kidcoaster 2
Better late than never but here is my trip report from Cedar Point when I went for the very last day of Disaster Transport on July 29th. I arrived shortly after 5 but was still able to get a good amount done even though it was pretty busy. Space Spiral x2 (No wait) Blue Streak (10 minute wait) Magnum x2 (30 minute wait) Mean Streak (No wait) Skyscraper Top Thrill Dragster (Hour wait) Diaster Transport x17 A couple notes - It seemed like they have already stopped taking care of Space Spiral as the windows were actually dirtier than normal. - Blue Streak was looking good with the fresh paint and is still running great. - Mean Streak is actually running good this year. - New haunt going in inside Mean Streak. - Luminosity area is a mess. - Skyscraper has had its cycle trimmed. - The park lets guests on the entire beach now. - Soak City looks great in its new paint. - Half of the Mini Golf is still closed. I ended up being 1st place winner in the Give Kids the World final dispatch event. Huge thanks to everyone who donated! Now onto the photos! Welcome to Cedar Point! As you can tell it was a busy day... Corkscrew doing its thing. Main Midway Pagoda and Space Spiral This will look very different very soon. I will miss seeing the 12 E looming over the midway. The line for Disaster Transport stayed at about 30 minutes most of the day. Nice to see the ride getting some love for its last day. First I rode Space Spiral since it will also be leaving soon. Sadly I never got the top floor credit This will look VERY different next year! The windows were very dirty, even more so than before. This looks to be my destination. The park put this neat banner infront of the enterance. It explains some of the history of the ride. And some of the changes the ride when through. Some Halloweekends history. Ramses anyone? I really think the biggest loss here is Happy Jacks it was one of my all time favorite haunts What I am here for. Mhm... what could it be? Ohh I'll be there! Next up Blue Streak! Looking good! Now lets go get a different look at Disaster Transport The Beach is really nice place to spend a part of the day. Evil creatures. The former "restricted Beach" Yes that is grass growing on the roof... Through the trees? Made my way to the back of the park to take a lap on Mean Streak... Yeah... Construction for Eden Musee Wax Museum Haunt. Back to Mean Streak which was running surprisingly good! The layout is still boring though. The Asylum Never seen the show but hopefully they work on the midway during the off season. The sun has gone down which means its time for the Final Mission to start! Sadly there wasn't good lighting for the event so my photos I took came out right. This will be hung up in Town Hall. For the ERT they let us walk through the back room to re ride. I had a geek moment when I seen the seat numbers from Avalanche Run Me and Todd before lap 13 Being let in for the very last time. To the launch pad one last time! Second to last train. Last train ever! You had a good run but all things must come to an end. Just shame we never made it to Alaska. Thanks for reading! Ed Farmer
Of the 7 or 8 times I've been to Cedar Point, the grand total of laps on Disaster Transport I have under my belt is 0.
shivtim
Thanks for the report! Avalanche Run was my first "adult" coaster, since it had a lower height limit than the bigger coasters at CP. I loved it and I think it was a big part of starting my roller coaster addiction.

That's a real shame, it was far from the worst coaster there.
ECZenith
I will actually miss DT quite a bit. It wasn't best coaster there, sure, but there is a shortage of indoor themed coasters out there. It was no Space Mountain but was still pretty cool. I'm sure Gatekeeper will ease my sorrows. Great photos! Blue Streak looks fantastic, I love love love Blue Streak! RoCo
Damn it, I'm getting all misty-eyed here... Very nice report, and thanks for the views from the beach! Merits of the ride aside, I'm always going to give Cedar Point, and ITEC, a ton of respect for the audacity of fully enclosing a bobsled coaster. Love it or hate it, there was nothing else like it, and probably never will be again. But I'll keep hoping that's wrong. Of the 7 or 8 times I've been to Cedar Point, the grand total of laps on Disaster Transport I have under my belt is 0. That's a real shame, it was far from the worst coaster there. FAR. Like, miles and miles away from the worst.
Mrlittle
Nice report, I always enjoyed Disaster Transport when I went. It's always sad to see any coaster go but of course the replacement looks very good. Also Blue Streak looks great with its new paint job.
Ace Of Spades
Great TR! I went to CP for the first time last summer, and I absolutely loved Disaster Transport! I don't know what it was about the ride, but it was just...very different in a cool way. As said above, it really was a truly one-of-a-kind ride, never to be done again (for good reasons, it must be said, but still.) I'm sad to see it go, although its replacement looks awe-inspiring on every level!
kidcoaster 2
Thanks for the comments everyone. I was looking through my photos and found some more that may or may not interest everyone. Starting off here is a photo from the offseason when I worked there. Here is an old overview. If you compare to the other overview I posted you can see they did some serious cleaning. Here is what was left of a section of the Queue after Happy Jacks took over. Behind that door was what you waited in 2010 till the end of its life. The rest are various photos from Happy Jacks which took over DT's queue in 2009. This is Dave he was an Icon for Disaster Transport in its early years. Seriously probably the best Haunt Cedar Point has ever done. The last photo is the floor plan for Happy Jacks. You could see where the ride when over the haunt. Chris Benvenuto
I've ridden up to 200 coasters to this date. I'm thrilled that DT was one of the first I ever got on, this ride helped me to conquer my fears of coasters growing up. Now that it's being removed - I am dearly thankful I got to ride it when I could despite the 15-30 minute waits I pushed through to ride. I managed to ride it a couple of times before it closed on July 10th. Disaster Transport may have been a cheesy ride towards the end of it's life, but, I am forever grateful of the memories it has given me over the past several years. dlawson24
Great Pictures. I was there that day and sad to have seen it go. But was glad to be part of it's last rides! Was 5th to last train. And was over thirlled to have been there. RIP to one unique ride, may another take your place!
