Faarup Sommerland photo report. Around 200 photos.

Okay, here are the photos from the other park I visited during my Denmark vacation a few weeks ago.

 

It will be a massive report, so I will split it up in different parts.

 

Welcome to Faarup Sommerland!

I'll cut the bullcrap, since I know what pictures everybody wants. Here is Orkanen, new for 2013.

It has a lift hill.

A rather good looking one.

And also a good looking train.

It has a few intense helixes.

And a very photogenic under water part.

The overbank is pure awesomeness.

As I said, very photogenic.

This part gives a great sensation of speed.

How about a support alley?

Pure awesomeness!

It's one of the most photogenic rides I've seen.

Here comes the train.

The entrance walkway goes straight through the lake.

This is what Johanna does when I take photos.

This is as far as you can go, without entering the ride.

The themening is GREAT on Orkanen.

It is all very well done.

First drop fun.

Fast helix.

Airtimeless speed hump.

Here's where the main queue starts.

The broken power lines adds to the atmosphere of disaster.

Another train (actually it's just the one train).

Final turn into the station, along with more themening.

A sunken sailboat.

The lift hill again.

The overbank again.

Looking back from the queue on the world's best Vekoma invert. (I have not been on Jubilee Odyssey yet).

Just as Djurs Sommerland, this park is very green.

Here's the parks kiddie credit, a regular Zamperla children's coaster.

Helix.

Good looking station building.

It had kind of a bumpy brake.

A mini drop tower was next to it.

Regular sommerland activity.

The train track.

Absolutely nothing to see here, move along, move along.

This one on the other hand, you don't want to miss.

Yes, here is Lynet (which means lightening).

Here is the station.

It is very well done.

Here is the ending.

This is one of the best coaster that Gerstlauer has ever made.

It has ejector on an Intamin level.

It has diving.

A totally kick ass top hat, that the train does not crawl over, like most top hats.

Corkscrew.

Zero-g-roll.

And a really awesome launch, with some great punch in it.

Add to this that the ride is very smooth, and you have a winner, that would fit in at 90% of the world's parks.

I much prefer the 6-person car, to the regular Eurofighter cars. Every time I rode Lynet this time, I could not help but wonder what went so wrong with Huracan at Belantis, that I rode this fall. That ride was so horrible, yet this one is so awesome.

Here is the parks oldest coaster, a standard Vekoma 335m model. It is extremely hidden in the forrest, you can barley see anything of it.

See what I mean?

These rides are always great, for a family coaster. You always know what you are gonna get.

It has some great themening.

Let's keep walking in the park.

These are standard sommerland activities.

So is this.

And big playgrounds of course.

These were fun.

The park was packed this day. Fortunately for us, it was all families with small children, so the rides were not so packed as one would think.

High quality all you can eat buffet.

Here is the parks flume ride. It's the same model as the one at Djurs Sommerland, minus all the themening, which make this one pretty ugly.

It still has some great splashes though.

Three hills, three splashes.

Let's do the parks rapids ride.

It was a good one.

It has this skull rock, with smoke coming out from the eyes. Awesome? Totally!

If unlucky, one could get very wet.

 

And there was a line to get of.

Happy people (I hope at least).

Here's the big ship in the lake. It's part of the action course, but that will be in part two.

More boats that you could enjoy.

The park also offered mini golf.

Airplane carousel.

Old style carousel.

Spinning tea cups, themed to wood.

And a Zamperla spinning ship, also wooden themed.

Here's the station for the Vekoma family coaster. Very well hidden in the forrest, and it actually took some time before we found it.

Unlike Djurs Sommerland, the trampolines at Faarup are above ground. I much prefer the way Djurs has theirs.

The whole ride is just ugly. With how well all the other coasters are made at Faarup, I really think it's time for this eyesore to go.

It did however had some decent spinning, unlike the other ones of this model.

Keep in mind that the action course POV were taken in action.

Some pictures might be a bit bad because of this, but all in all I think most of them turned out well.

Okay, let's have a look at the parks action course

First thing you have to do, is find your way through this labyrinth.

Then it is up.

And over Lynet's entrance.

Down the slide.

Weeeh!

Over here.

Then some climbing.

And then over here.

These bouncers were fun!

Then some more climbing.

And then climbing down.

More climbing waits.

And then some more climbing. It's a good thing that climbing is fun!

Then down the slide.

Then over these.

Over the bridge.

Then through the tunnels.

And then it is the famous river crossing.

