Hi gang! We decided to hit Walt Disney World today in order for us to get a bunch of more NEW pictures of Animal Kingdom's Expedition Everest. I figured instead on keep placing links to that other theme park web site, why not go down and take a bunch myself. Anyways onto pictures.

DSC01940.JPG.e9799be29ad4d7733d3e4c4072eedf91.JPG

Look how nice it looks now.

DSC01939.JPG.f2589f825f82bd3cca950d44d02b1e2b.JPG

Man, it looks like the Yeti already escaped.

DSC01938.JPG.f094ba52dd047f2a744e6ea639510747.JPG

Leanne was very nice for not insisting on seeing Tarzan Rocks today.

DSC01937.JPG.b407108fe51dcc507bf14734b35b2ad9.JPG

By adding this snowman, the Dinosaur U.S.A. area's theming doubled.

DSC01936.JPG.1620aa57e65c3283c4d6bc15a48b8324.JPG

What's that you see peaking over the trees?

DSC01933.JPG.04e45f2d1e6b55a9536ad349cd279719.JPG

Here are some of the wait times for the day.

DSC01934.JPG.1990afcae1cf6e01cec508b03f01d39b.JPG

Animal Kingdom was pretty crowded today.

DSC01932.JPG.30076f720cf0afdbba7db29bafb17ab0.JPG

Just in case you already forgot which park we were visiting.

DSC01931.JPG.d08fa993c07257860e1c81bbf2e6bd4b.JPG

Was this ever a boat station for park guests?

DSC01925.JPG.485b61b74e60546803fa77a0fefed558.JPG

Ever wanted to see what it looked like on the otherside of that waterfall?

DSC01924.JPG.0ac1e2192af4b6966f177c7ac8013f34.JPG

You are greeted by some nice birds.

DSC01920.JPG.27626ddd2f6920e410ed33b5532da4db.JPG

After passing through the front gate you get to walk through a really nice area.

DSC01917.JPG.cb952efd64029ab509241045cab48d7f.JPG

More Christmas decorations

DSC01916.JPG.45fa59ded02003fdc26b256a5767913a.JPG

We don't even get inside the park before I am replaced by Tigger again.

DSC01915.JPG.26536d3a11df32039a24145d3121601c.JPG

As well as Elissa friendly rodents.

DSC01914.JPG.d4b40f80f348607f5e80e2826877104b.JPG

Hey we got to see a donkey.

DSC01913.JPG.ccafa5e250ba39e83c8f5555b35edadb.JPG

Maybe Animal Kingdom will give us an awesome Christmas present this year by soft opening you know what.

DSC01912.JPG.a066e7c473c9701596e5378b551fd05e.JPG

Having fun yet Leanne?

DSC01911.JPG.b81b3b9b445a6d74bc8fa9cb48cf63c3.JPG

Animal Kingdom looks like its going to be busy today.

DSC01908.JPG.846fe77badd7afa3761aa1b106e33a3e.JPG

It kinda looks like a warehouse with some sort of marshmellow stuff all over it.

DSC01905.JPG.1222f58908ccccd2f5fce4db1a3cd810.JPG

What's that you see outside my van?

DSC01903.JPG.97564bbfa0664b6200102536212648b9.JPG

Ok, we just about made it.

DSC01899.JPG.ef3bbd2f28dd43a7fe08e0247810ac6f.JPG

Since there has not been an orange grove in the area for at least 12 years.

DSC01897.JPG.95c4cb769cbdf5e7c4bddb6e6e8df4c7.JPG

They really should consider changing the name of the Citrus Tower to something that actually makes sense.

DSC01893.JPG.767ec8976bf2457ce95e35374e64ee4d.JPG

As much as we use the turnpike, maybe we should get one of those Sun Passes.

DSC01889.JPG.dbcb0b13c4757d84d24d911af26794af.JPG

Leanne decided to pick us up some breakfast before hitting the road.

DSC01886.JPG.42367ae91a9f360777b4c92f8496d7f6.JPG

I wonder if Parker Posey still works there.

DSC01887.JPG.fbe714c1443cd73244ece3dc84fbb113.JPG

Gas prices have gone down some over the past couple of weeks.

DSC01885.JPG.67812223731ece1dddc1da6a7fd8bdc2.JPG

Robb, I expect either a check or a transfer to my paypal account by the end of the week.

