Dombot
Didn't they used to have a Villains Unleashed thing every Halloween at Hollywood Studios? Idk if they have that anymore, but this definitely seems to be a "sequel" to that event. Not that I'm complaining, this sounds fantastic and I really want to attend one of the nights just to see the dragon float at night.

anonymouscactus
*in before "ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY RAAHHRRR"* Personally I think it's awesome, and as Bill said, literally nothing is changing or impacting the normal daytime experience. NOTHING! It now gives people who want to go in the evening or would only be making a one or two park purchase instead of planning a whole vacation around the parks an opportunity at a new way to experience Disney. There is literally nothing to complain about and in many cases it's a much better value compared to a $155 peak day ticket. Yes it's less time but you can do so much in that little time. The one "free" villain event they had previously at Hollywood Studios was so chaotic and most couldn't even get into the park that day with the traffic (myself included), so this is the perfect way to do it. I don't remember how many times they tried doing that, but I know it was ridiculous the one year and people were waiting 2+ hours for a photo with a random character because by the time they waited for who they wanted they had already switched out for someone else. lol I did after-hours for Animal Kingdom I would totally do the same at MK... and getting the villains bonuses is even better. Nrthwnd
I miss WDW's Blue Sky plans on what a 5th Gate, Villains Park would be like. P.S. One of the ideas for such a park or land, was to have it (as a land) directly behind Fantasyland, with Bald Mountain looming up behind it. As Fantasyland is now, the entry would (possibly) be between Gaston's Tavern and the (back of the) Little Mermaid show bldg.
jray21
That looks like a really fun event. I'm loving all these special events they are doing. For someone like me, that only gets to the parks every couple of years, it's a great way to get more rides and activities in!

