I agree with you, but us coaster enthusiasts are pretty dam good at using the process of elimination. I'll lay out my thought process...

1. We need records to break for advertisement. Bullsh*t or not, it works and it's the Cedar Point style.

2. We need a completely different experience. Too many rides sitting upright with airtime and loops.

3. Now I'm at dark ride or flyer. I remember a Gatekeeper interview that mentioned how hideous a giant box against CP's backdrop was.

4. We can't get enough of B&M.

5. RIP Firehawk.

6. Flyer.

LOL

There are several possibilities:

For all the experts that know the ins and outs of Cedar Point.

I am thinking of taking a trip there this year and was wondering:

1. When does everyone think is a good time to visit during the year?

2. How many days should I visit?

3. Is the Fast Pass worth it?

-Between Memorial Day and Labor Day

-2 or 3 (especially given the weather policy if it’s a long trip for you)

-Yes

Either stay on property or get a Platinum Pass so you have Early Entry.

We did three days at the park during CoasterMANIA! weekend, but also threw in a "rest day",

(the Sunday) which allowed us to just chill out (Famous Dave's BBQ!) away from the park (hard I know, lol),

and enjoy everything else in the area. We also stayed at The Breakers. Pricey but so worth it!*

*Except for that exploding toilet on Sat.night. Poor Bert....

I've had good luck going for two days and budgeting for FastLane+ both days. If you do that, it really doesn't matter when you go, but as Coasterbill said, staffing levels are best between Memorial Day and Labour Day. With two full days and not worrying about lines, you'll easily be able to do everything you want.

Bill summed it up well but I'll add a few tidbits from a local perspective...

I never use FL (except the free one given when I renew my pass) and say yes, get it. Even if you can only afford it for 1 day during your trip at least get it that one day. There are usually some pretty good deals for admission + FL on their website if you're only planning a day or 2. Keep an eye out. 3 or more days and I would recommend a Platinum Pass.

If you don't want to or can't afford the extra cash for FL+ I'd recommend May weekdays before Memorial Day for the smallest crowds but be warned you're more likely to experience short staffing, closed food stands/gift shops/rides due to said short staffing and shorter hours of operation. It's a take and give. Same issues will be present after Labor Day. Halloweekends are fun but can be a nightmare with crowds and staffing.

If it's in your budget to stay at Breakers do it. Resort perks and ease of access to the park are worth it.

If time and money are no concern I would check out the events calendar on their website and see if anything appeals to you. Brew and BBQ is awesome and they are doing a new event in Frontier Town/Trail this year that was just announced in June. Summer nights has midnight closings select days and fireworks.

Also note this seasons new attraction Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island is not scheduled to open until Memorial Day I believe. While not a coaster it's new and should be fun to check out.

EDIT: Just checked the parks website and it looks like the Frontier Festival is taking the place of Brew & BBQ this year. Sorry about that.

Cedar Point has sent us a press release announcing details about their latest additions for the 2019 season!

In addition to Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island, an interactive and immersive storytelling experience, guests of Cedar Point will have more to explore this season. The park is introducing new ways to dine and a summertime street celebration in Frontier Town.

 

Hugo’s Italian Kitchen

 

A taste of Italy is coming to America’s Roller Coast®. Hugo’s Italian Kitchen will serve traditional Italian fare like hand-made pastas, fresh pizzas baked in a large open-flamed brick oven, chicken parmesan sandwiches, salads, meatball sandwiches and fresh desserts. Hugo’s Italian Kitchen will be located in the former Midway Market location, adjacent to the Raptor roller coaster.

 

BackBeatQue

 

Live music and savory smokehouse barbeque come together at BackBeatQue. This new rock ‘n’ roll and Motown-inspired eatery will serve smoked brisket, rotisserie chicken, pork platters and fresh perch. Southern sides like okra, cornbread muffins and house-made mac & cheese will also be available.

 

BackBeatQue’s outdoor dining space will give guests a great place to eat, relax and take in the sights and sounds of the BackBeat Quartet and Cedar Point’s Gemini Midway. BackBeatQue will be located between the Monster ride and Magnum XL-200 roller coaster.

 

Frontier Festival

 

Frontier Town, already home to the “Best New Ride of 2018,” Steel Vengeance, turns up the WILD factor this summer during the new Frontier Festival – an immersive Old West, sunflower-inspired street festival with local artisans, kids’ crafts and games, continuous live entertainment and wild food and drink to sample and savor.

 

A bounty of family activities will be available, including the Flower Patch – an opportunity for kids to choose their own flower and decorate their own flowerpot; the Junkyard Jamboree – where guests can make their own music on antique metal items; and the daily Balloon Stampede – where kids can stomp on balloons for prizes.

 

Guests can also enjoy live music from Cedar Point’s Bluegrass Jamboree and other local bands on the Gossip Gulch Stage. Plus, guests can tap their boots during line and square dancing lessons at the Hubbub Hoedown and meet the Frontier Townsfolk for special photo opportunities.

 

Frontier Festival also features specialty food items made right on the midway, like two-meat barbeque baked beans, bison chili, pulled pork sliders, fire roasted chicken drums, smoked wings, toasted sunflower vinegar slaw, smoked brisket, wild strawberry shortcake, peaches & cream and more. Guests can wash the wild food down with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage samples, including craft brews, ciders, wines and handcrafted lemonades.

 

Frontier Festival runs daily June 7 – 30 from 4 – 10 p.m. There is a nominal event fee for food & beverage tasting cards.

 

Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island

 

The park’s new signature attraction, an immersive, themed entertainment experience, will open Saturday, May 25. More information on Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island will be released in the coming weeks on Cedar Point’s blog at cedarpoint.com, including story detail, artist renderings of attractions and more.

I think the most likely addition for 2020 is more butthurt enthusiasts. #fanboinightmare

Make sure you get in touch with one of the higher-ups and let them know what they 'need' to do. You seem to have it figured out, with such an absolute word.

I went with 3 people last May to get on Steel Vengeance, we paid for 1 night in a 2 bedroom hotel room with queen beds and a view of the park. We got tickets for both days (the day we arrived, and the day after we stayed the night at the hotel), we got drink wristbands for both days, and early entries on both days if we showed up early enough the first day.

you're talking 3 people for 1 night (with a special package deal), vs 2 people for 4 nights.

so yeah, that's where Bill is getting "pricey" from.

is it worth it? absolutely, but yeah, it's not as inexpensive as staying off site.

(tho I would never go and stay off site. . . for me, Breakers is the place to stay when going to CP, since not a local - it's a rare destination visit for me)
