VF15
Despite the title, a good part of this trip report takes place during daylight hours, but it was my first time visiting Valleyfair during the evening since it became my home park, so I decided why not make a photo trip report out of it. Overall, I had a fun time, but it wasn't my favorite visit of all time. It was quite crowded, but it was Saturday, so that was to be expected. There were cloudy skies for most of the day. It wasn't hot, but it was humid. The operations varied by ride, so they were either good or really bad. I also went to see if there were any new clues about the 2015 waterpark expansion, but I found nothing. Here are the photos... It had been about a month since my last visit, so it was nice to be back here. Started off the day with High Roller. Had a pretty average ride on it. Grass where Hydroblaster used to be. These flags in the old IMAX spot are new, but they're probably decorative flags. Had a really rough ride on Excalibur. I guess the floodwaters didn't help it at all. Was going to ride Renegade, but it was stopped on the lift hill. Don't know why. Went to ride Wild Thing instead, which was running great today, and as you'll see, I really needed it to be. A game on FunTV. A line this long + one-train operation + the fact that it's Saturday = an annoyed coaster enthusiast. Really, Valleyfair? Unless there is some problem I'm not aware of that doesn't allow two-train operation, this is just Valleyfair operating on the cheap. Went to ride Corkscrew instead since it had a short wait. It was fun as per usual. Street Beat playing a tune. Took a ride on Enterprise since it's a guilty pleasure ride for me. They weren't filling the ride to it's full capacity, so that was irritating. Dear Renegade, Why won't you run two trains? Bottom of Wild Thing's chain lift for chain lift enthusiasts. The wait for Wild Thing wasn't that bad, but it would've been nice if they ran the third train. Tilter lit up during the evening. Up next was Steel Venom, which was fun as usual. Steel Venom's holding brake. Wild Thing going through the figure-8. More decorational flags. The ferris wheel looks great with the new lights. Monster lit up. High Roller's second hill lit up. A kids' show in Planet Snoopy. Corkscrew going through the second corkscrew. Mad Mouse, which I have yet to ride this year. Wild Thing's lift hill lit up. Rode Wild Thing 5 times today. It was running great because I was able to sit in the back and get good airtime, and the MCBR trims weren't the worst they've ever been. Games midway lit up. Enterprise at night. Steel Venom's twisty spike. I unfortunately had to leave earlier than I wanted. I'm glad I went, but it was disappointing that I never got to ride Renegade, the best ride in the park. Hopefully it isn't as busy next time.
VF15
Short Follow-Up Trip Report I was able to return to Valleyfair on Sunday for a few hours and had a much better time. I did 10 laps on Renegade due to the short lines, so I was a happy camper. Also had 2 laps on both Steel Venom and Wild Thing (a few of the trim brakes near the end of the MCBR were turned off, so that was nice). The only downside to the day was that I heard a lot of dumb GP comments while waiting for Renegade. The best one was "Renegade is boring because it doesn't go upside-down." The best one was "Renegade is boring because it doesn't go upside-down." What's wrong with saying that? If an enthusiast said a ride was boring because it had no airtime nobody would complain... some people like to go upside-down. I don't get why other people not liking a ride that you like and talking about that with the people they're with can be a "downside: to your day. I'll never understand this. It's a hobby that's meant to be fun, and everyone likes different things. Great photos BTW.
