So, just before I start "Show & Telling" all about the SOUVENIRS
I got on the tour next week - and yes Chuck, I outdid myself on
this one - here's a few last photos of the tour, that David took,
and I liked.

~ The Souvenirs Haul ~ (Part 1...)

Never let it be said that I try to "hold back" when it comes to finding
and buying souvenir items in a TPR Tour. Some times I actually don't find much
to buy (true!), and then there's those other times.....

The majority of all this stuff is (naturally) from the Tokyo Disney Resort, but
there are some things I got here and there, from the Sapporo parks... and Fuji-Q.

The "meat cow capsule machine" was found again at Cosmoworld. And I actually got
a non-DIsney music CD from Fuji-Q, although I would call it a more dance music
type CD. But the park's logo was on it, and that was good enough for me, LOL!

Coffee mugs, mini-mugs, a few pins, and other stuff I knew I couldn't live without,
of course. Like a (cat) hair remover roller with Chandu on it, from Sindbad's Voyages.
Or a nice washcloth from Fuji-Q with Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel on it - with the Fuji-Q
logo right there on the bottom of it! Lots of stuff.

So, here we go....

For starters I got this lovely foldable paper 'globe' gift from Kathryn and Michael (and Maria) from Australia. (Kathryn and I sort of trade waterglobes back and forth, lol.) And a neat little wind up mailman, who looks like is giving me the finger! We'll get that fixed by the end of this....

Lots here: most interesting (to me) was the themed bottle of Coke in it's own paper container; the Chandu hair removal roller - his tail is the handle, heh; candies and candy holders from Pooh; coffee packets from Disney; and a neat little Eye Scream trinket box Lauren gave me at one of the Sapporo parks - Thanks Lauren!

~ Capsule Machine Stuff! ~

So most of us all know there is a LOT of capsule machines in Japan.
You really can't avoid them. In some bathrooms and even mall shops.
And of course, in a number of the parks we visited.

I got myself another "meat animal" at Cosmoworld - sadly, a sheep.
Want to get that cow, heh heh. Several of us picked up this neat
flashlight-like thing that projected a typical Japanese Horror image
on the wall. Very cool. And I picked a couple of the "food things",
the details of which were equally as amazing as the plastic
foods, restaurants buy for their front display case. And cheaper too!

Here's what i got...

~ More Stuff... With "a Bit of" Disney mixed in. ~

Like I said before, there were coffee mugs to get; small souvenir
cups to enjoy as a 'freebie' sometimes with a food purchase; a few
pins from here and there; stuff.

I always try to keep in mind, when I go for souvenirs, that for the
most part, i want them to be practical and not just gathering
dust, like some of them (capsule things) will do anyway, lol.

In any case, here's some more of what i picked up along the tour....
Attachments
Resize of IMG_3073.JPG
The coffee mugs; plastic 'glassware' (and a Real Glass shotglass); some small mini-mugs - mostly from Disney, but Thomas Train (middle) was from Fuji-Q. And the coaster on the right is from Hokkaido, which supplies a really big world of...Onions!

Resize of IMG_3074.JPG
Mostly pins, mostly (again) Disney. With a Rusutsu Resort pin (bottom left); a cute bear on Hokkaido fridge magnet (top left); and a Sea Paradise combo fridge magnet free-standing in-station photo! (whew...middle right).

Resize of IMG_3086.JPG
Figure stuff... including a bottle topper with Daisy and Donald holding my straw; a Special Edition Vinylmation Mickey (of three I remember); small figs from PoTC; put-together Winnie!

On-ride/attraction Photos.

And a few theme park music CDs. 4 are Disney, but the one in the middle is from Fuji-Q! Mainly a dance cd, but the cover's got coaster track on it, there's the Fuji-Q Logo on it...and it's called JETCOASTER! And it's pretty good to listen to, actually.

Souvenirs - and All Disney!

So, after all of what I have shown here, there's still a few items
that are strictly Tokyo Disney Resort, and the 30th Anniversary of the
resort itself, which is really cool. And I bought the theme
from cups to popcorn! :mickey:

We brought these back to the people who were kind enough to put up with Her Majesty (Stella) for nearly three weeks. She behaved, whew! Chocolates in the tin boxes, Pluto on a hamburger I am still trying to figure out, lol!

