Faarup Sommerland photo report. Around 200 photos.

Recommended Posts

Okay, here are the photos from the other park I visited during my Denmark vacation a few weeks ago.

It will be a massive report, so I will split it up in different parts.

1.thumb.JPG.7e391d560bd5a6c58f5e73fd51acb633.JPG

Welcome to Faarup Sommerland!

2.thumb.JPG.44963bf7bfda4703754b9656f270347c.JPG

I'll cut the bullcrap, since I know what pictures everybody wants. Here is Orkanen, new for 2013.

3.thumb.JPG.7c77fd044f9fe475afc521503e11f774.JPG

It has a lift hill.

4.thumb.JPG.595896db1f9db8257335c7e3adc60aff.JPG

A rather good looking one.

5.thumb.JPG.270caa4892f0e7a892ceaf885de0a5de.JPG

And also a good looking train.

6.thumb.JPG.77417aa6765b4fe02f7bfe2ea158144f.JPG

It has a few intense helixes.

7.thumb.JPG.0956f7b4e5d47dd6e4177421022f1fcc.JPG

And a very photogenic under water part.

8.thumb.JPG.7c7b78a5dc56188169e1cd616e138dd6.JPG

The overbank is pure awesomeness.

9.thumb.JPG.46c2ea27fb575e34c6e22216d9ff3ba9.JPG

As I said, very photogenic.

10.thumb.JPG.bfdd905c85f9539e95fc7012368d20e1.JPG

Take the tunnel!

11.thumb.JPG.6a0eeb0ff4f08ae9d8c8c7e1fe621611.JPG

This part gives a great sensation of speed.

12.thumb.JPG.cb6bfa2c7a610df20b190d5436f9ab7e.JPG

How about a support alley?

13.thumb.JPG.aeb0a8875f8d1c2b9262f377f814a79b.JPG

Pure awesomeness!

14.thumb.JPG.8333389c90099ecba44b14fde97fd1f6.JPG

It's one of the most photogenic rides I've seen.

15.thumb.JPG.767157279003d64a8b3458e7ede0628a.JPG

Here comes the train.

16.thumb.JPG.594b7963c4aada2a330b20df2a8dac4b.JPG

The entrance walkway goes straight through the lake.

17.thumb.JPG.f4b6c258c92fb5dfcbe44f454e56dc86.JPG

This is what Johanna does when I take photos.

18.thumb.JPG.ca8cfeecc23c871dbd9a2648cfa8ef75.JPG

This is as far as you can go, without entering the ride.

19.thumb.JPG.c47099a93ebcc9bc9bb9b0c0230f049a.JPG

The themening is GREAT on Orkanen.

20.thumb.JPG.5aa50c08f48047c3305ca4689d148fa3.JPG

It is all very well done.

21.thumb.JPG.1ee63a45db196cb125fa895ac44c1e40.JPG

First drop fun.

Here's where the main queue starts.

25.thumb.JPG.6a11a0087025be2eeee8305b30d2ad19.JPG

The broken power lines adds to the atmosphere of disaster.

26.thumb.JPG.6b05eb11eb767c7c6c31bad5e12bc5ae.JPG

Another train (actually it's just the one train).

27.thumb.JPG.89f2f63edd62f715ba34bfe370547c46.JPG

Final turn into the station, along with more themening.

32.thumb.JPG.358b8226dfce19c33905b509fad68e5b.JPG

Just as Djurs Sommerland, this park is very green.

33.thumb.JPG.41b4812ca60086e9d06cf03e48293205.JPG

Here's the parks kiddie credit, a regular Zamperla children's coaster.

34.thumb.JPG.8af7afa102789d499df99c87f9cadc35.JPG

Helix.

35.thumb.JPG.cba871314d170d2b9e775642976e9810.JPG

Good looking station building.

36.thumb.JPG.f69622b31a10906446c9a2b6d050b062.JPG

It had kind of a bumpy brake.

37.thumb.JPG.c077ccf1791c452fcc7e74e4b4432276.JPG

A mini drop tower was next to it.

38.thumb.JPG.3291c1b0ce9f724e1b07331191132474.JPG

Regular sommerland activity.

