Yeah, the mountains REALLY tower over the castle. Its kind of sad really.

I forgot to mention the food. Its great so far. Robb and I went to this cool Cantonese restaurant at our hotel that was delicious. The food at the Magic Kingdom was good too. They had cool noodle soup bowls that were very tasty. The exchange rate is also nice. I think Mickey mouse bars were less than 2 US dollars.

Oh, and the pussy card Rules! It makes things so much easier. Its like a debit card but sooo much better. If this came to the US I'd be thrilled. Transactions are easy and fast, and public transportation seems much less scary with it. No fumbling with change and tickets.

Is it just me, or does that picture make HKDL seem like it's in the middle of nowhere? As compared to ours, which you can see buildings everywhere.

It basically is. It's built on all reclaimed land and there isn't really any "outside world" that can be seen from inside the park.

It's kind of nice.....

It's more scenic than DLP ever will be! That's just built on flat land.

Hey guys! We're waiting for our plane in South Korea to Tokyo so I thought I'd hop on a computer and surf the web.

Mark "Asia = Awesome" Luskus

Wow, you guys totally should have stayed a few hours and hit Lotte World in Souel (i loved it! especially their curvy escalators!)! Elissa could have ridden a one-of-a-kind intamin there! (aqua-trax) and a vekoma (which loops around the pathway, very cool)

anyway, im glad to see yourself enjoying yourself in asia, i love that place and i can't wait to go back!

Looks like you are having a great time there. Merci for keeping us "in touch" with how it's going, so far. Chip & Dale Deedly Boppers hmm? GO Elissa!!!:)

And I hope you all have a lovely Holiday Weekend this weekend, and as well a boffo New Year's Eve, wherever you're spending it. I forgot where you said.

Silly ole'bear I is.

Have fun you guys. And safe journey back to this continent, hmm?

It is quite spooky how Main Street in DLHK and Main Street in the original Disneyland look exactly the same! If you drank one too many beers and fell asleep on a bench and woke up in a altered state it could really confuse someone trying to figure out where they really are California or Hong Kong

Would you say the castle height in DLHK is the same height as DL California?(with the mountains just ruining the forced perspective vibe causing the castle to look smaller than it really is?)

I know, you're driving down the I-5, then on the right there's a mountain-with snow-how very California

DLP is Disneyland Paris... which is definately not on I-5.

Either way, I would say it's probably the "prettiest" Disney resort, so far.

Ok, after seeing the photos, HKDL looks like a great park with a lot of room to expand! Very tiny castle though, the mountains do not help!

The beauty of HKDL is that if they want to expand, they can just make more land!

Ok, honestly everyone it's REALLY pissing me off with everyone talking about the "kids peeing in the fountains."

We saw NOTHING of the sort while we were there and we've already commented that three times in this thread.

IMO, those reports seemed to be nothing than the media seeking out something negative about the park, found some isolated incidents of the occurrence and made a big deal out of it.

And now the park has a reputation of "people peeing in the park and being filthy dirty."

The park is nothing of the sort. And every person here who continues to comment about it, is actually not HELPING the situation any. You're only adding to the bad reputation of the park and essentially supporting the over-glamourized American sensationalist journalism.

The people at the park were nice, courteous, clean, etc. If you want to see a disgusting display of humanity, the local Saturday crowds at most So Cal parks are 100 times worse than anything we saw during our stay at Hong Kong Disneyland.

So I am going to ask, for the sake of the park, to please stop with the "kids peeing in the fountain" comments.

Thanks for your understanding.

i saw one tho...when i was there 2 weeks ago...near the entrance, when the park was closing...

Well, we've spent our Christmas traveling! How typical of us!

We are now settled in our hotel in Fukuoka Japan. Let me tell you all how the last 24 hours have been and you'll know why this TR is short!

Basically, we got on our plane at Hong Kong last night at 12:40am to Seoul. We had a 4 hour layover there and then we arrived at Narita around 11:30. Got our Japan Rail Passes processed, made a quick stop at Galaxy Express 999 then got on part 1 of our bullet train to Fukoka, which stopped in Osaka where we had a 1 hour layover until our next bullet train, and now we have finally arrived in our hotel and it's 11:45PM!

Wow, what a day! At least we got a credit!