I got an extra CD for one of the other tour peeps who: saw the show at TDS; loved it; wanted the CD; couldn't find it; and I did! Actually a great listen to, even if you haven't ever seen the show itself. Hope you're enjoying it, Keith! (o;

This is The Hat of The Celebration! Local Tokyo Disney visitors don't seem to go for the original ears-on-a-cap, believe it! This is The Only Magic Kingdom that does not sell the traditional 'ears'! <shock> So they put ears on headbands and these awesome HUMONGUS hats. Natch, I bought this one.

And then there's those Four CDs! Clockwise from upper left, all around the Fuji-Q one...complete Tokyo Disney Sea park soundtracks; 30th (and earlier) Anniversary songs; 30th Anny theme song, (sung many ways), "Happiness Is Here"; soundtrack of the (still) new Fantasmic!

~ So, This Is (near) The End, My Friends ~

So, after all of that, the constant question I get asked by the people I do TPR tours with...
"Where the heck do you put it all, year after year, tour after tour?"

The short answer is, we have a great big house and I thank the timing in our getting
it, to have it now in these economic unbalanced (sometimes) times.

And as I have said before, I try to look for souvenirs that are practical and 'useable'
in some way or function. There will always be the "dust collectors" (Capsule Machines!),
but I do my best to make sure it all fits here, somehow.

So, here's where some of the stuff has gone...

Two other things I forgot to post!

One was a shot of the night light pendants I picked up
at Tokyo Disney Resort. Three of them were for the current
30th Anniversary of the Resort, the other was just a
"flashing Mickey", heh. The two Big Ear Ones had different
music 'sounds' as well as several Mickey expressions,
when you pressed one of the buttons on them.
Silly, but fun at the time.

And I took a video of them flashing (jamming?) away,
along with a few other night lights I had bought, before.
At Disney.

Enjoy. And sorry the sound isn't all that great. I'm still learning.

So a Few Final Thoughts Etc. on this Japan Tour...

THANKS go out to Robb and Elissa for again making Japan
be all the more different, on my third go with them. HUGS!

LOVE TO David, my partner of 41 years, for allowing me to
FINALLY talk him into a TPR Tour, lol! And it was always going
to be one to Japan, anyway. I think we had a really great
time over there, and certainly enjoy some new experiences
together (all you can eat bbq!). Hugs and :lover: to you.

AWESOME to tour with people I knew, and others I enjoyed
meeting and touring with, first time. It was great to tour
with all of you.

Japan is what it is, calm and serene in one setting, then
absolutely WTF in another. Riding coasters that probably
wouldn't make it past US Standards; checking out totally
cool and cheesy dark rides, fun houses, MIRROR mazes!
Always stuff that's new to discover.... or walk into!

And once again - if ANY one of you out there is even considering
an overseas TPR Tour, DO IT! Start saving up now and in a year
or so... you too can be stuck in a 3 hour line at Fuji-Q Highland Park...

Awesome. Thanks for reading my report. Next year for me - Scandi. :airtime:

CoasterFEV wrote:If the "any train/transport with more than 1 station must be charged/taxed" rule is applicable - then why does the Tokyo DisneySea Electric Railway have 2 stations and why is it free?

I think I have the answer, based on translating the DisneySea Electric Railway's Japanese-language Wikipedia article (no English version exists, atm): in 1983, Japanese rail regulations required that any railroad, even amusement park railroads, must be treated like conventional railroads if they have more than one stop/station. If they have more than one station, the operator is required, among other things, to charge fares to passengers and is forbidden to use open-sided passenger cars. To avoid these types of things that would essentially "kill" the Western River Railroad in Tokyo Disneyland before it even opened, Oriental Land Company chose to have only one station for the railroad. Later, in 1987, Japanese rail regulations were relaxed, which allowed the DisneySea Electric Railway, opened in 2001, to have two stations and function as a normal amusement park railroad without having to charge fares. Side note: the Disney Resort Line (Tokyo Disney Resort's monorail), which also opened in 2001 and has four stations, requires a separate fare to ride, so it seems these Japanese rail regulations were only relaxed a little.
