I hope this is the right place to put this. I just saw this article and thought it was interesting. Could this mean new attractions in the future based on the adventures of Indy? What franchise does Disney not own now?

Disney Gets Control of 'Indiana Jones' Movie Rights from Paramount

by Alex Billington

Disney has snapped up rights to another beloved franchise. Variety/Deadline are reporting The Walt Disney Studios and Paramount Pictures have finalized an agreement over rights to the Indiana Jones franchise. Paramount has held onto the rights to Indiana Jones ever since they financed Raiders of the Lost Ark with Steven Spielberg in 1981, securing a five-picture deal in the process. Recently, Disney has been working hard to acquire all our favorite childhood franchises. In this deal they got the "distribution and marketing rights to future films, in addition to retaining its current ownership rights" when they acquired Lucasfilm.

This is big news because it means that Disney, now working directly with Lucasfilm and Spielberg (under his banner DreamWorks), can continue to develop "future Indiana Jones movies" (more?!) without any more legal roadblocks or financial hurdles. Disney has not officially announced another Indiana Jones movie, and there have only been rumors and rumblings of an Indy V, but it seems like this may be yet another strategic move by Disney to gather all the franchises under one roof. This does also mean that the next Indiana Jones will have the Mouse House behind it. For better or worse? Time will tell. The new era of Disney is upon us.

Looks like another Indy movie(s) coming to the big screen. Hope it will be better than Crystal Skull. I would love to see the younger Indiana Jones series brought back to tv. I used to like that series.

The vision for B Resort's cutting-edge design and future programs calls for visitors to feel open to express how they aspire to be during their visit to the Orlando area. A balance between casual sophistication, lifestyle elements and innovative offerings has been struck through the artfully employed design details provided by a collaboration of VOA Associates Incorporated and InSite's in-house design team.

B Ambiance

Entering the newly redesigned resort, guests' senses are immediately activated with a specially developed scent of white tea and thyme. A cascading waterfall takes center stage in the majestic lobby, creating a relaxing environment. Spacious public areas are conducive to business and socialization with soothing and sleek interior decor, intimate and flexible seating arrangements, FreeB Wi-Fi (complimentary high-speed internet access), courtesy guest iPads and other available entertainment options.

B Rested in Style

With its debut, the B Resort will unveil 394 completely renovated guestrooms within the 17-story tower and connecting Lanai building. There will be two Master Poolside Suites, five Master Suites, 17 one-Bedroom Suites, and 20 family-friendly rooms with bunk beds. All guestroom interiors fuse stylish and timeless designs and include a mini fridge, in-room safe, B Treated snack box, the latest high-tech offerings such as FreeB Wi-Fi, HD LED interactive flat-screen TVs, and electrical power hubs with USB, HDMI and international outlet plug ins. As part of B Hotels & Resorts'® B Humane program, all guestrooms come furnished with a plush green frog, that represents the native Florida Gopher Frog, a protected species. The frogs are available for "adoption" to take home at check out, with a portion of the sale's proceeds donated to a Florida environmental foundation.

B Nourished

In an evolving relationship with Jeffrey Chodorow of China Grill Management, B Resort's farmhouse chic signature restaurant offers an innovative culinary experience that redefines classic American barbeque. A cross-country selection of BBQ favorites, smoked meats, fish and poultry will be offered both from an a-la-carte menu and an original buffet presentation. Through a large window in the restaurant, diners can peek in on the action and watch as the culinary team smokes mouthwatering meats and rotisserie chicken.

Other food and beverage outlets at the resort include a poolside bar and grill and a grab 'n go cafe with an ice cream parlor.

B Indulged®, B Active® or Just B...

The first full-service B Indulged® spa will make its debut at the B Resort in Lake Buena Vista and add to the overall resort-style environment. A perfect respite after fun-filled days at the parks or rigorous meetings, the spa includes four treatment rooms, including one for couple therapies. The serene design palette features upholstery and accent pieces shimmering with an opalescent patina, while a separate hair salon, nail boutique, relaxation lounge, men's and women's locker rooms, and B Active® Fitness Center complete the experience.

Other amenities at the resort include four tennis courts, a zero-entry, mineral-water pool with multiple interactive water elements, private cabanas, outdoor fire pits for s'mores and more, kids programs, an interactive area in the lobby with games and Monscierge® screens (the interactive resort/destination guide providing guests with touch screen technology and access to maps, photos, restaurant menus and more), FreeB Wi-Fi throughout the property, valet and self-parking on site and complimentary shuttles to the Walt Disney World® Resort theme parks.

Meetings and Social Events

Over 25,000 square feet of flexible function space, including two ballrooms, divisible into nine breakout rooms, and a poolside terrace and courtyard, make the B Resort an ideal venue for meetings, events and weddings when it opens in 2014. Catering menus will be designed by China Grill Management, and a separate banquet kitchen allows for the hosting of kosher and other culturally authentic functions. The Grand Ballroom accommodates up to 1,000 guests in theatre style and up to 750 for banquets. Dark espresso wood finishes and textured wall coverings are offset with sparkling crystal drop chandeliers, and provide an overall neutral backdrop to complement any specially designed event decor.

