PTR:Japan - larrygator goes to Japan (11/6 update)

Recommended Posts

^ Sadly, the spinning coaster (yellow track) wasn't in operation for us on our visit there. They really tried to "get it going" for us, but it never happened.

Oh well, another visit I guess, lol.

A monorail that stops for photo ops??? Great TR, Larry!

Not only did it stop, it also tilted to the right or left a bit making it the most horrifying monorail ever.

So, it's the wooden wild mouse of monorails?

So for the last installment I present my most expensive credit. On the first day of the trip I did some sightseeing and then about 25 of us took a couple of trains and a suspended monorail out to the Chiba Zoo. It was overcast when we left and we knew the forecast called for rain. As luck would have it, as soon as we got to the last leg of the journey it started raining. We got to the zoo and realized the rides were not running but paid the admission charge in hopes that over the next two hours the coaster would open. The rain never let up enough for the coaster to open.

About ten days later many of the same people and a couple of new people took a hiatus from our time at Tokyo Disneyland to take a trip back out to the Chiba Zoo. The weather was again overcast but we got lucky and the rain held off and we all got the credit. I think admission to the park (twice), transportation (twice) and the tickets for the ride came out to around $40 USD. So, I rationalized in the following manner. Given the option of paying $20 and not riding or $40 and riding, the latter option won out.

On to the pictures.

Suspended monorail as part of the Tokyo transit system. It was around this time the rain started.

OK, this doesn't look promising. Should we pay the admission charge or not? Well if you read the text in my post you would know we forked over the money.

We had to walk through the whole zoo to get to the amusement area. Here are the babboons.

So we made it to the ride area.

There's the coaster.

There's the coaster train. Not moving!

And here are the disappointed enthusiasts waiting for the coaster to open.

I get the inside info from Badtz Maru and learn that the coaster won't be operating today.

Pretty much all the non-enclosed rides are closed.

10 days later we try a new strategy. Kristen releases all the animals from their cages and leads the charge to the coaster.
