August 29 is the biggest day of the year for Six Flags! We announce our incredible new rides for 2020 AND we have biggest sale of the year. This year, we're doing something a little different...

On August 14 we're having a special PRE-SALE for our Season Pass holders. Take advantage of our Flash Sale pricing on 2020 Season Passes before everyone else! Check back here on August 14 to see our incredible offers. You'll still need to wait until August 29 to find out what thrilling attractions we're adding in 2020 though!

Well this is interesting and unexpected. As long as I can continue to buy a season pass I’m happy. Also just as some of you were predicting SFMM 2020 attraction is getting announced before WCR opens.

Let's be reasonable. Disney doesn't start making your food until you check in either. Neither do McDonald's, Sonic, or anyone else. There was always zero chance Six Flags would make your food before you check in.

as I noted, I'm absolutely willing to give it a chance once it goes live and we see how they plan it to actually work, so open minded about it now.

but I'd think if you pay when you order? then your food would be ready when you walk in.

(one of the questions on the survey I took was basically, "when would you be willing to pay for the food" -- and the options were like: when you order, before you arrive. when you arrive at the restaurant. when you get your food).

so they might be considering the options.

but again, open minded and willing to give it a chance

I get that. I just don't expect them to innovate at all. Right now all the fast food apps have you prepay then check in when you arrive, and Disney has followed suit. It's a model that works, and it's a relatively small percentage of customers. Six Flags will want to tap into this but not rock the boat. It's their MO.

Yeah, its annoying to have to check in, but to me, a big appeal to the online ordering is knowing that my order is being communicated as clearly and efficiently as possible. It makes zero sense to verbally tell somebody what it is, only for them to punch in the order when I could have just punched it in the way I wanted it. And I can also check-in while approaching so that saves some time.

There are still some kinks to work out. I've seen some fast foods where they haven't exactly gotten the priority level right, and I've seen at a Chipotle where I walked in with my order submitted past the come-by time, and somebody who got in the stand-by line after me got his burrito before me. They need to do what they can to give food past the comeback time absolute priority over the stand-by line. I don't think check-ins are necessary at all really. Just give people comeback times based on how many orders are submitted and how long you expect the stand-by line to be and add a bit of a buffer too.

Ideally, newly designed stores should have space for the assembly row where the stand-by line people ask for their orders in person, and a station in the back where employees are dedicated to making call in and catering orders.

I absolutely think that online ordering should overtake stand-by lines for theme parks, movie theaters, sports stadiums etc. If not through a phone, then through touch screens.

I hope Six Flags doesn't have as many problems opening their 2020 rides as they have been opening their 2019 rides. I also wouldn't be surprised if SFMM promotes West Coast Racers as their 2020 ride along with something minor, such as a waterpark expansion.

The presale site says you’ll need a password provided in the August 14th pass holder announcements email, I’ve received that email from 3 different parks and none of them mention the password. They only talk about the official start of the flash sale on the 26th and the ride announcements on the 29th. I was ready to buy my passes today lol.

Interesting, I hadn't received an email yet. (Over Texas)

Did you receive an email from the park you bought your pass from?

I'm curious to see what perks they stripped away from the passes. Specifically if a season pass will become usable at just a single park.

Um nothing? I'm not sure why this rumor of stripped down to them just getting rid of passes is still out there.

In fact they added some extra perks to the passes this year.

Such as? What was added?

They've shown that they prefer memberships over passes...

is it just me or are memberships cheaper now than they were before? I'm paying 18.75 for diamond elite from when they originally offered the memberships, seeing Diamond Elite now for 16.99. Guessing the only way to get the price (per past interactions) is to cancel and do a new commitment.

Is this a pre-tax price? Cause in Ohio with 8% sales tax 16.99 will turn into about $18.34 as the actual charge per month.

no being charged 20.63 a month, which is 18.75 + 10% MD tax. Think the difference right now is they are charging the price you get with 4+ people even for single user accounts. So that's the difference.

There was a new survey sent out today about changes to employee appearance policy, more specifically about allowing more kinds of hairstyles for men with long hair. This seems to be in response to the teen who was denied a job at SFOT earlier this year because of his dreadlocks, which they deemed an "extreme hairstyle". I thought it was interesting that they actually listened to the outrage and are considering making changes to their appearance/dress code because of it, because Six Flags isn't exactly the most receptive company

^^I just filled that one out, because I sure as heck want to know about any policies Six Flags is considering changing. I'm generally in favor of liberal self-expression and grooming policies, although I do understand the reasoning behind typical levels of strictness.

