Photo TR: A Double-Disney Vacation

Postby jedimaster1227 » Wed Aug 20, 2014 10:01 pm

In keeping up with my annual tradition, I made a short trip out to the Disneyland Resort this year, but took it a step further with a back-to-back vacation on the Disney Dream as soon as I returned from California! As I'm sure you've expected, I geeked out on both legs of the trip, ate lots of food and took a ton of photos (over 3000 actually). I'm happy to say I whittled those photos down for you quite a bit, but I'll start up this year's report with a look at our first day and a half of fun at Disneyland...
001.JPG
Isn't it funny how Paradise Pier has become the place that I always go to first when I get to the Disneyland Resort?
002.JPG
Maybe this is why...
003.JPG
Lobster Nachos!
004.JPG
It's great to be back!
005.JPG
Still finding new details to love in Cars Land.
006.JPG
Luigi's Flying Tires continues to be one of my favorite attractions at the resort. It is simple and fun but it really gets me each time.
007.JPG
It's no Captain EO, but I seriously loved the Guardians of the Galaxy extended preview in the Magic Eye Theater.
008.JPG
Neat to see a Frankenweenie tie-in added to the Haunted Mansion queue...
009.JPG
This. This gets me.
010.JPG
The monster in me has returned.
011.JPG
Yes, I am that addicted to Mint Juleps.
012.JPG
The Conquest of the Planet of the Mint Juleps has begun!
013.JPG
He's probably just getting gorgeously tanned in Summer...
014.JPG
Still doesn't make any sense to me.
015.JPG
Hunny is one strong hallucinogen.
016.JPG
Do you wanna eat a snowman?
017.JPG
HOME!!!
018.JPG
Stand back!
019.JPG
Well, this is new.
020.JPG
Man, I love this place.
021.JPG
First Space Mountain ride of the trip!
022.JPG
This portion of Paradise Pier really isn't any worse off without the Maliboomer... You might even say it is better.
023.JPG
I love the Golden Zephyr.
024.JPG
Seriously, seriously love this ride.
025.JPG
I always forget that the monorail passes through the main entrance of Soarin' over California.
026.JPG
Very different from Florida's inside.
027.JPG
Well, this is new...
028.JPG
Thankfully, this is virtually the same.
029.JPG
"You are with Sigourney Weaver aboard the Spaceship NOSTROMO."
030.JPG
Yeah, these are brilliant too.
031.JPG
I can stare at this mountain range all day long.
032.JPG
Much detail. So water. Many wow.
033.JPG
I can never get enough of Radiator Springs Racers!
034.JPG
Love this ride!
035.JPG
LOVE IT!
036.JPG
Where could I be now?
037.JPG
This always amuses me at the Boudin Bakery Tour.
038.JPG
What have we here?
039.JPG
OMG YES!!!!
040.JPG
Since we were already here...
041.JPG
That is the best looking Tomato and Mozzarella Sandwich I've ever seen!
042.JPG
The Jolly Holiday Combo for the win at the Jolly Holiday Bakery!
043.JPG
Cone you believe I'm here AGAIN?
044.JPG
This is also known as a "Handwich."
045.JPG
I had to try this.
046.JPG
I was so eager to try it that I didn't wait to eat half before I realized I hadn't grabbed a photo. It was pretty solid. Not Corn Dog Castle-level, but solid.
047.JPG
So then this happened...
048.JPG
Take the Tunnel!!!
049.JPG
It feels so awesome to still be able to sit in the front cab of the monorail here. The views are incredible!
050.JPG
It was a real bummer that the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage was closed for refurbishment during this visit, but I'm glad to know it will be re-opening later this year, contrary to popular rumors.
051.JPG
Progress!
052.JPG
Look at this!
053.JPG
If only a train had passed by...
054.JPG
An awesome start to an incredible set of trips!

