Divv3k
DAY SEVEN: KING'S DOMINION The last day of the trip was East Coast Bash at King's Dominion. This was an excellent event put on by TPR and the park. There was a crazy amount of ERT and a load of of other amazing perks. (Beer kegs at lunch!) With the trip being called The IntimidaTOUR it's clear what the big attraction today was. The new Intimidator 305 coaster was fantastic. It's so good to see a coaster like this being built. It's very intense and is just a lot of fun. The night-time ERT on this thing was insane and I got a crapload of rides. In all honesty I wasn't overly impressed with the rest of King's DOminion but I really was impressed with the lengths the park went to to give us a great day. They really were fantastic for us and it really was a great way to end a few weeks of TPR tripping. The funniest part of the day was at lunch where Robb hosted the TPR Quest game in which I was a lucky participant. The game involved a LOT of running around the picnic grove on my part trying to find random items from the rest of the group. Needless to say, I didn't win but I think I put in a respectable performance. The beer kegs at lunch were HUGELY appreciated by me during this! All in all, the TPR IntimidaTOUR was yet another fantastic TPR trip. Huge thanks to Robb and Elissa for all their efforts in putting all this together once again. I can't wait for the next one! Here's the photos... Last park of the trip and it’s East Coast Bash at King’s Dominion! We had some morning ERT on Dominator. It’s still as good as it was at Geauga Lake. Except a lot more orange now. I think this is Grizzly. It wasn’t that great! Now for the whole point of visiting King’s Dominion! Intimidator 305 was excellent! The train goes up the lift VERY quick! I had heard people complaining about the trims but I thought the ride was crazy enough with them! I can’t imagine what it’s like without them. Gratuitous shot of TWISTY! Yeah, this one’s more about the twistiness than the airtime. I’m glad to finally see another 300 foot Intamin coaster. Hopefully we’ll see more in the future! Intimidator 305 is Divv-approved! We’ll be back for ERT later! I’m Divv and I like beer! This was my cool prize from the amazing TPR Quest game! I don’t know how I’m still alive after that! Thank God for the beer! Domo lurks… Renee scores Taxi Jam with thanks to KidTums! It’s so handy that Elissa brings Kristen with her on these trips! Oh dear. It’s another Hurler! And another Wayne’s World style diner! Sadly this Hurler wasn’t any better than Carowinds! Rebel Yell only had the red side open so that’s one credit I’ll live without. The Togo stand up coaster wasn’t the best. I was shocked! I wonder if the ones in Japan are any better? At least the ones in Japan are in Japan! This ride op made friends with us. Mostly thanks to Steve. I bet you’re shocked about that. Volcano was a blast. I’m surprised there aren’t more inverted launched coasters out there. What an AMAZING name for a drop tower! There’s some TPR members enjoying Drop Tower. Funnily enough the name doesn’t make the ride any less INTIMIDATING! Oh look, it’s Boob Lasters!!! Ouch! That’s a tough way to go! Woohoo! ERT on Inimidator 305! TPDave loves his straps! I got about 11 rides on Intimidator during this ERT session. I really did like the ride! So that’s the TPR Intimidatour in the books! Thanks to Robb and Elissa for putting on yet another fantastic TPR trip! Hope you enjoyed the TR! Thanks for reading!
Intimidator305
Great trip report! Glad you enjoyed Intimidator 305, Volcano, and Drop Tower (definitely the 3 best rides in the park). You really got some good photos too! I really like this one...
imawesome1124
Awesome report Divv! I was at ECB too and I it was one of the best days of my life, no exaggeration. I305 is definately the best coaster I have ever been on. I disagree with you on Grizzly though, I think it is awesome.
cfc
I wonder if the ones in Japan are any better? The stand-up at Mitsui Greenland definitely is--and it doesn't even have a loop. That was the single best day I've ever spent at Kings Dominion. Edited June 12, 2011 by cfc
Carnage
That day got pretty hot too from what I remember. Or at least the i305 photo walk back was. I was glad that I had done most of the park already, and so didn't need to rush to ride everything.
cfc
^Yeah, it was quite a scorcher. Erik and I spent a fair amount of time in the water park that day (particularly in the lazy river).
KDCOASTERFAN
Awesome report Divv! I was at ECB too and I it was one of the best days of my life, no exaggeration. I305 is definately the best coaster I have ever been on. I disagree with you on Grizzly though, I think it is awesome. Yeah Grizz is back in top form after the offseason trackwork, even the orange train is smoother now....wish I could say the same for Dominator though. Skycoastin Steve
In all honesty I wasn't overly impressed with the rest of King's Dominion Agreed. I think this is Grizzly. It wasn’t that great! Disagree!
