[RCT3] Snyder Lake

Recommended Posts

In 1978, a man named Samuel Snyder visited Six Flags Over Texas. Impressed by the park, he decided to build his own theme park in his home town of Jackson, Mississippi. Little did he know that his little theme park would blossom into a thrill paradise for all ages.

CHAPTER 1: SNYDER LAKE

This was what the entrance to the park looked like back in 1980. If you entered the park today, you'd notice that the skyline has drastically changed.

The first ride you'd see was the Carousel, a nice ride for kids and adults alike. There were also some food and drink stalls.

After that, you'd walk on a bridge to the second part of the park. This bridge didn't have much, but it did have benches to sit down on and many photo ops.

Now THAT'S what I call love at first sight!

Once you got off the bridge, you'd enter into the topiary garden, which was accompanied by a pegasus statue and a large ferris wheel called Patriot Wheel!

At this point, you could either take a left or a right. Taking a right would put you in the midway, which had a Tilt-A-Whirl named Space Spin and a Bumper Cars ride.

However, at the end of the midway was a dark ride called Ghost House. This ride had excellent theming, and gave riders goosebumps all over their skin!

If you went to the left, though, you would be treated with a different ride...

20190217093830_1.jpg.484fa2ba0a59394156d5d6ccdc50e40a.jpg

The Gold Rush Mine Train, an Arrow Dynamics mine train coaster.

20190217093830_1.jpg.484fa2ba0a59394156d5d6ccdc50e40a.jpg

It didn't go very fast, and it also wasn't very thrilling.

However, it did give some amazing views, including a helix near some trees!

As you can see here, the ride was popular with guests!

So, that's all for 1980. Stay tuned for more years!

Author's Note: This is my 4th attempt at a storyline park. Hopefully it doesn't fail...

Lots of guests came just to ride Ghost House and Gold Rush Mine Train, which left him with lots of money, enough to add a new flat ride to the Midway in 1981.

20190224152632_1.jpg.0068bfba3f0c3db751c1cd4772b0bf94.jpgThis is Wave Swinger, a swing ride where you take a seat and then swing around in the air! Lots of guests praised the ride, and it was a star attraction at the park!20190224153120_1.jpg.ce2dba32ee364b300e1ea6403d6bf8bb.jpgThis may look like added scenery for Ghost House, but it is in fact a new drink stand called Dracula's Drinks!

20190224153107_1.jpg.d2d1bf7a1a1880a40d8b3d504cb9199c.jpgYou can get lots of drinks here, including Blood Punch! The service was also notable for being nice and kind.

20190224153209_1.jpg.cee6914f7e669affaf2efa60fbe7a85f.jpgAs always, guests are enjoying the Gold Rush Mine Train, whether for it's thrills or for it's scenic views.

So, that's 1981! See you all next time!

1982

20190316155129_1.jpg.25e6685fd0bd5b48e7dd3b096a10e62a.jpg1981 was yet another successful season for Snyder Lake, with Wave Swinger thrilling many guests! However, guests began to have complaints about the park.

20190316155236_1.jpg.8f8d7555d7bcc0e2e1bf4d25c20785af.jpgThey began to complain that there weren't much rides for kids not ready to ride the thrill rides, and that most of the rides were in the Midway.

20190316160224_1.jpg.0d70756bb3fdee32671564751f33b3a9.jpgSo, to remedy this, in 1982, a new Western-themed area adjacent to Gold Rush Mine Train was opened, including some food and drink stalls and...

20190316160632_1.jpg.f89f1ddca1fb94f0c6c62409f081c6ca.jpgAs seen here, the West Wheel gave off views of it's older brother, Patriot Wheel, and the Gold Rush Mine Train.

20190316161023_1.jpg.39414fc9202ef906adc17698d1b743e4.jpgYou could also see the West Wheel from the GRMT's helix.

20190316161109_1.jpg.533c2241d0b48a14bd0c8e2863b4597d.jpgHowever, the Midway still remained popular, with Dodgems, Space Spin, Wave Swinger, and Ghost House still attracting guests!

20190316161138_1.jpg.2cd335ef3196358db140b0677ebb29f4.jpgFinally, here's a shot of the two Ferris Wheels: Patriot Wheel and West Wheel!

1983

20190406131619_1.jpg.18fd2317f866187e3799a0dd2c544920.jpgOnce again, the fine folks at Snyder Lake struck gold with the new Wild West area! While it wasn't a smash hit, it still proved to be successful.

20190406133127_1.jpg.0932a11890c78948145f88bce830e607.jpgIn 1983, they added a new flat ride to the Midway, Triple Trouble, an Eli Bridge Scrambler.

20190406133201_1.jpg.d80023e6b2a6b230f5348c1009e28a7c.jpgNamed for the fact that it has 3 arms with 3 seats, Triple Trouble would spin you around and around.

20190406133242_1.jpg.bee659f47e78eee31971b36530e43461.jpgAs a result of the addition, the Midway now had 5 rides: Space Spin, Dodgems, Wave Swinger, Triple Trouble, and of course, Ghost House!

20190406133303_1.jpg.31f4905f106b78de76740a799cf41f1b.jpgHowever, many people noticed that the park was beginning to clear land behind Patriot Wheel. A column of trees located in front of the ride had been shortened, leading many people to speculate on what the land will be used for.

20190406133325_1.jpg.4721f48c8facc23d59e9144b9d480996.jpgMany people predicted a roller coaster, since the plot of land would be too big for a flat ride.

20190406133419_1.jpg.3baefea56ff62979b4243fd9597e25d4.jpgThe plot of land could even be seen from Gold Rush Mine Train. If this turned out to be a coaster, then Gold Rush Mine Train would no longer be alone.

20190406133516_1.jpg.211f594e22eff7a6bae216d5e4289afd.jpgPeople were anxious to find out about what would go into that plot of land. Luckily, they would get their answer next year.

Krakatoa is an amazing roller coaster themed to the legendary volcano of the same name. Built by Anton Schwarzkopf of Germany, this ride goes upside down not once, not twice, but THRICE! At 145 ft and 60 mph, Krakatoa will triumph Gold Rush Mine Train as Snyder Lake's star attraction! The ride will open on July 4th, 1984, so don't miss the eruption!