39.thumb.JPG.d69bdba7aa589230fb9c294275bef9fc.JPG

The train track.

40.thumb.JPG.ce4a390a044db7c4e6719007a35b2317.JPG

Absolutely nothing to see here, move along, move along.

42.thumb.JPG.cb963142a6d2cf11cc0af0fd293418b3.JPG

This one on the other hand, you don't want to miss.

43.thumb.JPG.13bacda99db23d5f2bacc9d5d4630246.JPG

Yes, here is Lynet (which means lightening).

44.thumb.JPG.111369d897cdfc5f4e2180b0793cb4f8.JPG

Here is the station.

45.thumb.JPG.805603fd7da5f7a8bc4285488a52e96b.JPG

It is very well done.

46.thumb.JPG.7971c951d3e095b4a25be79c8c29db9f.JPG

Here is the ending.

47.thumb.JPG.2de7cde1515d8aa4c526fc2ad97f74b3.JPG

This is one of the best coaster that Gerstlauer has ever made.

48.thumb.JPG.62dc4f75a71cdbe1fd17c2ab5904faef.JPG

It has ejector on an Intamin level.

49.thumb.JPG.d718d996f5eb493cfddb21ceeb14aefb.JPG

It has diving.

50.thumb.JPG.dded4a5f4568263bb87e57c66bc5ea78.JPG

A totally kick ass top hat, that the train does not crawl over, like most top hats.

51.thumb.JPG.1e64faf4e62758b3cee96e791ec77090.JPG

Corkscrew.

52.thumb.JPG.49d03f5820fe3267746c3b7bf89ede1c.JPG

Zero-g-roll.

53.thumb.JPG.648b3cc8803f13eeedb623a7649002e6.JPG

And a really awesome launch, with some great punch in it.

54.thumb.JPG.9d196302ab1608f9e4cc12857dd9419c.JPG

Add to this that the ride is very smooth, and you have a winner, that would fit in at 90% of the world's parks.

55.thumb.JPG.5eed107d6c2d78b7cd19ac39bf2854ed.JPG

I much prefer the 6-person car, to the regular Eurofighter cars. Every time I rode Lynet this time, I could not help but wonder what went so wrong with Huracan at Belantis, that I rode this fall. That ride was so horrible, yet this one is so awesome.

56.thumb.JPG.ec34ab747420a78a7ca3c01245813a9c.JPG

Here is the parks oldest coaster, a standard Vekoma 335m model. It is extremely hidden in the forrest, you can barley see anything of it.

57.thumb.JPG.97898d64d79508b61f5438ead05b3783.JPG

See what I mean?

58.thumb.JPG.1b43162e614cde536249836c0fa7ff5c.JPG

These rides are always great, for a family coaster. You always know what you are gonna get.

59.thumb.JPG.b772e8c5e7ae9b1ef19410712d140f08.JPG

It has some great themening.

60.thumb.JPG.3c8c08abf930042384c6960f02400da3.JPG

Let's keep walking in the park.

61.thumb.JPG.e02a12308f9fa5f79817383c2bf13d6c.JPG

These are standard sommerland activities.

62.thumb.JPG.d461adb0b8ee4dadb869c1427cd2e256.JPG

So is this.

63.thumb.JPG.8d339e886ce6d830c03146230415c384.JPG

And big playgrounds of course.

64.thumb.JPG.2340f3a4aa51d5103450beecc96a16af.JPG

These were fun.

65.thumb.JPG.cba5b694c47c9ba8b6dfd0601cb8ab50.JPG

The park was packed this day. Fortunately for us, it was all families with small children, so the rides were not so packed as one would think.

66.thumb.JPG.4a37749a87e8eafd92c8c96fed819c86.JPG

Children's ride.

67.thumb.JPG.547f168a519d9480268d6601869e420d.JPG

Central lake.

68.thumb.JPG.b08c7db4358dcc52e85962d459ed9224.JPG

Nice and green.

69.thumb.JPG.a838eb58cbe6bc1d3833591737a1f327.JPG

And the other way.

