Photo TR: Erik and Leanne go to Tampa

Recommended Posts

OK we just got back from an awesome trip to Tampa for Friday and Saturday. There are a lot of pictures as always so lets get on with it!

DSC02256.JPG.13d1601cdaa8948b734c65d51ab46880.JPG

The world's largest wooden structure.

DSC02253.JPG.312c61380cc6575a794c54d3f4377798.JPG

Unlike the Haunted Mansion, this hallway actually goes that far back.

DSC02222.JPG.ef2e6fd2e42bdfbc8665459aa98fbb90.JPG

WoW! This place looks swanky!

DSC02219.JPG.1657bc774d42f87e9e37227cbe00958d.JPG

I would love to move to Clearwater so I can go live on Belcher street.

DSC02216.JPG.a62ceea03630c34dedd40f0aaa03e29d.JPG

Yes, this is Tampa Bay.

DSC02214.JPG.a0c7efd4d905f639091a2c224aa005f5.JPG

Downtown Tampa.

DSC02213.JPG.b36dc540a83da436e612897f47a8ba4b.JPG

Now that SheiKra has been built, you can now see BGT from 275.

DSC02211.JPG.1ce29651280fbc90260ee3303896a2a0.JPG

Most of the time we go to the left, but for this trip we go right.

DSC02210.JPG.b5eda52e7fcb7a91671a6a58cbd520a8.JPG

These things look like fun to fly.

DSC02209.JPG.2f9df482c6378aee501db4722a475051.JPG

Not until Saturday.

DSC02208.JPG.028ef41578a6ebf7887904942c16e837.JPG

At least I beat David Carradine and Slyvester Stallone to these 2500 points.

DSC02203.JPG.277b3a04a5085decc8c01b91ef7cea77.JPG

Wild Waters sits right next door to the world famous, Silver Springs. (a lot like Cypress Gardens without the thrill rides.)

DSC02207.JPG.e653a7e9aa9c0c8d877bfefb36fadb74.JPG

Florida's version of The Silver Bullet.

DSC02202.JPG.be0104564094f992ebc5bb59a181e6c6.JPG

Though its only open late spring until Sept.

DSC02206.JPG.d8e3e3a608421645b13e2d0d85735e2d.JPG

Yes this is the Wild Waters, its about 40 miles from our house.

DSC02200.JPG.bf57e66eb0ee6f823410aa07c51604bd.JPG

This is where Six Gun Territory used to stand in Ocala (they had a credit!). Its called Six Gun Plaza now.

DSC02198.JPG.620cd86dd51f6dd3055e1ca6ccdadff9.JPG

At least Leanne got us some high quality food for lunch.

DSC02197.JPG.0c5d8509a3660e166e87692c704d5f2b.JPG

But as always, I got to do some work.

DSC02194.JPG.42d1777de895284382fb2798469ff972.JPG

We are off to Tampa!

DSC02323.JPG.c5bf2e0f6fc821e407a1017779a6006d.JPG

They had an entire other section for desserts.

Check out the date of this wine.

DSC02313.JPG.917b7b94968db810740e0029f3eddb3b.JPG

DSC02311.JPG.a7537ac14f9f3d8efd2fe4d7791c95b0.JPG

There was even wine above us.

DSC02310.JPG.92109d7068ee53af2ced9a023f08dc31.JPG

DSC02416.JPG.000b3e4c2a3024f9c29e8a6a588c1fc0.JPG

Bye bye Montu.

DSC02415.JPG.f47172171ee37b493e38bb112a215271.JPG

Make sure when you ride Montu that you sit in one of the back rows, its much better.

DSC02414.JPG.c0e6f8eb6a8427b2c69f57aeec0d4531.JPG

Yeah, coasters are cool!

DSC02412.JPG.3aa29b3f854aabb0b4191a57465c17d5.JPG

There was some slight stacking, but not too bad.

DSC02411.JPG.8d00f7d693ef3df976a8398ee91573ae.JPG

Even though the sign lied, this line only took 5 minutes. They were running three trains effeciently.

DSC02410.JPG.d97d66338823dcb50e36d5f23fc08e85.JPG

Cool a zero minute wait time.

DSC02406.JPG.72265456ca9a52ab29bd946558c6e026.JPG

Time to experience the terror of Montu.

DSC02405.JPG.3e8b269cbb1632ec22d6954ed2f75c1a.JPG

I guess I will never experience the Akbar ride.

DSC02404.JPG.f8d0b8887446643fdb5bdca4f9e90e97.JPG

Has anyone ever done this attraction before?

DSC02403.JPG.d3e00a4dbc85cbca9d08788e9f19b4ba.JPG

But we all know who deserves all the respect at BGT.

DSC02401.JPG.76b75069f89a918fddc37cb2c483476c.JPG

They had some horses as well.

This is the picture of a donkey I promised.

DSC02393.JPG.adcbba46d4619b20d17d99956eca46f6.JPG

Looks like all the important rides are open today.

DSC02392.JPG.71fd8af5507ab11dbd455ed4650fca06.JPG

Cool, they opened the side gate. First time I ever used this gate.

