Shockwave
OK, so I heard that there was a funfair in Wythenshawe Park this week, which is only about 10 minutes from my house. The other side of the park is a rough estate which I tried my best to avoid. The park isn't the safest place to be going at night time, and I can't believe I escaped from the place alive. First I tried finding the park entrance, to no avail. All the the parks around the funfair were very dark, and I didn't fancy my chances. So I went round the other side to look for the entrance, which turned out even worse! It was darker, creepier and further away from the funfair, and I had to trapse through a field of mud to get there. When I finally got to the funfair, there were only a few rides worth going on. I took a few photos and left very quickly to see if my car had been broken into, stolen, or firebombed. Luckily it was still there, and I drove out of ghetto country into the safety of the suburbs. This has to go down as one of the stupidest things I've ever done. But I'm glad to say I got away with it. Apologies for the quality of some of these photos, but I was trying to stay alive! Thankyou, giant archway in the dark for keeping my car safe! I got back to the safe house without getting killed. And here's ghetto funfair in all its glory. This ride looked pretty cool. Not a clue what it does though! Argh! Static!!! Static!!! The Big Apple can move pretty fast when it wants. I know it's only a Pinfari Big Apple, I know I've ridden loads of these things, and I don't care! Holy crap, it's a credit! The Rotor was really good fun. The wedgie afterwards wasn't. Check out the kid in the wheel who fell over right on cue! Ski Jumps don't get much more "mini" than this! The photo is blurry because there are four gangstas in front of me, and I didn't like having my camera out. Insert your own caption here. Barracuda = Death! Blurry photos of spinning rides rule! OK, now here are some real rides. Elissa, they got some trampolines! Probably one of the best rides there. The day I start believing all that is the day I start playing these games. This Ghost Train has gotta be scary because you enter through Wesley Snipes' crotch! Here's Johnny! A couple of stops down from Effrum The Retarded Rabbit was this litte powered coaster. I don't count these as credits, so I didn't ride. Yay, let the copyright infringement and sweet sweet irony begin! Did I say it was a bit muddy? Well here's the proof. Ooh, how romantic! Good job it's free entry, all your money will probably get robbed before you even get there!

dandaman
Nice "Effrum the Retarded Rabbit" reference. Now all we need is some high-class British porn... now, I could ask you to supply, but you might find a loophole, and... ah... I just don't want to see that. Erik Johnson
Those captions were very funny. So is that area the worst section of your city?
Shockwave
Those captions were very funny. So is that area the worst section of your city? Fortunately for me, no it isn't. But it's the nearest "unfashionable" area to me. There are a few areas of the city that are a lot more undesirable.
Ed
Wythenshawe.... *shudder* Biggest council estate in England I believe. The fair looks.. Well pretty bog standard for something round here. Just be glad it wasn't in Moss Side.. There you would've had a gun pulled on you. Camera or no camera..
Nrthwnd
OOo what fun. Serious, glad you are okay. And made it out aliiiiiiiiivve. And - you wouldn't happen to have a full shot of that Ghost Train would you? I do get a kick out of those things that pass as a dark ride. I mean, the front facade of these things are usually more interesting than the "dark ride" itself, hmmm? Yes? Thought I'd ask. And thanks for sharing your TR. Alvey Robb, there's two fairs happening nearby when you are next around. One is on the other side of Manchester in Heaton Park, the other is out at Warrington just before you get to IKEA, and about 5 minutes from Gullivers Warrington. pgathriller
Nice trip report. I remember one time this ghetto parking lot carnival type thingy came. It had an old beat up Wisdom Avalanch ride as it's only thrill ride. I rode as many times as I wanted free because I told them about usedrides.com and brought them some things off there site. Anyway, they had that game where you have to pop a balloon with the darts and they talked my mom into playing. After every round she wanted to quit and the carnie kept talking her into playing again and she did. $55 later she quit and won a minature colored mushroom. While all this was happening I was laughing my ass off and after my mom got all pissed at me not getting her out of the game. It was so funny!!!
