Photo TR: Martin's Fantasy Island 8/10/11

Postby DougMJr » Thu Aug 11, 2011 11:35 am

I have recently gotten into photography. I decided to take my camera on a quick trip to Fantasy Island yesterday. I shot most of these in manual mode with f-stops ranging from 4-15 and variable shutter speeds. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve my photography please let me know.

We arrived around 1PM, with our discounted tickets in hand.

IMGP1141.JPG
The Golden Nugget.

IMGP1143.JPG
New for 2011 Mind Warp (It could be called whiplash because that is pretty much half of the ride.)

IMGP1147.JPG
The modest Ferris wheel.

IMGP1149.JPG
This was my favorite ride there. Long ride cycle allowed for some great views.

IMGP1157.JPG
Not too tall, but tall enough.

IMGP1160.JPG
The "spinning" Wild Mouse.

IMGP1162.JPG
I'm a fan of Disk-O's.

IMGP1164.JPG
Reasonably priced games! And they have IGOTIT!

IMGP1165.JPG
It rained a little bit, so the slides were closed while the crew dried them off.

IMGP1167.JPG
Wild west theming, love it.

IMGP1169.JPG
This slide beat me up a little bit.

IMGP1173.JPG
Silver Comet at it's peak.

IMGP1170.JPG
I spy a frog hopper.

IMGP1176.JPG
The Toilet Bowl.

IMGP1178.JPG
While a lot of the park is pavement, there are some nice gardens near the entrance.

IMGP1179.JPG
Sssscchhhh! Sleeping Giant!

IMGP1180.JPG
All Aboard!

IMGP1183.JPG
They have a great selection of rides for little kids.

IMGP1185.JPG
They even have some playground slides.

IMGP1187.JPG
The Free canoes was a highlight of the day.

IMGP1191.JPG
You got to canoe around a small island inhabited by Native American Statues.

IMGP1195.JPG
The reason why we're here.

IMGP1196.JPG
Nerd Shot!

IMGP1200.JPG
Nice Curves!

IMGP1202.JPG
The Support Structure.

IMGP1203.JPG
Down they go!

IMGP1206.JPG

IMGP1208.JPG
Do the Disk-O!

IMGP1209.JPG

IMGP1210.JPG
No Thanks!

IMGP1212.JPG
First time on one of these, fun!

IMGP1226.JPG
From the ferris wheel.

IMGP1229.JPG
Weee!

IMGP1237.JPG

IMGP1247.JPG
Do they know what they are in for?

IMGP1249.JPG
I don't think so!

IMGP1250.JPG
Splash!

IMGP1252.JPG
Drenched!

IMGP1253.JPG
There is also a nice car ride.

IMGP1269.JPG
Everyone loves the Star-Flyer!

IMGP1272.JPG
Mind Warping in progress.

IMGP1274.JPG
Awesome, intense, Ride.

This was my first Photo TR, if you have any comments or criticisms please let me know. I plan on heading up to Darien Lake soon with my camera for TR #2. Until then...

Lots of great shots in here! This is another park I'm sorry I never visited while I was still living on the East Coast.

Those three flume rider close-ups totally made me LOL.

And Mind Warp looks like a complete nightmare. I'll take the Tilt-A-Whirl, thank you very much.

You did a fine job capturing Martin's. There were quite a few angles I liked.

Mind Warp is an excellent and intense ride. Glad MFI was willing to install something that is a first in the U.S.

 i am sad because i love martins fantasy island Ive only been there twice but next week i go to Marineland so its not all bad. . . .

dragon mountain is waiting

the other thing i find weird about buffalo is that even though it has a lower population than Detroit it manages to support 3 amusement parks! detroit used to sport 3 but now it has none

Houston has tons more people than both, and has a lone small park with one disintegrating coaster.

Very nice photos! Thanks for sharing. Looks like a nice park. The name of it though makes me want to yell "De plane! De plane" or "Smiles, everyone! Smiles!"

Brings back good memories of a TPR trip long ago. I thought MFI was a great little park! I hope to go there again sometime.

The chances of me getting to this park this weekend are slim but Marine land is a go!
