TPR in Japan - 2018 - Theme parks and Japanese Fun!

Looks amazing!! But the POV doesnt really show the speed of the launch. From the off ride you can see just how fast it is, but the on ride doesnt show that. Wish there was a version in the states still.

Am I correct that the ride originally had air-filled rubber ride tires, which kind of contributed to the roughness factor?

As much fun as it must be, it still looks like the ride is quite rough, does anyone know if they're still using the original tire/wheel set up?

This ride is awesome. Definitely on my bucket list. I don't mind the tophat to loop change.

Also, I believe this is the only steam powered launcher in the world right? Same system they use on aircraft carriers if I'm not mistaken...

It's not so much "rough" as it is "bouncy" and yes they are still using the same tire configuration.

Powder Keg also uses it.

Last of the two Thrust Air models, but S&S has made (and to my knowledge, continues to make) other air launched coasters that have less harsh accelerations.

^ Yup, S&S has actually made quite a few compressed air launched coasters, with 5 currently operating and another two under construction according to RCDB. There's actually a 6th operating compressed air launched coaster made by a Chinese company called Sameco. Here's the list on RCDB.

Day Twenty Six - Tokyo Disney Resort - Back to Tokyo DisneySEA!

With two days of our "official" time at Tokyo Disney Resort behind us, and two days left, that means we can now start to park hop! One of the ways that Tokyo Disney helps control overcrowding in the parks is by not allowing people to park hop if you've only bought a one or two day ticket. When you buy a four day ticket, you still have to choose ONE park to visit for your first two days, but then days three and four you can park hop!

And although we could park hop today, we kind of took it easy around DisneySEA. It was nice to have a more relaxing day in the parks!

Not only are the Tanabata consumes my favorite that Tokyo Disney dresses the characters in but the Tanabata Greeting Show also uses a version of “Wishes” that is even more beautiful and awesome than in the old Magic Kingdom fireworks show!

It was July 1st on this day we were at the park and that means popcorn changes at Tokyo Disney! At DisneySEA, Strawberry has replaced Blueberry...

No other Disney park (or any other park for that matter outside of Japan) does this. Another example of the detailed level of service you get in Japan parks.

DisneySea is one of those parks that everyone talks up so much that actually lives up to it. I went in with such high expectations and was still blown away by that park! There are just so many tiny, random details that don't need to be there, but they are and it's amazing. I went back a little earlier that night to get some shopping done, and then just walked around for several hours, not riding anything, just admiring how beautiful the park is. I saw a group taking pictures of the Duffy and friends that had multiple phone flashlights on to get the lighting right. It was very interesting to watch, and my Gelatoni got roped into it too!

A huge thank you to Robb and Elissa for showing me around my first trip to TDR (well also Japan, but we all know the real reason to go on a trip to Japan ) I had such an amazing time, even if I didn't get to hang out with the lava monster, it just gives me even more of a reason to go back!

the food all looks really good.. even that kind of scary "rice-Donald". . . LOL. bet it was tasty!

my thoughts on the Baymax bag? GAH!!! what happens to his head??

(tho if it were a bit bigger, and done as a back-pack (with his arms as the strap), I'd buy one in a second).

really does seem y'all had a fantastic time, and it absolutely comes thru in the pictures and trip report.

It's nice to see you don't have to do the mad dash to Toy Story at opening anymore to get a fast pass. I never got a chance to ride it because those fast-passes were gone after I'd got my morning Journey ride in.

^ Ugh. Those pictures disappoint me. The fact that they have to say things like "Don't put your plate back on the belt" and have labels for so much stuff just bums me out. Why can't everything just be as simple and efficient as it is in Japan?

well, at least they opened up a location here, even if they had to Dumb it Down for the USA

Here is worse than most of "America". . . after all, this is "TEXAS"

Austin is more intelligent, but still, it's like being the second worst Venereal Disease. . .we still suck, just not as much as some of the other cities in Texas

I agree. And I hope they continue to expand. It's the same with Gyu-Kaku in the USA versus Japan. It's great that we have it here in the US, but I kind of wish we could be trusted more to have things like the iPads to order from and not have to be constantly reminded "don't touch the gold ring...IT'S HOT!!!"

I probably still have some internal bruises from this coaster at Lina World...

Wow that looks brutal!!

Great video though! I really like backseat POVs with mounted camera, it really shows how the train is moving through the elements. And for this particular ride it works REALLY well!

Thanks! I'm also a fan of the mounted backseat POV. I don't get as many chances to do it, though, so I'm glad this one worked out.

I dread that day, because then, how would we get such awesome commentary to accompany these POVs?

Someday I'll get to Japan. Someday...
