Token Yankee Guy
Last night while I was talking to James (sfne_stinks) and he told me that you are allowed to walk through the former Mountain Park up in Holyoke, Massachusetts near Mt. Tom. So today after I finished being Mr. Fix-It at work, I had my Mom join me up to check out Mountain Park. We also decided to bring Xandra along. There's a lot of debris in the park since their was a fire in I believe the 90's or something. In the spring when the snow melts we'll go back up and explore it again since their was snow on the ground. But I did bring back a little mountain park memoralbila (or however it's spelled). A small padlock, with the key still intacted. Looks like someone forgot to make sure one of the games were fully locked up before the park closed. Overall it was a night little day trip. Looks to be the where some mountain flyer footings were A foundation More wreakage Inside Here's my mom, Xandra, and I walking towards the picnic hut. Entrance to Mountain Park Golf Course a rock overpass for what I believe was for the train ride. Not to sure what this was Here I am waiting to board a ride. Same foundation as the picture before, but taken in 1988 after the park closed. This was the foundation for the Tilt-A-Whirl. Picture from: defunctparks.com I didn't know what the foundation was this for. Until I checked defunctparks.com more stuff I believe this was the carousal house yeah... I'd like 5 tickets please...$3 bucks! that's an outrageous price I know there was a long line of buildings that were once here. I even found the old dark ride by finding part of the fiberglass wall Let's play the game here!...or ride it....? Or maybe it's a bathroom Mountain Flyer...I think, I know I saw a piece of the track. Another foundation A kiddie ride was once here One of two remaining buildings still standing more wreakage I believe this is where some games were since I spotted evidence of garage doors Looking up the midway Old ride foundation I believe Looking up to the park from the old parking lot The old sign for Mt. Tom. It's now an abandonded ski mountain, even though the highway still has signs for it. The road up to Mountain Park from Route US-5 in Holyoke

rollermonkey
I know someone who'd be pretty depressed by those pics. He worked at the park for @14 years, including as security after the closure. Sorry, Jay...
MrMorgan
thanks for the cool pics. isn't it wierd visiting defunct parks like that? i had the chance to visit idora when the jackrabbit and most of the wildcat were still standing, and it was so creepy! it's also sad to see everything just falling apart. Cerberus
Looks kinda like it was a perfectly good, operational park up until a couple moments ago when some big, phat avalanche came down the mountain and rolled it into mulch Nice of you to go there and report on it for us to check out. It is now your duty as a coaster fanatic to loot as much junk as possible, regardless of whether or not it looks like anything, then sell it on Ebay under the title "OMFGWTFBBQ rare old intamin track!!!!" Token Yankee Guy
^ I thought it was a fire that destroyed most of the buildings. And I already got a small padlock with the key inside. I'll loot the place more when the snow melts and I'm able to get around. I think I'll also bring a wrench..
Luxo
Wow, that looks alot like Dogpatch USA, the defunct park here in Arkansas. Except it is privately owned. Great pics!
socalMAN123
Wow, those are kinda creepy. I think it's always wierd looking at a park that has nothing left but metal. ---Brent
coasterdude5
Whoa, it'd be cool to see pics of it without the snow, but these were great! Creepy and sad, yet I still always like to look at them.