They did it ONCE and it was insane. I played piano in one of the attractions (The Brown Derby) and the lines to get in and out of just our little restaurant stretched over an hour. The meet and greets were even worse with lines to meet Maleificent and Starlord and Gamora lasting 2-3 hours. There were MANY unhappy guests since everyone wanted to do everything, and I feel they sold way too many tickets.
robbalvey
Here's a new video showing off the current construction of Tron Lightcycle Power Run. Nrthwnd
All the Disney parks/resorts I know of, seem to go through "phases" in building new stuff, etc. And this really looks like Orlando is getting a lot of new stuff in the coming years. Good for them. It's deserved. The 2020's are going to be a good time, going to a lot of global Disney Parks, actually.
TurnOfTheCentury
I loved this ride at Shanghai Disney. It will be a great addition. Initially I thought it was odd to place it right next to Space Mountain, but it will look cool and fit in. NOWW.... bring the Pirates technology to Disneyworld (Like an Indiana Jones themed boat ride at Animal Kingdom or something!)
jedimaster1227
On Thursday night TPR was invited to check out Villains After Hours at the Magic Kingdom! This recently-launched event runs from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM (with event admission granting you access to the park starting at 7:00 PM) with special entertainment, food and merchandise! Like with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, the event’s capacity is substantially lower than the normal park capacity, enabling majorly reduced wait times across the board, including for rides like Peter Pan’s Flight which typically has a 75-90 minute wait during the normal operating day. Villains After Hours manages to pack in a lot of event-exclusive content once the 10:00 PM mark rolls around. Villains Unite The Night is a 25 minute show in front of Cinderella Castle with no shortage of projection effects, fireworks and pure fire! Maleficent the Dragon also roams the parade route at intervals throughout the night. This float from the daytime Festival of Fantasy parade really stuns at night, lighting up the dimly lit Hub and Main Street USA buildings with its constant jets of fiery breath. Besides the entertainment at the event, Disney has managed to plus two of their signature attractions, Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean in unique ways. Space Mountain operates in total darkness with a sinister new soundtrack—seriously, the experience of having no sight in the ride (not even the launch tunnel) is amazing! And for Pirates of the Caribbean, some new pirates have invaded the attraction, roaming the queues and interacting with guests while they wait to board their ships... Keep an eye out for a familiar face to show up in the ride, making an appearance only during Villains After Hours! Something that will surely appeal to guests of this event is the inclusion of unlimited popcorn, ice cream (Mickey Bars!!!), sodas and bottled water, available to be picked up at kiosks throughout the park! Honestly, this is a pretty clever way of coming up with a unique set of unlimited offerings to compare to Halloween’s unlimited candy or Christmas’ unlimited hot chocolate and cookies... I could argue that this is the best value of the three! For those looking to indulge in a few more unique culinary options, there are purchasable offerings throughout the park that are exclusively available to event guests. While mostly sweet (brownies, tarts, etc), there are a few savory choices like the Evil Emperor Zurg’s Noodles and the buffalo chicken nachos on black bean chips. There are also several unique beverages including a bubbling strawberry soda, a chocolate-rimmed Fanta Orange/Coca-Cola hybrid and a frozen mocktail that can satisfy your thirst for a drink beyond the standard bottled fare offered at the unlimited kiosks. With minimal wait times, unlimited treats like Mickey Bars, some awesome entertainment and a few unique enhancements to classic attractions, Villains After Hours is definitely worth your time! If anything, this event manages to make the wait for the Halloween Party and Christmas Party seasons much easier to handle, as this similar offering takes pages from those established books and yet, still stands on its own as a unique and exciting new event! And the back... Here’s a look at the Villains After Hours event guide! We tried the Headless Horseman Browkie early in the evening and it was delicious! We’re back at the Magic Kingdom for Villains After Hours! The main event starts at 10:00 PM but access to the park with an event ticket starts at 7:00 PM! Some guests have gotten into the Villains After Hours spirit with some excellent costumes! Don't you wish you were riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover right now? Enjoying a ride on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin! Space Mountain offers a “villainous adventure” during Villains After Hours where the coaster flies through total darkness with a sinister soundtrack! I wasn't going to ignore this chance to indulge! Unlimited popcorn, ice cream, soda and bottled water are available throughout the park at no additional cost during Villains After Hours! Event-exclusive food and drinks are available throughout the park. Villains Unite The Night brings the villains together to fulfill a prophecy of evil, transforming Cinderella Castle in the process! Time for some fireworks! A few new pirates have arrived at Pirates of the Caribbean for a Villains After Hours adventure! Villains Unite The Night really is a combination of a stage spectacular and a fireworks show with as much pyro and fire as is used here. Sampling the Villains After Hours-exclusive Hades Temptation Mocktail over at Tortuga Tavern! Pirates prowl these corridors... Really fun to watch! Watching the show from farther back gives you a greater appreciation for the amazing transformations through which the castle undergoes. I really love this look! Helping Buzz Lightyear defeat the evil Emperor Zurg on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin! This really adds a fun element to the queuing experience! Such a cool effect! It is never too late in the evening for a ride on Splash Mountain! FIRE! The mix of projection effects, fireworks and pyro makes this show a true spectacle! Fireworks all around the characters onstage! With each villain's arrival, Cinderella Castle transforms. Maleficent the Dragon roams the park at set times throughout the evening, lighting up the night with her fiery breath! And with each villain, minions arrive to show off their skills. Making her final loop of the night... The Hub transforms into a giant dance party before the Villains Unite The Night show kicks off! Feel the heat! I'll never get tired of seeing this up close! And here's the money shot! We had a fantastic evening at Villains After Hours! Short waits for the rides, unique entertainment and a great experience overall! Be sure to check this event out for yourself! Time for some unique Villains After Hours fun in the Hub! The Doctor Facilier segment is a real highlight! Other Disney Villains (Bowler Hat Guy!!!) assemble at the Main Street Train Station to send off guests as Villains After Hours comes to a close... Nighttime rides on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are the best! This show gets really hot at times! It really feels unlike any other show you'll find at Walt Disney World. There's something ridiculously cool about seeing the dragon roam down Main Street USA at the wee hours of the night. Whens villains unite, there's some wicked fun to be had! Did I mention there was fire in this show? There’s plenty of event-exclusive merchandise to be found in the park! Wait times throughout the event are exceptionally low when compared to what you’d find during the normal park operation. robbalvey
I just bought my Mickey's Not-So-Scary "Party Pass!" It is $299 and it is good EVERY NIGHT (except Halloween Night) of the event! If they also do this for the Christmas event I might spring on it! I liked the Halloween event better than Christmas. More immersive IMO especially at the front gate with the photo ops. Christmas just seemed kind of bland. Your mileage may vary of course.

Satans Hockey
Have to say for my first experience doing a special event at Disney I thought Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween was really over crowded. The event was sold out but it just really seemed like wall to wall people in the walkways. I'm guessing because of some rides not being open as well. It just really seemed like they over sold the event. I don't know if the season pass for the Halloween parties made the parks crowded or what but it really felt like more of a normal really busy park day. Ride wise I never saw dwarfs drop under 40 mins and space mountain was 30-40 mins all night. Haunted mansion was always around 30-40 and pirates was 15-35. The special costumes, parades and shows were all really well done but I can't say I thought it was a good value for $140 to spend 8 hours in the park nor would I recommend it to anyone. Would be nice if the park stayed open until 2am considering the cost and that the party doesn't really start till 7pm. Or at least start the event at 6pm and end it at 1am. I would have rather spent a full day in the park normally and worked my way through the day using fast pass and not waiting on lines. It's a shame because I've always heard amazing things about these parties from here and other places and the photos always looked great but I can't say I would do another one any time soon if I had to pay. The park itself does look amazing though and the meet and greets with the characters were absolutely fantastic, the staff that worked with them were wonderful as well. Can't say enough good things about the staff. I do have to say that after visiting the Disney Tokyo parks that it affects the way I see the parks here as well. It's amazing how everyone there sits down to watch the parades and how generally nice and courteous everyone is. You wouldn't see people leaving trash and all their candy wrappers on the ground in Tokyo like they did here.