70.thumb.JPG.909df4282d91bb0387779342b0fe4ed6.JPG

High quality all you can eat buffet.

71.thumb.JPG.8ee41036353eb5aa5865ed91e3ddfcb9.JPG

Here is the parks flume ride. It's the same model as the one at Djurs Sommerland, minus all the themening, which make this one pretty ugly.

72.thumb.JPG.04a0e2d5fba538d31887288894e3c583.JPG

It still has some great splashes though.

73.thumb.JPG.f3d4cc2afdeb6884f4d0b6be629e5fd1.JPG

Three hills, three splashes.

74.thumb.JPG.a5613b69e94ac742a29f9ad6a71a9ee6.JPG

The main splash area.

75.thumb.JPG.9793a408de3d4825f853298ad2eee98a.JPG

Let's do the parks rapids ride.

76.thumb.JPG.dd1e1bbfd9e029b28d02307d70f0e5d7.JPG

It was a good one.

77.thumb.JPG.3b7424d03a169942d263354287ef9b64.JPG

It has this skull rock, with smoke coming out from the eyes. Awesome? Totally!

78.thumb.JPG.44fa97de7647ff09fe7df7c78c3801c9.JPG

If unlucky, one could get very wet.

80.thumb.JPG.f52da634ef39a2e6906a60be0873c0aa.JPG

And there was a line to get of.

81.thumb.JPG.a20fe5cd79f9163cd69c2cf61c24891f.JPG

Happy people (I hope at least).

82.thumb.JPG.dc99c03af16bdb4ea93c9263ad7d5dbf.JPG

Here's the big ship in the lake. It's part of the action course, but that will be in part two.

83.thumb.JPG.831fc53c5718351ed51358efec398330.JPG

More boats that you could enjoy.

84.thumb.JPG.a4358e290271c77e1ad5ac25f7b2a11f.JPG

The park also offered mini golf.

85.thumb.JPG.a182a1474d2a468e6f52706c70591045.JPG

Airplane carousel.

86.thumb.JPG.a87fa4c38135753b0322de5682d878ec.JPG

Old style carousel.

87.thumb.JPG.af7bfc9d66ab7bb130d295587e465e9a.JPG

Spinning tea cups, themed to wood.

88.thumb.JPG.c25536a9faeaaaeacb9838902b731d4c.JPG

And a Zamperla spinning ship, also wooden themed.

89.thumb.JPG.0cc920a4d09664186659e355c69ae34d.JPG

Here's the station for the Vekoma family coaster. Very well hidden in the forrest, and it actually took some time before we found it.

90.thumb.JPG.a7c002c68dbbf88d1a444c1ef9c958e1.JPG

Unlike Djurs Sommerland, the trampolines at Faarup are above ground. I much prefer the way Djurs has theirs.

91.thumb.JPG.b1a3b6f9c75859c819610ebd6fa5cb06.JPG

More playgrounds.

92.thumb.JPG.4de7e734722a8f51711ed90a26091ba8.JPG

Here's the spinning credit again.

93.thumb.JPG.d473961fda5bc7acfaf4016d4a9c762b.JPG

The whole ride is just ugly. With how well all the other coasters are made at Faarup, I really think it's time for this eyesore to go.

94.thumb.JPG.2570819767211fadc84624f2042ba59a.JPG

It did however had some decent spinning, unlike the other ones of this model.

95.thumb.JPG.2432161c5e29c862e9dd55691c238367.JPG

And that finishes part one. More coming soon!

I'll start working on part 2 right away.

Edit: sorry about the picture of the wooden tea cups.

63.thumb.JPG.a05e283bfd71e4e98ce53d9a009a6f3f.JPG

Getting back to where the course started.

64.thumb.JPG.b088abdd6d64d1ec77e88ac41f67917e.JPG

But it's far from over.

65.thumb.JPG.936ed5652eecf05a0ee5776c1b772501.JPG

Wood turned into net.

66.thumb.JPG.fda6936e6ced102796ffba5a3fed6d23.JPG

That turned into a log.

67.thumb.JPG.7ed9a278099626615e03f71cce89b118.JPG

Some more log.