Back to the Memberships. A few years back I got a Glld Membership at SFStL and had a nice low price. However what made me go back to the passes is the fact they doubled the price of the membership after 12 months. I canceled my membership soon after and went back to a pass.

This was back when memberships were a new thing. However I see every August and September we get the Flash Sale prices. So what do you guys with memberships do when the Flash sale comes? Do you have to cancel at the 10 month mark and get a new membership or is there another way to deal with the 12th month price increase?

^ Nope, that's not true. They can change the price on you at any time after you have met your 12 month commitment. They just have to notify you first.

Minimum Term; Changes in the Price of Your Membership: The monthly membership payment will not change during the Minimum Term. (However, sales taxes and other government-imposed fees are not part of the membership price and may be added or adjusted at any time without notice as required by law.) You agree that Six Flags may change your monthly membership payments any time after the expiration of the Minimum Term. Six Flags will give you notice of any change in your monthly membership payments before the new payment amount goes into effect, by sending a notice to the email address you provide. If you do not wish to continue your membership at the new payment amount, you must cancel your membership as described in the Cancellation Procedure below. When the new payment amount goes into effect, Six Flags will charge your Card for the new monthly membership payments of all Members, unless you cancel according to the terms of this agreement. You acknowledge that your monthly membership payments may be different from others’ monthly membership payments because of discounts or promotions offered to others for which you may not be eligible or which are not available at the time you sign up.

ALL THE SIX FLAGS 2020 ANNOUNCEMENTS!

2020NewCapMap_Large.thumb.jpg.24c541c7f555580351b056d12ca9ae03.jpg

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE:SIX), the world’s largest regional theme park company and the largest operator of waterparks in North America, today announced an expansive lineup of innovative roller coasters, family rides, waterslides and thrilling attractions for the 2020 season. The company is also adding the Hurricane Harbor name to three more of its waterparks as it makes massive renovations to provide a signature Six Flags experience.

“This is our biggest and most diverse lineup in the company’s history, featuring world-class thrills for the entire family including high-tech waterslides utilizing futuristic, AquaLucent technology, record-breaking roller coasters, and first-in-the-industry family attractions. Six Flags is committed to delivering remarkable experiences in every park, every year,” said Six Flags Chairman, President and CEO Jim Reid-Anderson. “Additionally, three of our newest waterparks—Magic Waters, White Water Bay and Darien Lake’s Splashtown—will be rebranded to Six Flags Hurricane Harbors in 2020 as we make major investments in these properties with impressive, new water attractions and extensive upgrades, giving our Members and Season Pass Holders even more value and more reasons to visit our incredible portfolio of parks.”

Six Flags is unveiling an unparalleled roster of exciting new offerings for the 2020 season:

Six Flags Great Adventure, the World’s Ultimate Thrill Park, will shatter three world records when it debuts a coaster of legendary proportions—the tallest, fastest and longest single rail coaster. Jersey Devil Coaster will tower 13 stories and reach speeds up to 58 mph as riders soar through the dark and foreboding woods along 3,000 feet of imposing track. Inspired by infamous New Jersey folklore, the fiendish coaster will feature five intense elements including two dramatic inversions.

Six Flags Over Georgia, the Thrill Capital of the South—introduces two devious villain attractions in the all-new Gotham City. Thrill-seekers will spin wildly on Catwoman Whip while suspended from her twirling wheel of chaos. Riders are raised by a giant arm, feet dangling, and are launched into a high-speed spin…round and round…seven stories toward the sky. Also new for 2020, Poison Ivy Toxic Twister will send riders through a classic scramble that puts a new twist on spinning.

Six Flags Great America, the Thrill Capital of the Midwest, continues its record-breaking streak in 2020 with the world-record water coaster, Tsunami Surge. Towering an incredible 86 feet in height, this innovative water coaster will be the tallest-of-its-kind in the world. Riders will reach a top speed of 28 mph over 950 feet of enclosed tunnels and open-air slides with three gravity-defying blasts and five breathtaking drops. Tsunami Surge will also feature AquaLucent technology, giving riders the sensation of traveling at the speed of light as brilliant colors and dreamlike imagery heighten the ride experience.

