Coasterstock 2015 at Kings Island!

Postby thrillrider » Mon May 18, 2015 3:52 pm

We were lucky enough to attend the inaugural coasterstock at kings island this past weekend. I give huge props to the entire Kings island staff for putting on a great event. I believe that there were 500 people in attendance, and plenty of ert, food, goodies, and fun with friends.

Let's check out some pictures from the event shall we......

coasterstock 2015 119.JPG
Time for some q&a . Interesting story behind the transfer of coney island over to kings island.
coasterstock 2015 128.JPG
As most of you knew, coney island in cinncinnati closed and a lot of the rides were moved over to kings island. He was explaining that it only took them 30 days to dissasemble all the rides at ci to move them to kings island.
coasterstock 2015 124.JPG
coasterstock 2015 142.JPG
Back out in the park, there were a lot of suckers willing to pay $5 to dry off after the water ride.

Lunch time at the refreshed picnic area
coasterstock 2015 154.JPG
The food was great! Ribs, chicken, mashed potatoes and much more.
coasterstock 2015 152.JPG
I was able to score some great cupcakes as well. On sunday, they gave us blue ice cream as dessert!
coasterstock 2015 150.JPG
Lots of improvements in the picnic shelter area.
coasterstock 2015 151.JPG
They also have these new big ass fans to keep you cool.
coasterstock 2015 160.JPG

I really don't understand why parks don't switch to black OSTR's and seats for all rides... the colored ones look awful after several years (i.e. your Drop Tower and Diamondback shots). It also appears that Diamondback's yellow lift supports could use some paint next season.

However with all that said, thanks for sharing the photos. Looks like KI knows how to hold a good event - unfortunately I haven't made it to one yet.

You beat me to it. I was going to mirror the same thoughts about the stained seats. My only guess as to why they use different colors, is that the train will match the color scheme of the ride.

^ Thus the need to take like a 20 minute shower when you get back to your hotel when you consider all of the hands and sweaty bodies on those restraints all day! ;)

80's store front. I love all the retro 80's crap. The sad part is, I used to have most of the stuff in the window.

Time to leave the park.
coasterstock 2015 206.JPG
I normaly don't post hotel pictures, but I am going to make an exception in this case. We stayed at the super 8 hotel near the park, and it was one of the worst rooms we have ever stayed in. I would not recommend staying here. There were bed bugs and all kinds of nasty things.

Speaking of hotels, this is what's going on at the old kings island inn and resort. It looks like they are saving the main building as it still had lights on inside.