Johanna opted for the chicken road.

This wasn't so hard, but the rails were REALLY slippery, I almost got a bath!

This picture is good, because you can't see that half a second later i soaked my foot. You really gotta be fast over those.

By this time we are out by the parks central lake.

This bridge leads out to the pirate ship.

There we will need to go up one floor.

Were this guy waits.

A little later you will run in to these two.

Out on the deck.

And here we leave the ship.

By boat.

Almost there.

After waits this insane dark water filled tunnel, where you will have to walk on rocks.

If one person failed, then all went down, as seen here.

Here are some funny rubber bridges you have to cross.

Getting back to where the course started.

But it's far from over.

Wood turned into net.

That turned into a log.

Some more log.

Down here we go.

And then down through the net.

And then another one.

Some more planks up in the air.

And down we go.

And were finished! Out through the gift shop. It's one serious workout, and among the most fun you can have!!

Let's look at the water park. Here's a wave pool, that were decent.

It had a small kid's section to it, with this ship and some smaller waves. Really cool thing.

In 2011 they expanded with this 3.person family raft from Whitewater.

It had a lot of direction changes.

A cool drop at the end.

It was just a really good solid slide.

Also new in 2011 was this Whitewater play structure.

Splash! The one at Djurs is bigger, but this one has better features, smoother slides and most importantly the water is at a tolerable temperature.

The slides are also smaller than Djurs, but it doesn't matter, they are fun anyway.

These are always fun for the small ones.

The park also has 3 awesome concrete slides, that run down a hill.

They are so awesome, and at the same time so dangerous.

Just look at those kinks.

They also have one of the first tube bowls from Polin.

The only thing that I didn't like with this one is that the pipe has a different color than the bowl (translucent vs solid color). Otherwise it was really funny.

They also had a homemade mat racer. Same as Skara Sommarland had, before they replace it with an awesome Proslide Pro Racer.

Hopefully Faarup will do the same replacement here soon.

Since the weather was pretty cloudy in the morning when I took all my photos of Orkanen, I decided to take a few more before I leave.

It's such a good looking ride.

Or what do you think?

The really awesome overbank.

And a just as awesome helix.

The final turn into the station. All the track joints had this filler on them, that had not yet been painted blue.

The ride has some improvements compared to Kvasten. One thing is the hydraulic restraints, without the seat belts between them and the seat. Now the only thing the operators has to do is to make a visual check to see if they are down enough, otherwise just push it down enough.

 

It was great for capacity, and the crew was extremely effective. It felt like they sent out the train after just 30 seconds (obviously it was more, but it felt like it). This is great on a single train ride.

Another improvement is the magnetic brake system, making the ride come to a nice and smooth stop.

So which park wins best new coaster in Denmark for 2013?

It's a really hard call to make, since it's pretty much a tie.

 

Both parks has gone above and beyond with their new rides.

Djurs have invested in a family thrill ride, while Faarup opted for a family ride.

 

Both rides are of the highest quality available, and they are very well thought through. For us enthusiasts Juvelen is the given choice, but Orkanen is just as awesome, just a level below in intensity.

 

Djurs opted for more themening on their ride, while Faarup opted for a more visual appealing ride, with two below the water tunnels.

Just because Djurs has more themening dosen't mean that the themening on Orkanen is not good. Just because Orkanen looks better than Juvelen dosen't mean that Juvelen is not good looking.

 

As I said, both are amazing rides, and both parks have winners, that were extremely well appreciated by the guests.

If you have the chance to ride them, go for it.

Wow, I had no idea that Fårup was this awesome! Thank you for this great TR, I really enjoyed it! Especially the obstacle course blew me away. I have done a few but although short, I like them all, but Fårup really takes it to another level. And the waterpark looks way cool too! AND it even has multiple great rides! This TR really put Fårup to my bucket list

 

Looks like 2014 will have a Liseberg-Fårup combo-trip with my name on it

Sadly can't get to these two this year but will do next June. As I already want to do TusenFryd and Liseberg - Helix YAYYYYY - I'll add a ferry to Frederikshavn and go from there by rental car to Djurs and Faarup before returning to Germany.

Great report. The park looks nice, but that parkour is aaesome!

Great photo TR! I've been thinking, are there any American parks with playgrounds in them?

Farup Sommerland continues to sit at the top of my European must-do park list along with Liseberg, Europa Park, Toverland and Walibi Belgium. Thank you for sharing this awesome trip report with us so I can continue to dream about making it over to this park eventually!
