on here. Food wasn't spectacular, and was really overpriced for what you got. Packed lunches next time.

And that was pretty much it. More photos to come, along with Gullivers World Warrington!

The Rack might be Vekoma all over, but it's the best flat ride in the park.

Next day, Gullivers was calling, and we duely answered!

This park is a real surprise! The staff all have a cheery face and the food is better than your average theme park's menu. The potato wedges in the Lost World are a must-eat!

The park has three coasters. Antelope is the big draw, a wooden coaster with good little layout, but really rough around the back section. Wild Mine Ride is a wild mouse coaster which doesn't use its trim brakes. Bruises shall follow. Runaway Train is a kiddy coaster with attitude - not least because it's the same colour as the best coaster in the world.

The flat rides aren't spectacular, but a kid's magic carpet and chairplane ride are a good draw. And the have one of those crazy SBF Flying mahcines like the ones at Clementon. The Observation Tower gives good views as well, but we were too busy eating potato wedges!

Gulliver's World is well better than Camelot! Better rides, better food, better entrance fee, better go back soon! See the pictures for more quirky comments...

Indeed some good photos there - but where's the pictures of Dragon Flyer ?

The most silliest "WTF" coaster I've been on & I think it's the best coaster there.

The Vekoma ride "Gaunlet" is Okay - makes a worrying loud whirring noise as the arms go spin around.

If you want to see just how rough the Pinfari single loop coaster is - just look at Nick's (cllins) Bump & Bruises clip posted this week in the TPR video contest

Nice to see some pictures of Antelope too

The Vekoma ride is great fun! The two gondolas stretch away from each other as the arms move apart, and then when the arms line up, the cars come together!

It used to be along the New Jersey Shore somewhere I think - but that's all I know!

The queues were huge. And I really didn't have the time to go on, so I left it out of the update. I'm going back later in the year with a voucher for £5 off entry, as £16 is bordering on daft.

But here's a few I took last year!

This used to be the best flat ride in the park.