DSC02391.JPG.a691d35f97ae0ff36ffcf2225945ab28.JPG

We are all ready to ride some coasters. It was been at least 2 weeks now.

DSC02388.JPG.d3c7581791e552f964b58ed9ef4e7dd0.JPG

Ok, here is Montu. Plenty of coaster pictures ahead.

DSC02385.JPG.66620d1785cfb7f78e7cff151026dfa9.JPG

They raised the parking fee by one dollar.

Can you tell that there is a theme park about a mile away? Make sure you lock up your cars in this part of town.

Ready for more coasters??

DSC02465.JPG.e9b6cca678c0dc69150d2027701b1d81.JPG

Yes, I really like Kumba.

DSC02462.JPG.895f0f973d3d8d1302f28c9f3dc012ff.JPG

The cobra roll kicks some butt.

DSC02455.JPG.91f1650dc9f76535240d4ee826e4a380.JPG

Though the zero-G roll is pretty cool as well.

I think the dive inversion is my favorite part.

While Kumba has a MCBR, it does not distract from how awesome this coaster is.

DSC02446.JPG.809b4911be855a925f997b9578e51694.JPG

Derek has now got me in the habit of yelling "Vertical Loop!" everytime I see one now.

DSC02445.JPG.b1bd01b35a71f2a1f1450df7585c5225.JPG

OK, back on track.

DSC02444.JPG.76ab0efa718ab9b10bba6594c838fa50.JPG

Well they stopped the ride, while all this was happening (restraint question) they ended up adding another car to the track.

Effecient ride ops today!

DSC02435.JPG.939e7bac9b85bf4526f8402baa330ebc.JPG

I love skyway rides, but we did not ride them today.

DSC02433.JPG.acaab9dbbd32ab7c33ae93f672d1da6b.JPG

It looks like they added more track to SheiKra.

During our trip to BGT in July 2002, some of our group went to ride Kumba. I figured I'd ride it later, but when I was ready to head over there, I noticed a train stuck on the lift.

Needless to say, Kumba was down for the day. I should have gone with the others to ride it because they took four rides on it that day.

I went all the way across the country to BGT and rode it zero times.

But they have two new coasters that I haven't ridden, so there's definitely a reason to go back. And they have a sky ride, a rare thing in California these days.

This part is quite an amazing part of the ride. Upsidedown airtime.

They must have hired away Universal/IOA ride ops, because this crew was amazingly fast today.

I like how you can see parts of the ride as you are waiting in line.

Look how wide the coaster trains are.

I think the scariest part of SheiKra is the lift hill...no joke!

DSC02482.JPG.13b4bd806a928ba3ec04743db0c3c107.JPG

You have to climb up to a higher level to the loading platform.

Ok, lets head on over to SheiKra

Hey, we got to see another limo on our trip back.

DSC02527.JPG.4843ca181a60c8eaf57a38aebea08766.JPG

So we decided to head on back home early...which is fine by me.

We wanted to see Harry Potter on Imax, but they were all sold out. I guess we should have used Fandango.

They also wish you a Merry Christmas.

We went over to Channelside which is located downtown Tampa.

BGT and Wally wishes you a Merry Christmas. (Sorry Wally, we only spent $8 at BGT today.)

They almost pulled off a dueling dispatch of both the trains. Actually Tiger Gwazi was running well today, espeically the front car.

While this is a picture of the lion side of Gwazi, we did ride Tiger.

Great pics! I miss BGT now! I work there as a vocal coach, but currently I am in Roanoke, VA until Christmas eve music directing a show.

I also LOVE Sheikra! I think it just has a great combination of drops and thrills, and it is just long enough. I also love the way they can run 5 trains VERY efficiently. It is also cool how the entire lift hill up, all you can see is the vertical track going straight down, and there in no way to avoid seeing it!

Now if only they would re-track Gwazi and replace the trains with Millenium Flyers. THAT is what I want for Christmas!!

Thanks again for the pics and comments!

Nice TR Eric. How many days did you stay at the restaraunt? It seemed like it took two days for a complete meal.

Guy "That's my kinda meal!" Koepp

Heh heh. I think we ended up staying there almost 4 hours or so. Your right, you could stay there for days.

Is anyone else sick of Erik's Florida TR's?

Damnit!... I need to go turn up the heat.

Just kidding Erik. **Cough**Damn Floridians**Cough**

Yeah we really need to visit other parks sometime, maybe I will slow down on the Florida PTRs for a while. Though I really try to feature different aspects the parks with each visit. I focused on coasters this last post. Well, I guess we could do a Wild Adventures PTR sometime soon (A Georgia Park), plus we are planning to hit the Dania Beach Hurricane before too long. I have yet to go back to Sea World since they added rides.

I was just kidding Erik... I'm just very jealous of you... and your hurricanes

hee hee hee, yeah I figured. Though honestly we do need to branch out a little more than the Uni/IOA/Disney/BGT parks. I guess we go back to those so often because of our AP passes for em. Since Wild Adventures is technically my home park (by about 4 or 5 miles), I really should go visit it sometime. I have yet to go.