Six Flags Mexico, the undisputed Thrill Capital of Latin America, announced its most exciting ride to date—CraZanity—the world’s tallest pendulum ride. With a record height more than 50 meters, this enormous, giant disk will reach speeds over 120 kilometers per hour as it whips back and forth, and higher and higher, to give riders an amazing view of the world all around them.

Six Flags Darien Lake, the Thrill Capital of New York State, is excited to announce that its waterpark will become Six Flags Hurricane Harbor and welcome a massive new slide. Wahoo Wave and its one-of-a-kind water wall will elevate the park’s already powerful roster of heat-beating attractions. This adrenaline-packed adventure sends four riders into near vertical surges to experience extended hang times and zero g-forces. Riders plunge 30 feet straight down before sweeping up at high speeds as they arc across the top of a massive water wall, virtually defying gravity before descending into a refreshing pool below.

Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, will debut Aquaman: Power Wave, the first-of-its-kind water coaster in North America. Standing an impressive 148 feet tall, this massive attraction launches riders backward across more than 700 feet of track at 63 mph. As the ride completes its action-packed cycle, riders are launched forward from a 90-degree angle for the ultimate splashdown. Aquaman: Power Wave will be the park’s 15th coaster.

Six Flags Great Escape Resort, New York’s Most Thrilling Resort Property, announces the Adirondack Outlaw. This high-flying ride will have guests catching maximum airtime and experiencing 360-degree rotations of heart-pounding excitement. The head-over-heels exhilaration of Adirondack Outlaw will elevate riders to unmatched heights as they travel more than 50 mph. This rebellious ride swings 16 stories high, offering spectacular views of Lake George.

La Ronde, Quebec’s leading destination for thrills and family entertainment, will introduce the first ever free-fly coaster in Canada. Vipère takes coaster riding to the next level, sending riders on a head over heels journey with unexpected drops, vertical free-falls and gravity-defying somersaults. This thrilling ride will give guests the feeling of weightlessness as they soar outside the confines of a traditional track.

Six Flags New England, the Thrill Capital of New England, will introduce its latest thrill in 2020. Guests will take an adrenaline-charged flight on the all-new Supergirl Sky Flyer attraction as they soar nearly seven stories through the sky in open-air vehicles. Drawing on DC Super Hero Supergirl’s powers of stamina and strength, thrill-seekers spin and tilt at maximum speeds while suspended from the massive whirling wheel. The giant disc is raised as riders are launched into a high-speed spin, feet dangling…round and round…higher and higher. Supergirl will be located next to the park’s top ranked coaster, Superman The Ride, in the DC Super Hero Adventures section.

Magic Waters will become Hurricane Harbor Rockford when it opens next summer. The park is also adding to its thrilling attraction lineup with the only tailspin waterslide in the Midwest—Tidal Wave. This uniquely designed waterslide will send riders through a limitless wave as they descend from 43 feet above the ground, reaching speeds of 15 mph through twists and turns. The thrill slide will feature new AquaLucent technology, adding another level of excitement as the dark twists and turns light up in dazzling, full-color patterns.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Phoenix, the Largest Waterpark in Arizona, is offering guests a bigger, better and wetter experience with its largest expansion in years. The exciting, new Paradise Island will feature a 12,000 square foot activity pool. Guests will keep cool and enjoy plenty of fun in the sun with a new water volleyball area and a unique water basketball court. The addition will also include more shade, lounge seating, restrooms and new culinary options.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Arlington, the Largest Waterpark in North Texas, will open an all-new slide complex called, Banzai Pipeline. Guests will have the choice of three slides with multiple twists, turns and drops down a four-story tower for a thrilling and refreshing ride

Six Flags White Water Atlanta, the Southeast’s Largest Waterpark, will debut Python Plunge, a striking five-story water slide with multiple swirling discs and adrenaline-pumping drops. The massive water slide features two-person rafts that slither along a 500-foot course and careen around giant saucer-shaped turns before sending guests plunging into the pool below.

