The lift angle as reported by Hersheypark is 50degrees. (Yes, that's steeper than most coasters in the USA have for a first drop!)
I can't believe that people have taken to dislike the lift hill. I personally love it; there is something very "Golden Age", maybe even industrial/steampunk about that combination of lattice and i-beams.
