Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm positive it will be open on Saturday barring any kind of mechanical setback. It is Coaster Celebration and ERT is set for 8:30AM. If it is not open there will be a bunch of unhappy nerds at the park in the early morning.

El Toro media day MONDAY!!!!!!

From Xtreme Coasters

I just received an email from Kristin Siebenecher, the public relations manager for Six Flags Great Adventure:

MEDIA ALERT * MEDIA ALERT

For Immediate Release June 10, 2006

On June 12, Run With The Bulls At Six Flags Great Adventure As The

Monstrous 'El Toro' Wooden Roller Coaster Is Unleashed

WHAT:

El Toro, Six Flags Great Adventure's highly-anticipated, monstrous

wooden coaster, will celebrate its grand opening June 12 in Jackson, NJ.

Media are invited to enjoy exclusive ride time on the coaster before it

opens to the public that afternoon.

WHEN:

MONDAY, June 12, 2006 at 11 a.m.

WHERE:

Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, NJ. Exit 7A of NJ Turnpike to

I-195 East to Exit 16A; OR GSP to Exit 98 to I-195 West to Exit 16. All

media - use employee entrance 100 yds. past main entrance. Follow signs

to media event. Event starts promptly at 11 am.

DETAILS: El Toro, which has the steepest vertical drop of any

wooden coaster in the world, 76 white-knuckled degrees, marries the

smooth height, speed, technology and exciting twisting elements of steel

coasters with a classic wooden design.

El Toro's launch will be highlighted by roller coaster enthusiasts

from six states including New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey taking

part in a "Running of the Bulls." Led by Spanish "Running of the

Bulls" veteran Jesus Urtasun of Willingboro, NJ, participants will

charge toward the coaster dressed in traditional red-and-white Running

of the Bulls attire, and compete to be the first to take on the fierce

El Toro.

At 188 feet tall, reaching 70 mph, El Toro ranks among the tallest and

fastest wooden roller coasters in the world. In addition to its

record-breaking vertical drop, its 4,400 feet of mountainous track has

the second tallest, fastest and longest drop of any wooden coaster in

America.

GREAT VIDEO, AUDIO AND INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES!

TV ASSIGNMENT EDITORS - El Toro-mounted reverse point-of-view camera

will be available to film your reporter, and great ride b-roll tapes

will be available.

Expect a full report for Coaster World News later Monday night, and hopefully a reverse POV that will be uploaded Tuesday morning.

El Toro IS open! I got a ride in the front row!

(Pictures taken after the public opening around 2pm today)

The airtime is just hella crazy insane. The ops have been instructed to MEGA Staple EVERY rider because of it. The ejector air is so intense, I've never felt anything close! (Not even SROS)

After the biggest pop of Ejector Air EVER on the passover of RT, the twister section FLIES through the first half and then slows down for the pull into the brakes. This thing is insane. Seriously.
