p. 148 - Magic Kingdom Destination D23 news roundup!

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/all-in-the-details-imagineers-add-character-to-belles-village-in-new-fantasyland-at-magic-kingdom-park/

This week, our “All in the Details” post is taking on a video twist thanks to our friends at Walt Disney Imagineering, who recently installed the centerpiece of Belle’s Village – an elaborate bronze statue of Gaston and his sidekick, Lefou.

As Imagineers Ted Robledo and Chris Kelly explain here, the statue’s design of Gaston and Lefou juggling leaky barrels and mugs was inspired by both Gaston’s boisterous temperament and the fountain Belle visits early in the film as she is reading. Ted and Chris also walk us through the detailed process it takes to create such an elaborate bronze statue – from building a clay maquette to choosing specific shades of bronze for the piece.

For reference, the fountain sits in the center of Belle’s Village in New Fantasyland. The building that appears behind the fountain is Gaston’s Tavern, while the structure directly across is Bonjour! Village Gifts.

And as we shared last week, each of these experiences will grand open December 6 (with general previews beginning November 19).

I was at MK yesterday, and grabbed some Fantasyland photos. I forgot to bring a real camera, though, so we're stuck with iPhone4 blurryphotos....

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/new-signature-images-released-of-new-fantasyland-at-magic-kingdom-park/

We sure have a treat today for those of you who just can’t get enough of New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. New signature images have just been released that I think sure put the “fantasy” into New Fantasyland.

nfp993999LARGE.jpg.6d6d11bf8fc30b27eb93a47c7992086a.jpg

This first signature image shows a view of New Fantasyland in detail from the very top turret of Cinderella’s Castle. The landscape stretches from Maurice’s Cottage on the left, all the way to the colorful Storybook Circus on the right.

nfp110129LARGE.jpg.df4174d16bd0d91f08dd751933c50f69.jpg

Another photo depicts Belle enjoying a book right outside Maurice’s Cottage, with Beast’s Castle high up on the mountains in the background. Anyone catch the Hidden Mickey in this pic?

npf220100LARGE.jpg.98995a1b3c0f59bd8e02943b97bd33e1.jpg

Here, Ariel gazes at Prince Eric’s Castle while the tide rushes in. Can’t you just hear her singing “Part of Your World?”

Which pic do you like best?

Just a reminder – these two areas of New Fantasyland will open in a preview phase for all Magic Kingdom Park guests November 19, with a grand opening December 6.

Even though it looks really good I'm still having a hard time getting excited about this project. I hope the 7 Dwarfs coaster is s really unique one of a kind attraction attraction but is it's not I won't be surprised. The whole thing just seems kinda meh.

I for one am actually really excited about this project. When it comes to Disney Parks, and while there are many rides I love there, it's the atmosphere and detail that bring me back year after year. This new expansion is looking amazing, and I can't wait to see it finished and in person. Now I can only hope that when this expansion is over it means we might finally see a much needed renovation/expansion of Tomorrowland. In my opinion, it's the area of the park that needs it most.

I love the idea of this coaster.

It's using a new style of train/cars,

an original layout with theming,

and more than likely a few A/As

here and there, lol.

And I am SO hoping The Witch will

make an appearance in there .

And it's another Disney-designed

mountain! Well, more like a hill,

heh heh, but still....

^^I completely agree. It's not always the rides that bring me back there but the atmosphere of the park. Sure, the park having great one of a kind attractions is a great plus, but just all the detail put into these areas adds more to it. And no doubt will this New Fantasyland have a lot of amazing details as well. I'm right up there with you hoping Tomorrowland gets the much needed renovation as well. With that, hopefully Disney can put their attention to the other parks once again. (Avatarland, which I'm not that excited about.)

^ Totally agree on that.

And if they're going to refurbish the Swan Boats Dock...

why not bring back the Swan Boats??? That would be so

cool and retro, esp.for Anniversay 50 in...2021?

Just-a-thought.

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/all-in-the-details-step-inside-the-world-of-belle-through-her-magic-mirror-at-magic-kingdom-park/

We’ve hinted before on the Disney Parks Blog that Enchanted Tales with Belle, in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park, will be no ordinary character greeting. Today, we’re excited to share more details about this special experience. As you’ll see from the video below – provided by Walt Disney Imagineering – the goal of this attraction is not just to give you a place to meet a Disney character, but to completely transport you into the world of “Beauty and The Beast.”

The journey begins at Maurice’s Cottage, where they’ll walk through the whimsical garden and find inventions created by Belle’s tinkerer father, Maurice. Inside are books, pictures and other symbols that define the home of Belle and Maurice and their lives there, including leftover gadgets and artifacts from experiments gone awry. But guests also will see a mirror that magically becomes a portal into Beast’s Castle…

To be continued!

Why in the world would they want to change the Country Bears? It is not like the show is very long to begin with.

As long as they keep "Blood on the Saddle." If this turns out to be true, I guess it's a reflection of our shortened attention spans.

^Technically you aren't supposed to be allowed in unless you are waiting for Dumbo, but if you just ask the cast member, they'll tell you to just return the pager when you leave. I did that just to get my photos inside of the tent and they were fine with it, so it should work if you just want to visit the place for Kristen.

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/08/celebrate-the-magic-nighttime-show-coming-to-magic-kingdom-park/

Beginning this November, guests visiting Magic Kingdom Park will be able to enjoy a new nighttime projection show on Cinderella Castle. “Celebrate the Magic” will incorporate favorite elements from the current show, “The Magic, The Memories and You!,” with all-new music, storytelling and special effects.

“‘Celebrate the Magic’ takes us on a journey to the heart of the most beloved Disney stories and characters,” said Show Director Katy Harris. “This amazing show will magically transform Cinderella Castle with spectacular projection effects, choreographed to a new music soundtrack. The show will be full of emotion and storytelling, proving that, with imagination and magic in our hearts, anything is possible.”

“The Magic, The Memories and You!” will be presented for the last time on Labor Day, September 3, at both Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland park. While “Celebrate the Magic” will be exclusive to Magic Kingdom Park, Disneyland Resort guests can look forward to the return of “it’s a small world” holiday later this year, as well as the debut of a new live entertainment experience in the Fantasyland Theatre, opening in summer 2013.