DSC01884.JPG.1bacb379cda009433014cf60196804b4.JPG

Leanne is all ready to go back down to Walt Disney World.

We continued to walk away from Everest, but it seemed to keep following us.

DSC01965.JPG.afebc45b63762b6d4baea0d49ee86fbe.JPG

Especially in the summer months.

DSC01962.JPG.ba3c677a2fda0621727c886efadcf26f.JPG

Again, this will be the busiest bathroom in the park in a few months.

DSC01961.JPG.d0d2439a85bbed4cc059d8dae9546752.JPG

As we walked away from the mountain they still had more theming.

Its the other side of the fastpass area. Once its finished you will be able to walk thru the other side.

So is this one as well.

DSC01950.JPG.4b339e5e5269cdbfdaad0fe89a905af7.JPG

The fastpass area is almost finished.

I wonder what area that is going to be?

DSC01948.JPG.c2cb3fea9ff54e31c8dfd0cc12bdda2e.JPG

More EE theming.

Some more buildings in the front of the ride.

This is going to be the ride entrance.

DSC01952.JPG.d1433020a861089d0c78dfa9603dc963.JPG

They did knock down some of the walls so we can get a closer look of the queue buildings.

DSC01998.JPG.d841a26deaddfc4a52c1ce3d05bb91cc.JPG

Boy that does look steep.

DSC02001.JPG.be606ddfcf6d358cd031830410d2680b.JPG

As well as the helix back into the mountain.

Check out the 80 foot drop.

Not as much dirt to move around now.

Oh my word, my wife and I still say to each other "or just grab a coke" in that Parker Posey accent.

Is that the actual stand?

Wow. The DVD extra of her monologue is worth its weight in gold. "Who's on top and who's on bottom now!"

Nice shots of EE -- I'm just waiting (down the street so to speak) for guest testing. Soarin's was well before cast member previews -- crossing my fingers.

Nope it was not the actual stand. But whenever I think of Dairy Queen I think of her.

Oh my god dude.Thats the first I've seen of the mountain since the scaffolding came down.

The whole mountain looks windswept. How many millions did this cost again?

You guys better let me know the minute this soft opens!

-Don

I believe 100 million at least.

More AK action that is not of Everest.

DSC02016.JPG.1c7620663c5e775db11508496967f3ba.JPG

After 90 minutes at AK, we decided to leave the park.

DSC02015.JPG.eb609d0cecb9b35b23c7675995edd22b.JPG

Ok, I am lame for liking Dinosaur, but Leanne shows her opinion for the ride. (Since she skipped Tarzan, I agreed to skip Dinosaur.)

DSC02011.JPG.db98841a0cc19ac88fe855518ca5a461.JPG

Are we having fun yet?

DSC02009.JPG.56159314df5b51502a779eea43584aad.JPG

Up the lift we go.

DSC02008.JPG.33fe9a3f81cd351b8b3f6467080689fd.JPG

These are the lucky people stacked behind us.

DSC02006.JPG.1cde440d2fceba434d7a556af3d10361.JPG

Wow! Even before we going up the lift the coaster cars are well stacked.

DSC02005.JPG.086a0658523b87a2a6258ffcd6ddd93d.JPG

Hooray for spinning mice.

DSC02003.JPG.1bd5fcbf225a453b3bf0eece4c9d3ed2.JPG

There are a lot of people waiting in the fastpass side...though it honestly took only around 5 minutes.

DSC02014.JPG.a7c8af64d965026b7fa7dfd6dbf1e55f.JPG

It's actually the fastpass side that we need the credit.

DSC02013.JPG.26420c4a4748cb137915329306b8cdb5.JPG

Maybe that is what is needed before we finally get that other credit at AK.

DSC02002.JPG.7eece699cd33e0104ec882e2cc600f47.JPG

Whoa! What is Disney condoning at this park?

DSC01945.JPG.cda101ce0d840e1402d49864bc42e9d6.JPG

We did walk by it again, but we forgot to look up.

DSC01996.JPG.b51845a1e07f737cadddc5f272f3235f.JPG

Ok, so some of my captions are not very original.

DSC01994.JPG.3acdbe27bd433ff21c79f716f2ff2d7f.JPG

We now enter the Clive Barker area.