White Water Bay will become Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Oklahoma City when the park opens next spring for the 2020 season. The Largest Waterpark in Oklahoma is also debuting an exhilarating, new high-speed racing complex—Wahoo Racer—a multi-lane water complex that gives riders two uniquely different experiences. The park will also receive numerous upgrades and bright, tropical theming throughout.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas, the Thrill Capital of South Texas, will debut Daredevil Dive Flying Machines, the world’s tallest ride-of-its-kind. Experience the thrills and sensations of weightlessness through aerial banks, loops and dives, all while seated in a retro, four-seater steampunk flying machine. Sharply turning right side up and upside down, riders will break from formation and maneuver into aerobatic dogfights during the barnstorming journey, all while soaring nearly five stories above Crackaxle Canyon.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, the Thrill Capital of Northern California, is adding its 12th roller coaster, Sidewinder Safari. This unique, combination family coaster and animal exhibit immerses guests in a jungle-like setting as they enter the queue line surrounded by live snakes, lizards and other reptiles. Guests will then travel along 1,378 feet of slithering track with twisting and turning hairpin curves, rapid strike drops and 360-degree spins.

Six Flags St. Louis, the Coaster Capital of Missouri, is unleashing Catwoman Whip to catapult guests into thrilling chaos. The adventure begins as the ride’s giant arm launches 16 guests, with feet dangling, 164 feet into the air. As the massive arm whips around at up to 52 mph in a spinning rotation, the unique open-air pods are simultaneously flipping guests head over heels. From 16 stories high, guests will plummet back down toward the ground only to complete the rotation all over again for an intense adrenaline rush.

Six Flags America, DC’s Thrill Capital, will open its newest attraction, Harley Quinn Spinsanity. The oversized giant pendulum ride, named after DC super villain HARLEY QUINN, promises to deliver epic, high-flying excitement as it spins and swings to breathtaking heights. The towering, swinging, giant disc will reach speeds up to 70 mph as it whips back and forth, going higher and higher while constantly spinning, giving riders an exhilarating riding experience.

Six Flags Magic Mountain, the undisputed “Thrill Capital of the World,” will have the biggest-ever expansion of the park’s two signature annual events, Fright Fest in the fall and Holiday in the Park during the winter season. The expanded event offerings will be located in the newly renovated area of the park, The Underground, where the new coaster, West Coast Racers, will soon open. Both events will have an urban “street vibe” and feature exciting and uniquely themed activities and entertainment, adding an entirely different dimension to each of the park’s most popular events.

This fall, Six Flags delivers the biggest and scariest Halloween event on the planet—Fright Fest®. No one does Halloween like Six Flags with plenty of Thrills by Day and Fright by Night and more ghouls, more haunted mazes and more terrifying scares than ever before. Also, back by popular demand, Six Flags is featuring the 30-Hour Coffin Challenge. Brave, would-be coffin dwellers are encouraged to sign up for the most frightening night of their lives and the chance to win a cash prize and 2020 Season Passes…if they dare.

Later in the year, tis the season for a winter spectacular as 13 parks ring in the holidays with Holiday in the Park®. This treasured, time-honored Six Flags tradition offers a winter wonderland of all the beloved sights and sounds of the season. Holiday in the Park features festive holiday-themed shows and delicious seasonal treats, along with select rides and attractions, set against the backdrop of millions of twinkling lights.

Six Flags is also announcing the start of 2020 Season Pass sales with its amazing Flash Sale through Labor Day weekend, featuring the best deal of the year-—savings up to 70% off on a 2020 Pass.

From August 29 through September 2, guests will receive a free upgrade to a Gold Combo Season Pass with every Pass purchased. Gold Combo Season Passes include admission to any Six Flags park, as well as free parking and special admission offers for friends.

So I posted this in the Great Adventure thread but so as not to de-rail the coaster talk, I think it would be better here:

Is it normal for Six Flags to just suddenly post their announcements on social media at a random time? I was surprised to see the timestamp of just over an hour ago (when I made this post) on their announcement video and it was maybe 70-90 minutes before it seemed many sites posted the press releases. Even on the official SF media there seemed such little discussion, retweets, or even comments as if the time wasn't when people expected. It was maybe 2 hours after that post when the fb/twitter seemed to start to get attention.

None of the moderators posted that White Water Bay Oklahoma City has been Flagged as a Six Flags Park. 2020 it's going to be called Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Oklahoma City. Not surprised about Frontier City getting forgotten about this year. I'm just hoping they dump money into infrastructure like paint and upgrade both Silver Bullet and Diamond Back. Redo the restrooms and build a restroom on the South end of the park. Expand on the parks dining options it was lack luster and basic this past year. Redo their parking lot. I would be happy if Six Flags invested in Frontier City's infrastructure. Then add a major new ride in 2021.
