DerekRx
So since I've never been there, wanted to see the woman, and had to get to Albany to see family anyway that weekend, I decided to make Seabreeze a good place to visit this weekend. The 5 hour drive on Friday night wasn't bad, but the weather on Saturday was. Rained the whole day in the area, which was good for lite crowds, but not if you wanted to enjoy the park. We ended up doing all the coasters and then left, as I didn't want to be too wet for my 3 hour drive. The park reminds me of Waldameer. Little park, lots of classic rides, couple of coasters, both with spinning Mauer Sohnes, etc. Waldameer seems like a more complete park, but as of right now Seabreeze has the better coaster selection, as Bobsled is just weird and fun, and Jack Rabbit is way better than Comet. Will this be the case once Waldameer gets RF2? I also attempted to go to Sylvan Beach outside of Syracuse on my way to Albany, but the park was closed because of the weather. And so, 40 minutes later we were finished with the park, and off to get dry near the mall! No Bear Trax for us, guess we'll have to save that for when we have children The rain really helped speed up the ride, but also really hurt when we rode in the front. Next time I'll wear glasses, thanks! Not the greatest trains on the planet, but still lots of fun considering how old it is Jack Rabbit was a surprisenly good woodie, even the girl who didn't know it was only 70 out wanted to reride The flumey flume has an olden classican looken to its droppenen The train and the log flume go through the same pond area "I go upside down, gimme some candy!" Yup, mini-Tumblebug. In 50 years it will turn into a real Tumblebug and Todd Long will try to save it The park has some bumper cars, which are used for bumping French Canadians who try to invade our country Ooooh, Gyrosphere, the best musty smelling indoor Scrambler in Rochester And a classic cuddle up, but since it wasn't covered, we didn't ride it The park also has a nice carousel We spun pretty good, probably because once again they were only allowing 2 people per car because of the rain. And still has a moment of "90 degrees!" Though not as good as Dragon's Fury, its still a load of fun! Next up is Whirlwind, the spinning coaster If Balder is a steel coaster, is this a woodie? Which was still only like 15 minutes, but there were only like 15 people in front of us! Only 2 cars are allowed on the track at a time, and only 2 people per car when its raining, so the wait was the longest of the day It looks like it used to be a side friction coaster First stop, quirky Bobsled with its steel track, wooden frame, and bad capacity Through the turnstyle and Nicole is already not digging the rain So here's Seabreeze, in all its wetness
sfne2005
"Derek and Nicole do it in 40 minutes".... Boy, thats like 10 times longer than in England roomy! Nice job!
niiicolaaah
^Haha! When did you get so funny, Rich? Great photos, Derek, despite the crappy weather. Your new camera must be magical! I had lots of fun, even though it rained the entire 40 minutes we were there. I probably would have wanted to stay longer had I not just visited the park back in May and already ridden everything I wanted to ride... Except the log flume! Oh well, it looks stupid anyway. I just want to see if there's anything cool in the tunnel (I know there isn't).
pianojohn
Wow! I had not seen pics of the park since I was there in 1984 after the ACE Coaster Con at Crystal Beach (showing my age!) I do remember the Jack Rabbit had different trains, and the log ride's drop was like a 60 degree angle! Glad you had fun!
sixflagsmagicmountain
Whirlwind looks fun, I still haven't been on a spinning coaster.

larrygator
I know that you know this, but you didn't miss much at Sylvan Beach. I did it alone in 25 minutes. Insert joke here...

Though you are hanging out with Derek, so he may make sure you still have more than me by the end of the year....
waterviper
I'm surprised it took you 40 minutes!! How wet did Nicole get??? JJ This statement can have a completely different "meaning"!!! Unless this is exactly what your "meaning" was!!
niiicolaaah
Jeff: Very wet. And I loved every second! Erik: I will have way more credits than you by the end of the season! How many do you have now anyway?
Erik Johnson
^^ 106 Even with my upcoming trip, I see now that there will probably be no way to top you this year. But there is always next.
DerekRx
^Well we already are planning on getting Nicole on at least another 10 new coasters this season, and don't count on catching her next year either, unless you're going to Japan. Even if all she does next year is stuff within driving distance of me, we're still around 30, and if we do some trips to Kings Dominion, Busch Euroburg, and Dollywood, we're more around 50 for her. Face it Johnson, unless you get out of Florida, you'll always have one of the lamest counts in the community
Shockwave
What's going on with your weather Nicole? Over here it's hot and sunny very day the moment, and our summer weather usually sucks! The Maurer Sohne spinner looks half decent - it can't be any worse than the one at Drievliet!
Dailey Enterprizes
The Bobsleds look crazy and even crazier back in Robb's 2003 on-ride videos. According to rcdb.com, The Bobsleds were built by John A. Miller as a junior coaster (just like Waldameer's Comet except it was built by PTC), so I guess it wasn't a side-friction coaster. Then in the late 1960's the park added the steel track, but I'm trying to figure out if it was Arrow who made the track for Seabreeze? Well whatever, it looks fun... But I think I am totally doomed this as well as next year. Though I may get 50+ credits next year if the coaster gods are good to me. Oh well, at least I have my new Xbox to play with.... It would be cool to get her back down to Florida as well as those other trips...*hint* *hint*
RCoasterny
The Bobsleds look crazy and even crazier back in Robb's 2003 on-ride videos. According to rcdb.com, The Bobsleds were built by John A. Morgan provided the rolling stock. Seabreeze did some modifications when Whirlwind debuted. Thier plan was to convert it to a 2-car train. The Bobsled actually has 4 cars, one was probably in storage. They added an automatic system that would advance and stop the cars throughout the station by using a tire advancing system. Previously the cars were stopped by a spring loaded side friction brake, and was manually released by the operator. The Jack Rabbit is the only coaster in the park that uses manual brakes! Nrthwnd
I just want to see if there's anything cool in the tunnel (I know there isn't). Hmmm. That sounded.....disappointing didn't it, Derek? Well at least, Tusenfryd got you ready for anything remotely wet, heh heh. Nice TR, guys. Now go have another beer.
Dailey Enterprizes
^^ Hmm interesting, it seems like some crazy idea for a backyard coaster. The park did a pretty damn good job on that track; I thought it was Arrow because the Matterhorn Bobsleds looks like it uses the same gauge and everything.