DSC01993.JPG.3edafef0c4cdd8e8708237e91a179352.JPG

Nice bird house.

DSC01992.JPG.377619f19cdd52e8e84b6487362a3e32.JPG

It is nice that AK has a lot of bikes around you can use in case you get tired.

DSC01985.JPG.ced380dde4771131daa8dbda83f2b92e.JPG

Is that you Tigger?

DSC01988.JPG.a3b87682676ae8cc747dee5a146d2acf.JPG

I wonder what is on the other side of this wall.

DSC01986.JPG.07428b6bd0c61b725c1cbf80d23e5fc0.JPG

More elaborate theming at AK.

DSC01983.JPG.d763e1fc614fa1dd96eb0d14f6cd18e7.JPG

I wonder how often CMs have to re-draw all of these bats.

DSC01982.thumb.JPG.3ec4240dfc69dfb1a9c33d540568eaef.JPG

Bats are our friends.

DSC01981.JPG.83afd45a46656ad258a754abce9a1ce0.JPG

Its a rodent with wings.

DSC01984.JPG.dc07820a136033c0e45e499a3c3fecb5.JPG

Ok into the bat house we go.

DSC01979.JPG.4843f652dc0ff3018ea6cd22172a1962.JPG

I learned that Disney spends a ton of money on lizard areas.

DSC01978.JPG.81b0ec473898caa5a8367cebf7d34b3c.JPG

Then you grab a map so you can learn a little something about animals.

DSC01977.JPG.bc6a91f67c4f3e225b12603149098f66.JPG

After reading the sign, you walk into here.

DSC01976.JPG.3e5da8680f3dc5354c4ed9b4c043fd8b.JPG

Some cool jungle walk thingy we never have done.

DSC01975.JPG.71fa8de6fa34d9bd88d680f33f19ba23.JPG

Did I tell you AK was crowded today?

DSC01973.JPG.f4c2afafdfdc95a77890fe58a0f7d1f2.JPG

I guess they are doing some kind of referb, I really could not tell.

DSC01974.JPG.1454556bfc630f9fa3873071cee93067.JPG

After finally leaving Everest behind, we were greeted by this orange wall.

Yummy chedder soup at Canada. I had to get some more after our last visit.

Kinda looks like they named a food after Simba's father.

DSC02046.JPG.419a0e7ef58f4f7ac2c9ae5f66a4463b.JPG

Looks pretty good, though you got to pay money before they raise the glass barrier.

DSC02045.JPG.b9530c558281771f3596a43cbf588c81.JPG

Leanne was very happy to be able to get some Greek food. We missed this food stand last time we were here.

DSC02043.JPG.4a03ebed425e67f518618eaabff247f6.JPG

You can learn how to say "Happy Holidays" in many different languages.

DSC02040.JPG.c17aefb75e1ebf01ca69093cca3ccf55.JPG

LOL! Someone actually bought that shirt. I guess they are selling them.

DSC02038.JPG.7dc578fedc7bea650637770c50a33ed4.JPG

But first, it makes things a lot easier to use cash rather than a credit card.

DSC02037.JPG.3f3a68de4c51e5d405f8d173fed47c48.JPG

I can't wait to have some good Epcot food again.

DSC02035.JPG.cf887a2fb93a20259744366ae7493b44.JPG

They got the new sign up.

DSC02034.JPG.82daa62aaf633477e2c39e9c4f42493c.JPG

Its strange to see Epcot selling a movie featuring Darth Vader killing a bunch of little kids.

DSC02033.JPG.74d29f4acc3d01a7df9d8e95c081e461.JPG

Check out those balls.

DSC02032.JPG.34781a2e006bb551001becc3d5a89d93.JPG

Again it looks like the Disney is going for that racier edge.

DSC02030.JPG.e98f8b274d628daf1152a4051fff34e6.JPG

Well only 5 hours until we get to use them.

DSC02029.JPG.247e6afda80e2771db93e5adea25e630.JPG

We ran over to Test Track to grab a couple of fast passes.

It was the last weekend for the Food and Wine Fest.

Holy Crap! Epcot is going to be crowded today.

DSC02020.JPG.dcc607de0ec740971da26173dcf63e87.JPG

I wonder how much this guy enjoyed Animal Kingdom today.