68.thumb.JPG.d3203d2546e930212d4a809f6ee6226b.JPG

Down here we go.

69.thumb.JPG.d1e5d278610e28c1d6a6f8237245be41.JPG

And then down through the net.

70.thumb.JPG.48d4bdfeb3c21f82ea7fe40c543fbf77.JPG

And then another one.

71.thumb.JPG.73c516d01e9d66c3e1b238aa8e998ba0.JPG

Some more planks up in the air.

72.thumb.JPG.806d918a81268c04376333b327aedfe0.JPG

And down we go.

73.thumb.JPG.4c415f69b6ac1854c9b8d557ce6ab725.JPG

And were finished! Out through the gift shop. It's one serious workout, and among the most fun you can have!!

74.thumb.JPG.1a222976d6eeecd33c1225915a1387db.JPG

Let's look at the water park. Here's a wave pool, that were decent.

75.thumb.JPG.5a6d7712df4ecb2ca210e1d164bed609.JPG

It had a small kid's section to it, with this ship and some smaller waves. Really cool thing.

76.thumb.JPG.bdc1878dfd473fa6c3a13714d46e5211.JPG

In 2011 they expanded with this 3.person family raft from Whitewater.

77.thumb.JPG.9de57a027efacfc61a84aba3a24c96d0.JPG

It had a lot of direction changes.

78.thumb.JPG.536c99cc9c8cc91c8396b15c12996a1e.JPG

A cool drop at the end.

79.thumb.JPG.77b4efed758846bc6d8d73d408d97502.JPG

It was just a really good solid slide.

80.thumb.JPG.31316e225799545f05173e7430965837.JPG

Also new in 2011 was this Whitewater play structure.

81.thumb.JPG.97f8deface031a14f05f2f4cda14959b.JPG

Splash! The one at Djurs is bigger, but this one has better features, smoother slides and most importantly the water is at a tolerable temperature.

82.thumb.JPG.562234d65ec6e6d18fb3ddd7ce6153c2.JPG

The slides are also smaller than Djurs, but it doesn't matter, they are fun anyway.

83.thumb.JPG.5ef848567803f12c4d881b923609824a.JPG

These are always fun for the small ones.

84.thumb.JPG.36a0d69a1bcc0b0441a329beac8608c6.JPG

Some climbing net.

85.thumb.JPG.0e3fa146d0818daa3aae09bfcf6a3653.JPG

More slides.

86.thumb.JPG.2aff1a35af5eccdbd0bb50119ee73108.JPG

The park also has 3 awesome concrete slides, that run down a hill.

87.thumb.JPG.e77be5ef7d77fcf9a070d81e7b14af37.JPG

They are so awesome, and at the same time so dangerous.

88.thumb.JPG.eedc66ab0a1ebdbcffbb5bfa1192aaff.JPG

Just look at those kinks.

89.thumb.JPG.8e5f2603d47eaa6518dc977853e69d61.JPG

More concrete rafting.

90.thumb.JPG.298164f5eca0aff18b19232f19c88692.JPG

And even more.

91.thumb.JPG.950d393b70e566ad9d03fce52a5c9671.JPG

This picture I am very pleased with.

92.thumb.JPG.25c68f2fbaab969d1956da5df7526bf0.JPG

Someone having fun!

93.thumb.JPG.f57af248a14271559d32657a80c10709.JPG

Kid's zone.

94.thumb.JPG.3c37c11f4d438c688058c9f1085803a4.JPG

They also have one of the first tube bowls from Polin.

95.thumb.JPG.fb0a93ffbd46fd8bc7e04a4a0d0a59f8.JPG

The only thing that I didn't like with this one is that the pipe has a different color than the bowl (translucent vs solid color). Otherwise it was really funny.

96.thumb.JPG.59d368641c1d639d30755c7ca04fc9d8.JPG

They also had a homemade mat racer. Same as Skara Sommarland had, before they replace it with an awesome Proslide Pro Racer.

97.thumb.JPG.7dd56e23d0cf29d25e5f7e7cf52ae4ad.JPG

Hopefully Faarup will do the same replacement here soon.