I'll post our "insane travel day to Japan" tomorrow....but for now, onto part 2 of the Hong Kong Disneyland Photos.....

This is the road to nowhere, or what we assume will be "Future expansion land!"

asia98a.jpg.fe8fcb6a0553c2950e94d3abd45411cb.jpg

Here is the obligatory "coaster photo" of the update. You're not going to get another one, so stare LONG and HARD at this one!

asia98aa.jpg.a2c2f890ab1ab62260eb67387923e044.jpg

We must have ridden Space Mountain about 15 times during our trip. We love single rider lines!

asia45f.jpg.f81b83431540b154755457da9bdf88ce.jpg

It wouldn't be a trip to Asia without doing the "signature move." And the fact that we have 3D glasses on just makes it that much more pathetic!

asia45e.jpg.aeb200fc36f5ad4a16bd8e1dca93dab6.jpg

For those of you living inside a cave, this is called Dumbo. You ride in elephants (not real ones) and you go round in circles. And yes, elephants really DO fly. And since you live in a cave, you really can't prove me wrong now can you?

asia45d.jpg.297cfbdf8df1786f0790db2e255d0885.jpg

Yay! Donkeys! This ride just scored tons of points!

Time to head out for a bit and check out Hong Kong!

asia118.jpg.12e689f20b74993b83dc78c919183667.jpg

Is it just me or does even this lifeless statue look annoyed with Robb?

Elissa's all "Meh....mine's bigger!"

asia117.jpg.600f3d8a0fc7a546c0db2d0a6e08fb41.jpg

"Elissa and the Quaker sitting in a tree....." .......What....WTF are you talking about. They aren't in a tree at all!!! That was the love swing about 20 photos back! Who the hell is writing these stupid captions anyway?!?! Moron!!!!

asia115b.jpg.d6d13a98df6648abe5f9bcd86459186e.jpg

Here's the "snack size" version of the castle. (Note: the snack size and the FULL size are actually the same size!) (Note #2: Please disregard the chest hair. It's just for show and will be weed wacked in 20 minutes time!)

asia115.jpg.fea0e146e575b6d7f33566faedb9ad81.jpg

We haven't had an "OMG would you just LOOK at that castle....LMAO" photo in a while now. So here's one!

asia113.jpg.c201a3da421e41779d0d64268585c5be.jpg

The day ended right here...at least for Elissa. A threesome with two rodents dressed as chinese restaurant staff. Elissa melted on the spot!

asia112.jpg.09eb940507cfc96f268feb85d7b305df.jpg

It's the "Gigant-o-bot." Some one with less imagination than these captions!

Prepare for random stupidity involving plastic guns and bright lights!

If the future of driving is Robb in a car that's two sizes too small for him, I'm chasing in my Toyota and getting a horse! (why am I talking about myself in the 3rd person.) (Why am I still awake?) (Who invented liquid soap...and WHY???)

And the grand finale of HK photos.....

asia127.jpg.97c6554fd622886291e95510865d3200.jpg

We had a really awesome time at Hong Kong Disneyland. It's a great park....seriously! All the "rumors" you've heard aren't true! When this park gets a few more attractions, it will REALLY be awesome. Ok, next update will be day one in Japan!

asia126.jpg.f6223dc465fc9d71a3b7aec7dc3ce592.jpg

"Hey, Jackie Chan!"

asia125.jpg.8fd4ed183de4ce5768c4c1baa076347a.jpg

asia120b.jpg.62a46da14fcaf5f2aea552383cfe5ff8.jpg

More buildings and....oh crap...there actually IS butter on the right hand side!

asia120a.jpg.0962c4ec9bae9a93ff65e475f6f0629f.jpg

What you see in this photo - lots of buildings....NO BUTTER!!!!

asia120.jpg.3b6622615852cbb7533f0e52f83c19d0.jpg

Quaker, these are buildings. People live in them. They don't churn butter. They have machines to do that for them. Get with the program, dude!

asia119e.jpg.08bc73f0f41474b32816b28e00bd0401.jpg

We headed to the New World Centre where we could show the Quaker what a modern day building looks like.

asia119d.jpg.682c770426090146b624a2b0ceaa937d.jpg

The trains were a *little* more crowded than yesterday!