DSC02019.JPG.68520a1308e8ec33a09e600738237b58.JPG

Onward to our car.

I guess if Soren ever comes to work for Epcot, he can work in the glasses store.

DSC02072.JPG.aea9dc9595b36e382eb9d65c24e745de.JPG

This was becoming a familiar sight for us today.

Did I tell you how crowded it was today? It looks like Epcot 20 years ago.

Some lucky TPR members will get to go here next month.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ok its starting to get intense in here.

Everyone all ready for launch?

Mission: Space really knows how to handle crowds well...unlike its next door brother.

"We Choose to Go With Goofy"

Come on guys, its Universe of Energy and Wonders of Life that need the "Future" updating. Not Mission: Space.

This is as close we got to ride Test Track. We did not want to wait around until 7:55, so we gave away our fast passes.

Here is a monorail picture for you fans out there.

Well back to Future World.

Its the cool globe barge thingy.

Boy I have never seen the World Showcase this crowded before, and most everyone here was local.

Anyone recognize this place?

You can even take them home with you.

Joy to you and me!"

Oh yeah, I forgot about the concert series. I wonder who is playing tonight? ..tension builds..

I wonder what the long line is for?

OK final update. Chicken Little at Downtown Disney.

DSC02109.JPG.9d373f12ddf9a965f2f12f1cf93edf4f.JPG

We wanted to wish R&E a happy 2nd wedding anniversary. Now this is the end of the trip report.

DSC02119.thumb.JPG.30b699ebf60081ffac4a23a18a082835.JPG

We are almost to the end.

DSC02116.JPG.78cb1f3b5faa9dc44703b53e687fa38b.JPG

They are having some sort of art festival going on, but all the artists have left for the night so we did not get to see any artwork.

DSC02115.JPG.786788063e57840b964dfdb598e66e9a.JPG

We did some window shopping.

DSC02114.JPG.ab8de322c33e62944de337b2b749e5a1.JPG

After the movie we walked around a little.

DSC02113.JPG.52b2bd55e516c2516e02249713c585dc.JPG

The movie was pretty good, but the 3-D was amazing. The 3-D was crystal clear sharp, even better than the theme park versions.

DSC02112.JPG.b5878d19cbce898d420e794422bb3520.JPG

A lot of people are going to be walking by this ad since AMC P.I. is the "official" movie theatre for WDW.

DSC02110.JPG.96f3d4d713e95bf20b863aa13030713c.JPG

They stylized the polarized (not blue and red!!) 3-D glasses after Chicken Little's.

DSC02111.JPG.95b6ee992f89f57a3f27ab47e3d1a71e.JPG

We wanted to go see Chicken Little shown with a digital projector in 3-D.

WOW!

That's one hell of an update! My connection on the ship isn't exactly what you'd call slow, but with all those pics it timed out over and over.

(Right click, show picture)

EE is looking particularly amazing. I especially love all the colorful "prayer streamers" everywhere. If you've read any books on actual Everest climbs, they are apparently pretty important to the Nepalese/Tibetans. It really is looking gorgeous, a real 'E-ticket' attraction!

Amazing TR you guys!!! Wow. I was totally 'there' with you on it all, the way you described it, and photoged it.

Excellent trip report. One of the best I have seen here, no shite.

Take a bow you two. And Leanne, I'm a pin trader, too! Have several groupings of pins on their individual, themed lanyards.

Faves are Scary Teddy from NBC/HMH, Triton from Littlest Mermaid. And the one and only true evil faerie, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

Wow, that was an awesome photo TR! It looks like you had a good time there! Expedition Everest looks amazing. I hope I can ride it next year! I think it is nice, to taste some food from all over the world!? How was the German food? Do you had apple strudel?

--Sören

Yeah I had the apple strudel, and it was pretty good.

WOW! I would of been so pissed if I was at Epcot. I hate crowds. But all that food might make up for it.

Is the Food and Wine Fest everyy ear? The same time of year?

Thanks Erik... for not wearing your Miller shirt

Yes its the same time every year. What is really funny is that Leanne and I noticed we only did two "ride attractions" the entire day. We did the Primeval Whirl as well as Mission: Space. It was not so crowded that we could not ride anything else (Except Test Track), we just decided to do a little exploring and eating instead. Yeah I only wear that Miller shirt on special occasions.