Since WDW doesn't really have a modern/"boutique" hotel, this should be a great refresh for their hotel inventory. I'd actually love to see Disney tackle a "boutique" hotel project.

Aquarium @ T-REX cafe cracks.

Guests enjoying dinner at the T-REX Cafe in Walt Disney World in Florida got a wet surprise Monday evening when a massive fish tank sprung a leak and began spewing water. One of the diners captured the cellphone video above.

As WFTV (Channel 9) reports, “The large, cylinder-shaped aquarium appeared to have cracked open down the side, causing water to gush out into the restaurant. In the video, restaurant employees can be seen moving guests away from the area.”

No word yet on what caused the incident, or the fate of the fish inside.

http://www.scottjosephorlando.com/index.php/news/2486-big-name-restaurants-may-be-headed-to-disney-springs

Disney Springs, the comprehensive redo of Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney, will have some major restaurant names when it opens in 2016 if the current plans come to fruition. Among the restaurants that are in talks to be part of the ambitious project are Morimoto, the Japanese and sushi restaurant of chef Masaharu Morimoto and the Starr restaurant group with locations in Philadelphia and New York; STK, a modern steakhouse with locations in New York, Miami and Las Vegas; The Edison, a Los Angeles restaurant that celebrates the era of invention; and the Boathouse, a new concept from the same people who brought you Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex Cafe. Of these new restaurants, only STK is close to having dry ink on the agreement.

In addition, Planet Hollywood, the movie-themed restaurant with headquarters in Orlando, will undergo major renovations that will convert the massive globe-shaped structure it now occupies into one that resembles a planetary observatory (looking for a different type of stars, perhaps?). The Boathouse will be built in a space on the lagoon next to Fulton's Crab House, the faux paddle-wheeler, and Portobello, the Italian eatery. Both of those restaurants, owned by Levy Restaurants out of Chicago, are expected to remain as is. Paradiso 37 is also expected to remain.

The significance of Morimoto, STK and the Edison is that they are upscale and critically acclaimed restaurants. The addition of them to Central Florida is akin to the restaurants that turned Las Vegas into a culinary destination. The Edison, by the way, looks to be a perfect fit for WDW, based on the restaurant's website.

All of this, of course, is subject to change. Lease agreement and partnership arrangements with Walt Disney World are possible obstacles.

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2014/05/spotlight-on-cherry-tree-lane-coming-to-marketplace-co-op-at-downtown-disney-in-2014/

One thing my fiancée has taught me is that having the right accessories can make a good outfit even better (that probably explains why I keep buying her tiki-themed handbags). Soon, she and other guests will find many awesome accessories and more at Cherry Tree Lane, a new boutique coming to the Marketplace Co-Op at Downtown Disney Marketplace. The name of this high-end, fashion boutique was inspired by the street name where the Banks family resides in Disney’s “Mary Poppins.” As it turns out, there will be several nods to this classic live-action film in the location.

“I referenced images of the Banks’ children’s room in the film for the fixture designs,” explained Dana Harchar from the Global Retail Development team. “The handcrafted fixtures will be painted Victorian white along with accent colors of light blue and red. I designed wallpaper for some fixtures that incorporates iconic umbrellas, hats and kites in the design. Guests will also find nesting tables, a unique jewelry fixture, and some wooden closets that will line the exposed brick walls.”

The merchandise assortment will include many colorful accessories including ballet flats, handbags, avant-garde jewelry, timepieces and dramatic scarves. My favorite items have a blue “Cherry Tree Lane” pattern created by Disney Design Group artists. I love they included an umbrella, and the rolling duffle bag is a must!

Cherry Tree Lane will also be home to handbags and accessories by Dooney & Bourke, which is celebrating five years at Disney Parks this year. You may recall getting a first look at the new street scene pattern this past January on the Disney Park Blog. The Disney Parks online store will carry a color variation (red and black) of this pattern shown above at a future date. The color sketch bags will only be released at this location at Walt Disney World Resort; they will be at Disneyland Resort and online at a future date.

Finally, this boutique will carry items from the Disney Collection by Vera Bradley. I’m excited to share a first look at a brand new color, “Bouncing Bouquet,” that will debut once the location officially opens (stay tuned for an exact date). Guests will also find previously released colors such as “Midnight With Mickey” or “Where’s Mickey?” at this boutique. This location will be the only shop at Walt Disney World Resort to carry the “Mickey’s Perfect Petals” color recently released at the Epcot event on May 4.

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2014/05/plans-for-a-re-imagined-disneys-polynesian-resort-include-a-nostalgic-name-change/

Earlier today, Walt Disney World Resort President George A. Kalogridis announced some news about one of our most iconic resort hotels – Disney’s Polynesian Resort. As part of a complete re-imagining, Disney’s Polynesian Resort is returning to its original, 1971 opening day name: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The sweeping renovation, happening now, also includes a new food and beverage experience opening for guests next year, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto — based on the popular themed lounge at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, Calif. There’s going to be lots more updates on this beachside family favorite, so stay tuned.