I never get tired of seeing this!
002.JPG
Autopia... Not my favorite attraction but still unique.
003.JPG
A tribute to Midget Autopia...
004.JPG
Off-road!
005.JPG
Yes. I have a mild obsession with the Rocket Rods track.
006.JPG
Heaven.
007.JPG
I love this place so much!
008.JPG
The pupu platter is always a winner in my book!
009.JPG
Radiator Springs Racers continues to hold a spot as one of my favorite Disney attractions anywhere.
010.JPG
A new interactive game has been added to Mickey's Fun Wheel as a preshow for World of Color...
011.JPG
It is like a giant game of "Simon" played on mobile phones and the winner of each set of rounds gets to control the lighting on the wheel for sixty seconds! Pretty awesome if you ask me!
012.JPG
I'd trade much of Walt Disney World just to have Paradise Pier in Florida.
013.JPG
Prepare for my fandom...
014.JPG
Fandom...
015.JPG
I love this show.
016.JPG
So freaking much!
017.JPG
Subtle sorcerer's hat!
018.JPG
So neat!
019.JPG
FIRE!!!
020.JPG
Still my favorite thing ever.
021.JPG
Always worth a visit to see Mickey and the Magical Map!
022.JPG
Air Louie comin' at ya!
023.JPG
Avenger-ventions.
024.JPG
Iron Man's Hall of Armor still looks awesome!
025.JPG
Disneyland's oldest cast member.
026.JPG
...Yeah.
027.JPG
I never get tired of seeing the Disneyland All-American College Band perform!
028.JPG
Time for more foodgasms at the Carthay Circle Restaurant! Let's start with the sriracha-lime glazed duck wings!
029.JPG
And the Carthay House Biscuits never fail to impress!
030.JPG
The Miso Salmon is still one of the best I've ever had.
031.JPG
This lamb was SUPERB!
032.JPG
This atrium. So incredible!
033.JPG
Love this!
034.JPG
Tried the Fantasmic! Dessert Package for the first time and really enjoyed it!
035.JPG
It gave a great view too!
036.JPG
I'm finally going to admit it...
037.JPG
I think I finally like Disneyland's Fantasmic! better than the version at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
038.JPG
Still a cool effect.
039.JPG
This wins it all.
040.JPG
Love this!
041.JPG
I went on Space Mountain a lot during this trip!
042.JPG
Really, a lot!
043.JPG
Noticed this window for the first time when walkin' right down the middle of Mainstreet USA.
044.JPG
Love this little story detail at the exit of Toy Story Mania...
045.JPG
Mickey's Fun Wheel is another favorite of mine!
046.JPG
The BEST!
047.JPG
Hilarious!
048.JPG
Another hidden gem in this park.
049.JPG
Boiler man makes me smile.
050.JPG
I forgot how much I enjoy California Adventure's Tower of Terror. It isn't Tokyo's or Florida's but it is still VERY fun!

001.JPG
Still cool after all these years!
002.JPG
Love this ride!
003.JPG
The Pixar Play Parade still rocks the route at California Adventure!
004.JPG
Love this!
005.JPG
Disney detail.
006.JPG
Still fun after all these years.
007.JPG
FIRE!
008.JPG
Fans of Finding Nemo: The Musical at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park will recognize the design of most of the characters in the Pixar Play Parade as they are copies of the ones used in the show in Florida, though some are mounted to floats, like Crush here.
009.JPG
That Tinker Toy is still the most evily-awesome parade contraption ever!
010.JPG
Back again...
011.JPG
Stopped by the Mad T Party for old time's sake.
012.JPG
I still miss Flynn's Arcade.
013.JPG
Went to Wine Country Trattoria for the World of Color Dinner Package and got my favorite lamb shank again!
014.JPG
The dessers here are great too!
015.JPG
Sure, we got soaked for it, but standing at the absolute front of the lowest tier on the water for the Paradise Bay viewing area was worth it.
016.JPG
The view is killer!
017.JPG
Seriously perfect!
018.JPG
So much for me to gush over with this show!
019.JPG
Still one of my favorite effects!
020.JPG
The giddy fan in me flips out every time I see The Old Mill segment.
021.JPG
Still my favorite.
022.JPG
And I got soaked for it, but I have no regrets!
023.JPG
Annual tradition photo!
024.JPG
Hiya Squirt!
025.JPG
Because I love my camera...
026.JPG
Time to ogle over Cars Land at night...
027.JPG
Such awe. So wow. Many awesome!
028.JPG
So much neon!
029.JPG
Still a fun little gag!
030.JPG
I love this park so much!
031.JPG
So perfect!
032.JPG
033.JPG
Rock Candy Moutain tribute!

Frozen Pre-Parade before Soundsational...
036.JPG
I stare at this a lot.
037.JPG
Time to enjoy the splendor that is ASIMO!
038.JPG
He's peer into your soul thru the internet.
039.JPG
He's the latest in a long line of robotic beings that will eventually lead to humanity's downfall.
040.JPG
He can stand on one foot. And annihilate humanity.

Just kidding!
041.JPG
So... New Orleans Square. Everyone's been up in arms over the Club 33 expansion visibly altering the place too much. But I'll be honest... I barely noticed a difference as a fan. I doubt the general public would even know at this point that anything ever changed.
042.JPG
The Court of Angels is now a part of the main entrance of the new Club 33.
043.JPG
This is the new entryway to the club.
044.JPG
Here's the buzzer.
045.JPG
Here's some glasses.
046.JPG
You can now see into the club along this pathway, but I think it is still pretty subtle.
047.JPG
The old entrance remains for historic value.
048.JPG
Pirate Red has been retained!
049.JPG
I love this version of Big Thunder Mountain!
050.JPG
Neat new shout outs to the other parks!

Ever burning...

Classic.
019.JPG
Such a fantastic queue and exit line for Radiator Springs Racers.

They really did an incredible job bringing Cars Land to life!

Seriously unreal.
022.JPG
It just looks so grand!
