Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (BGT Discussion Thread)

p. 375: Phoenix Rising family inverted coaster announced for 2024!

Recommended Posts

It took them long enough to announce it. I remember hearing drop tower rumors in Feb. 2012 that it would be for this year.

I hate posts like this. Oh, gee, sorry it took them "long enough"...

Here's a thought... maybe it took so long because some of those original plans and rumors make it look like they were going to build another "Mach Tower", and when all the issues with that ride happened, they actually went back to the drawing board, looked at some of the other drop tower options, and came back with what looks like it could be the best drop tower in the world.

Personally, I'd rather wait LONGER for them to put in something that is going to KICK ALL SORTS OF A$$, than to have seen the park rush into making another mistake.

Who's with me on that?

100% with you. So thankful this happened the way it did, since the park will now have one of the best non-coaster rides on the planet, and this ride will get them a billion times more attention and press than another Mach Tower would have. I can't wait to ride this thing!

Speaking as a resident of Williamsburg, I agree with Robb and Dave. While BGW has finally worked out Mach Tower's bugs, increased the actual freefall a bit, and made the ride more reliable, it won't hold a candle to Falcon's Fury at BGT from what I've read so far.

Busch Garden Tampa Bay has sent us a press release regarding the return of the popular Summer Nights offering at the park for 2013!

Busch Gardens’ Summer Nights amps up the excitement year-after-year, and 2013 promises to offer even more after-dark entertainment and fun for the whole family with a new rock-n-roll musical production at the Desert Grill and the return of guests’ favorites, including an energizing acrobatics show featuring Kinetix, and an amazing fireworks finale every night of the event.

Starting this Saturday, June 8 through Aug. 18, guests will experience extended park hours, special entertainment, high-energy DJs, and the thrill of riding world-class coasters in the dark, including Busch Gardens’ triple-launch coaster Cheetah Hunt®.

The award-winning Kinetix show returns to Summer Nights with nightly performances of its rock-fueled blast of music and acrobatics. The show’s energizing performances include live musicians, singers, dancers and artists from around the world. Their thrilling performance, along with modern music and pyrotechnic effects, will pump up the crowd every night in Gwazi Park at 9 p.m.

Gates open at 8 p.m., so arrive early to ensure a good spot and enjoy the Party Starters’ pre-show interactive games and dancing.

NEW! Born to Rock

Feel the beat and get ready to let loose with Busch Gardens Tampa’s Born to Rock! Follow along with Arvin as he unexpectedly finds himself in the middle of a rock-n-roll musical production, filled with mash-ups of contemporary music and high-energy choreography. A live guitarist, belly dancers and a top-notch circus round out this excitingly wonderful whirlwind of color and music.

Fireworks Light Up the Sky Every Night

Celebrate the perfect end to the evening with an amazing fireworks finale. Busch Gardens lights up the sky every night of the event with an incredible aerial display set to popular music. The best views are in Gwazi Park, right after the nightly Kinetix show, but the fireworks are visible from all over the park.

On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the Party Starters will host dance challenges all day throughout the park and pick the most outgoing guests to compete in the Dance-Off competition that evening. The Dance-Off will be a three-round competition starting at 7 p.m. in the Desert Grill. The audience picks the winner with “the best moves” by applause, and first prize is four tickets to come back to Busch Gardens Tampa.

Don’t forget that Busch Gardens is the place to be this summer – both day AND night – with brand-new attractions that offer exciting entertainment for everyone. See Busch Gardens’ biggest ice show ever, Iceploration, bringing to life an all-new adventure filled with world-class skaters, original costumes, amazing aerial performances, master puppetry and live animal stars. The park’s Animal Care Center welcomes guests to closely observe and even take part in the animal care experience in this new state-of-the-art facility. And the park’s mega-attraction and Florida’s first triple-launch coaster, Cheetah Hunt®, launches riders from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds. If going from zero to cheetah is not your speed, guests can watch as Busch Gardens’ cheetahs sprint several times a day in Cheetah Run.

Park hours for Summer Nights are extended until 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Summer Nights is included with daily admission or any annual pass.

Actually, due to budget cuts, we are closing every night at 9pm. Also, I've heard that some shows may not be performing during the weekdays and some rides may go down for "annual maintenance" at the end of the summer. Kinda sucks to hear from both an employee and consumer point of view.

A new house at Howl-O-Scream!

"Death Water Bayou"

http://seaworldparks.com/en/howloscream-tampa/13/06-The-Voodoo-Queen

Desiree Yanes came home one night and found her husband with another woman. Enraged, she ran off and disappeared inside the dark swamplands of Louisiana. There, she crafted voodoo dolls and swore then to torment them…with unspeakably sadistic tortures. The Voodoo Queen continues to hide in the swamps of the bayou and perform her twisted Voodoo rituals for others seeking revenge.

Brave souls can test their fate at the new house, Death Water Bayou, where the #6 Voodoo Queen mystically transforms lost wanderers into her minions of evil with black magic. Here, her night servants roam with a zombie-like hunger and seek to grow her collection. The darkest evils lurk in shadows. Get out before you fall victim to her spell.

Is there a very slight chance this will be open in Mid-March? While i highly doubt it will, I'd really love to give it a go and it would be such a tease to see it not ready yet.

I doubt it. Usually new rides at Busch open Memorial Day weekend. Yet again, I am pretty sure HOS will be the better of the two Halloween events this year.