98.thumb.JPG.5f08a6dbc084b94c93c717044e344e20.JPG

Old, uncomfortable body slide, that needs to be replaced.

99.thumb.JPG.b1cc3d85fda0d158a869c858aef976c7.JPG

And I end this part with some people having fun!

There will be a small third part as well.

Just give me an hour.

You didn't think I forgot about Faarup's first star, did you?

Here's the first drop on this perfect family woodie.

Here's the small bunny hills.

The whole ride from the outside. It's such a perfect family ride.

Weeeh.

The last helix of the ride.

12.thumb.JPG.a97e691701a0de69fcdc590d3b240e91.JPG

Since the weather was pretty cloudy in the morning when I took all my photos of Orkanen, I decided to take a few more before I leave.

13.thumb.JPG.c54a1206ca3790b708cb3c2b28b87d05.JPG

It's such a good looking ride.

14.thumb.JPG.cb27fef4ccb0ba40032b9d311cbb56c8.JPG

Or what do you think?

15.thumb.JPG.10d06d9098d6a2bb1ce95aa5cd0d5d4a.JPG

The really awesome overbank.

16.thumb.JPG.357f47900f5855f36ae687c3fcdf4eed.JPG

And a just as awesome helix.

17.thumb.JPG.c249249e0a375d6a5546b6d138fec066.JPG

The final turn into the station. All the track joints had this filler on them, that had not yet been painted blue.

18.thumb.JPG.71bf2998252d176010de126fb8fabb53.JPG

Speed hill above the station.

19.thumb.JPG.11d70a5898d22fb325524b8e469c9b4f.JPG

The ride has some improvements compared to Kvasten. One thing is the hydraulic restraints, without the seat belts between them and the seat. Now the only thing the operators has to do is to make a visual check to see if they are down enough, otherwise just push it down enough.

It was great for capacity, and the crew was extremely effective. It felt like they sent out the train after just 30 seconds (obviously it was more, but it felt like it). This is great on a single train ride.

20.thumb.JPG.9debe1d3f581a1c417be672600724bdb.JPG

Another improvement is the magnetic brake system, making the ride come to a nice and smooth stop.

21.thumb.JPG.2011507b725e507543001738ce298c7e.JPG

Let's have a look at Lynet from the outside, such a perfect coaster.

22.thumb.JPG.0d9a767df72c85687940933abe1841e4.JPG

And with that I leave you with a photo of the park's exit road.

So which park wins best new coaster in Denmark for 2013?

It's a really hard call to make, since it's pretty much a tie.

Both parks has gone above and beyond with their new rides.

Djurs have invested in a family thrill ride, while Faarup opted for a family ride.

Both rides are of the highest quality available, and they are very well thought through. For us enthusiasts Juvelen is the given choice, but Orkanen is just as awesome, just a level below in intensity.

Djurs opted for more themening on their ride, while Faarup opted for a more visual appealing ride, with two below the water tunnels.

Just because Djurs has more themening dosen't mean that the themening on Orkanen is not good. Just because Orkanen looks better than Juvelen dosen't mean that Juvelen is not good looking.

As I said, both are amazing rides, and both parks have winners, that were extremely well appreciated by the guests.

If you have the chance to ride them, go for it.

I really hope that you have enjoyed these photos, and please leave a comment.

It will be some time before I do a 200 photos report again.

Wow, I had no idea that Fårup was this awesome! Thank you for this great TR, I really enjoyed it! Especially the obstacle course blew me away. I have done a few but although short, I like them all, but Fårup really takes it to another level. And the waterpark looks way cool too! AND it even has multiple great rides! This TR really put Fårup to my bucket list

Looks like 2014 will have a Liseberg-Fårup combo-trip with my name on it

Great Report!

Sadly can't get to these two this year but will do next June. As I already want to do TusenFryd and Liseberg - Helix YAYYYYY - I'll add a ferry to Frederikshavn and go from there by rental car to Djurs and Faarup before returning to Germany.

Farup Sommerland continues to sit at the top of my European must-do park list along with Liseberg, Europa Park, Toverland and Walibi Belgium. Thank you for sharing this awesome trip report with us so I can continue to dream about making it over to this park eventually!
