Photo TR: Wild Waves Enchanted Park

Heya everyone! Finally decided to make an account after lurking this site for many years, now having a reason to contribute with some park photos! Headed on over to Wild Waves Enchanted Park over in Federal Way, WA, on a beautiful sunny Saturday (Temperature was maxing at 96°, highest it has been all year so far).

Upon arrival, the parking area was getting busy as usual for opening time. First thing I noticed is that they have attempted to organize the entrance line now. No, there aren't any fencing que lines to get into the park, but at least now there is a large lane of people that wraps around the outskirt of the parking area. It really was quite alarming to see the mass amount of people that wait for their turn to enter. Assuming it would take roughly 45mins to get in due to only 4 lanes open with their turntables, the process was surprisingly quick and painless, lasting only about 15mins.

Not to make any judgements, but I was floored seeing so many fat children at the park. The last time I had visited the park was a few years ago. This visit was a real eye-opener for me not only that I have been getting more active with my physique, but also as I have matured more into an adult now. Healthy kids are honestly now a minority. There were more beer guts on kids than there were with adults.

Since Six Flags had lost ownership of the park, there has been much needed improvements in which I am content with how the new management is running it. For one, they are now including outside source of entertainment. Like for example, they had smurf mascots and a bird exhibit come in today. They seem to cycle through different sources of entertainment on a weekly basis, which is a nice thought to have guests continue going to their park. About half of the rides have had a new, much needed fresh coating of paint. Flowers have flourished more now, and also the janitorial work has massively improved (Still some needed progress though).

The staff of the park is a hit-and-miss situation. There were some that didn't mind operating rides or providing food services to paying customers. As a matter of fact, when I decided to try out some Dip n' dots for the first time at one of the many carts around, one of the ladies was really approachable and informative about her services. She was very friendly with a smile brightened across her face (Maybe she thought I was cute, who knows). But it felt great to be able to enjoy the day with a tasty treat. While there some others who looked like as if a zombie apocalypse had taken over their mind. They would stare blankly at a fence and call out their safety requirements, and take their sweet time checking all safety harnesses, lap bars, etc.

There is currently construction going on, in which they intend to build a few new water slides to replace their older one. The area is rather small and compact, so it'll be interesting to see the layout of it once completed. With the construction going on, a major pathway was blocked off, forcing park guests to walk around Mud Lake to go from the water rides over to the park rides.

Overall, the park has made more improvement and seems to be taking a turn for the better. I look forward to going back into the park again, hopefully during Fright Fest or when the Christmas Lights are up again.

I know you guys want to get right to the pictures, so here ya'll go!

Now that we have found a parking spot, we must head to the back of the line. All the way...

Yeah... It looks like it'll take forever. But the staff was very quick and efficient.

Mud Lake! The water level has went down quite a bit. Starting to look a lot like mud on one half of the side.

The local fish that often gather over at the gaming sidewalk. That's where all the feeding occurs. There are gumball machines filled with fish food that can be gathered for a quarter a piece.

Even some of the precious, wonderful, adorable, lovable ducks enjoy a peaceful swim over here.

One of the new attractions here, this is basically a zip line that pulls riders to the tower over by a few slides, and then sends them zipping back across the park. This ride has a price tag to get admission for, and honestly it ain't really worth it.

14.thumb.JPG.3a9ea9786e0c6f84cb8bef54e81f2f74.JPG

PIRATE! I love these rides.

15.thumb.JPG.6697f8bad491d10d299ec6dcd38c629d.JPG

It gets pretty high up there. Often cases where when 1 side is up high, they all scream. And as it swings to the other side, the others scream. It becomes a dueling match on which side can scream the loudest.

This week at the park, they had a bird exhibit going on.

That might be too sarcastic of a sign. It was only the side of a decent sized porch.

The gaming area was pretty dead majority of the day, thanks to the construction of the watersides blocking the major path that links the water park to the rides.

Here we have the original Enchanted Railway ride that has been with the park since the first opening.

Some of the plenty areas of theming they have throughout the park. Western theme!

Don't look at the suspicious ride behind the shack! It is not important!

This area has been closed off to the public and is now where they have temporary storage.

Another new ride for me. They have replaced the potato sack slide with potato sack slide v2! Inter-tube addition.

40.thumb.JPG.5201794f8d16de033023416f9f3bf4d0.JPG

The worlds slowest conveyor belt brings up the only 4 inter-tubes for this ride. It takes a while to get through the small enough line.

41.thumb.JPG.e20cedca5c4289b3e25a14972ce907bb.JPG

It may look small, but that bump in the middle gives you some surprising air time if you're a big guy.

42.thumb.JPG.20dd2bf6d75bab4c488d5203f13a76b8.JPG

Kiddie coaster! The back wheels of the cars are always sparking fire. It's normal apparently.

43.thumb.JPG.1cb8154a8541aecc1be542b29e87ce8e.JPG

This is also another fairly new ride here, about 3 years old. This ride replaces the carousel swing ride. ZAMPERLA! I've got my eye on you. This thing tossed you around like a rag doll.

You could smell the food here from the Kangaroo hop ride. Man it smelled real good.

Did I just get teleported to Busch Gardens Williamsburg?

Fishy fountain! During Fright Fest, they decorate the fishes all black, glue on some vampire teeth, and turn the water all blood red. It looks so cool.

No theme park is complete without a complimentary carousal ride. No music was playing sadly.

With the growing latino population coming to the park, they have been adding more and more Mexican food stalls.

BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS! *Sniff some more*

Twister is another classic ride that I thoroughly enjoy going on.

61.thumb.JPG.5dad1b498315b3c0abc03ac684a31eff.JPG

One of those slow-poke ride operators who took their sweet-ass time getting everyone seated and checking safety harnesses. I clocked him taking 8mins 48 seconds to from unloading passengers to starting the ride up again.

62.thumb.JPG.46676c9f6a441f07822a7d4a29fbbe8e.JPG

This are is really serene and quiet. Almost no one goes over here. If you ever need to sit down to eat or get a few minutes to yourself after hearing your nagging significant other for the majority of the day.

63.thumb.JPG.79021828ee39bd5d9bda97ef2126c3e6.JPG

Tea cup ride! Fresh coating of pain and it looks so much better than it did back then. Originally the ride would also bounce up and down, but that apparently caused a lawsuit after some incident with a kid, and so now that feature ain't used anymore.

Another view.

As fun as this ride is, this tends to break down often. There was one time when I was on the ride, and it happened to break down while completely upsidedown. They could not get it to come back down; it locked up. After about 40 minutes of serious head rush, we all had our feet back on precious grounds.

One of the very popular rides during the Summer (Let's be honest: Washington folk can't handle weather over 80°f very well, so they swarm here).

This use to the the Octopus ride, but that kept breaking down on a daily basis and closing for many lengths of time. Eventually they decided to get rid of it. It currently sits out in the parking lot area.

You are a captive audience when it comes to prices on food there. We brought our own cooler (Can't bring into the park).

This area here provides a good head chopper illusion.

2 trains run consistently, so the wait time ain't that all terrible. On a real busy day, you wouldn't wait any more than 20 minutes.

There's a positive and a negative to this ride.

Positive: Riders get to go twice in a row.

Negative: Only 1 train, thus long line wait time.
