sdcfan88
Here is a progress update on Project 2020 AKA Mystic River Falls at SDC from my recent visit this week. Video: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Lake Silver has been drained for the winter season. The new Ribhouse is coming along nicely. Canal landscaping work continues. Note the addition of trees, shrubbery, and detailed rockwork. Work continues on the pumphouse/lift/drop area. The loading station under construction. Fingers
Looking for a little help here. Heading to the park next friday and I am looking for any discount on tickets that don't include listening to a timeshare sales pitch. Last year they had a great deal on their website but don't seem to be offering it again this year. Do any stores sell discount tickets besides the special thursday tickets? Thanks in advance for the help.
ytterbiumanalyst
First weekend of Old Time Christmas! Waffles and wassail! Haven't noticed this before. No need for it today though. TREES!!! The outdoor seating pavilion is taking shape. Through the glory holes! Glass has been installed in the BBQ place. Photo op at Santa Claus Lane (River Blast) Outlaw Run is sporting some lights. Midtown looks as great as ever!

ytterbiumanalyst
Last update of the season! Remember for those planning a trip this year, that Mystic River Falls will not be opening with the park in March. Expect it around May.
Jaykethekid
I find it interesting how many of the buildings in this area are sporting aluminum siding. Kinda plain as it is, but im sure they're probably gonna get painted with some more details as the project progresses closer to opening. But, the rockwork around the ride looks stellar already. Im sure it will look even more incredible with water flowing through it!

sdcfan88
They are going for the of tin roof look, hopefulle.they give it all the ol' rust look paint treatment. I am liking this look much better. Yes this style is better fitting with the theme of the time period especially once it gets that weathered look in a few years. Some of the other stuff they have done in recent years has been okay but a tad bit too clean and modern for 1880's IMHO.
Hilltopper39
This project kinda slipped under my radar earlier this year but after going on Infinity Falls at SeaWorld recently these newer generation rapids rides are a lot of fun and a huge draw, that thing had a decent line even on a fairly cold day in December. I realize this one isn't made by Intamin but it seems to be a similar product and designed within an existing park setting with plenty of views and interaction points similar to Infinity Falls which was really fun. Gone are the days of rapids ride being tucked away out of sight in the back corner of a park which I probably for the better. Looks like a great addition to SDC. ytterbiumanalyst
It's an excellent addition and I feel like it's getting passed over because it's not a coaster and Branson is pretty out of the way for a lot of people. It does seem inspired by Infinity Falls, Grizzly, Kali, and the like. It's really impressive already, and they don't have the drop built yet. This will tower over the Riverfront area. We already bought our 2020 passes, so I'll have a couple updates in the spring. Hopefully SDC's PR will have some over this winter too.

sdcfan88
Since their sister park Dollywood is allegedly announcing plans for reopening in the next month or so, I am curious to see what SDC is up to. Their social media pages have been pretty quiet and they haven't even been hyping up and promoting Mystic River Falls as of late with the construction updates. I am very curious to see the progress as it was originally slated to open at the end of the month before all the COVID19 stuff happened. But I am suspecting we can start returning to the park by Mid-June.
SharkTums
^I think it's actually somewhat responsible to just be quiet about reopening right now. No use getting everyones hopes up or crushed when there are so many factors at play. Wait till they're darn near certain about an opening timeline and then start announcing stuff. sdcfan88
So unless there's a spike in COVID19 cases, it looks like Silver Dollar City is set to begin a phased reopening on the weekend of June 13th-14th for season pass holders only. General public opening will be afterward on the 15th. (reservation will be required) https://www.ky3.com/content/news/Silver-Dollar-City-announces-reopening-date-for-2020-570923011.html CHANGES: Masks will be required and temperatures will be taken. (guests under 3 are exempt) Metal detectors have been installed at the front gate by the old bag check area. Capacity limits will be enforced to comply with social distancing guidelines. White Water will also reopen to season pass holders on the 15th-16th and to the general public on the 17th. Showboat Branson Belle reopens June 20th. Mystic River Falls WILL NOT be opening and has been pushed back to a TDB date for later this summer. Again, there is still a chance these dates will be subject to change.
