Recommended Posts

So here is my little photo trip report of our, Karen and me, weekend at Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.

Since there is going to be a lot of photos posted, I’m going to break the thread up by days.

Enjoy!

After Dragster, we hit up Magnum and then went to ride my second most favorite ride in the park, TGIFriday’s. After Friday’s we rode just about everything that was open with very short wait times.

Good thing we got on. Because as soon as we got off, it was down again.

c19.jpg.e73953b05085ba7dab73b185d654c78d.jpg

Karen was just little bit excited about her first ride on Dragster.

c18.jpg.fd696164697f2c12c12927fddfacc29e.jpg

Then it was open again.

c17.jpg.c148ad0678b610d064c9c2327a7447fd.jpg

Then it was closed.

c16.jpg.24f6406d5b813ec9ae66f2cf4811bf19.jpg

Yeah! It's open!

c15.jpg.28e744c93b3e6e8be9e08ead8670bff4.jpg

You must be less than 48’’ wide to ride Millennium Force.

And actually, just to get right to it… I had no problems what so ever getting on MF.

c14.jpg.d7db90a9c2b2fb26f529e3e22b95484e.jpg

Yeah!

c13.jpg.fb80d7ca27172fc3c102c381b3ba5f5d.jpg

Uh... were not in California anymore Toto.

c12.jpg.3a6fc40cd7dae9e406137a4d8237eefa.jpg

Now that’s the scariest thing I’ve seen so far.

c11.jpg.965ae28c4816b6589070e77459fd7e8f.jpg

Alright, let's head to the park.

c10.jpg.b01305019cf0101ab6895dea5ae459ad.jpg

Across from Pizza Hut was the drive-thru for Cheesehaven.

c9.jpg.ea7233d0a0fe13a0446bc91379d86c99.jpg

The park didn’t open until 6. So we stopped for a bite to eat.

I haven’t seen an actually Pizza Hut sit-down restaurant in forever. But this wasn’t any normal Pizza Hut. It was Pizza Hut Italian Bistro. WTF?

c8.jpg.f3f070d3bdb24a15c73634b16cbf03aa.jpg

Karen and I left Gavin with Aunt Angie and Grandma, and we were on our way to Cedar Point.

c7.jpg.2097b32d0f1ac4742095b85e25240800.jpg

Then another surprise! My favorite ice cream, Graeter’s Mint chip. I was in heaven!

c6.jpg.af4b8d9aa00ff17dad6f42b39f02dd8f.jpg

The best thing out of Cleveland in a long time.

c5.jpg.b0d8c558de9be5b8e719b06e13e68fd7.jpg

My mom picked us all up and I was greeted with a six-pack of Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold. My favorite beer in the whole world.

c4.jpg.25b32bed7a455bd4c6ea83a1eadd8ce0.jpg

We could finally see the sun from the CRJ. We must be getting close.

c3.jpg.a6f44e9654fdff65aa111f9a11263fed.jpg

And... he's out!

c2.jpg.cffb0e6c7fd707f4937b6ec64d24fedc.jpg

The magical escalator ride at Chicago’s O’Hare.

Gavin's first red eye. He seems alright... so far.

The beer here tasted like beef jerkey. It was nasty!

It’s a tradition; the first stop at Put-In-Bay is always the Heineman’s Winery. A short little trip north of town via a golf cart.

Wow! Look what I found. An old Paddlewheel boat from Cedar Point.

The village of Put-In-Bay is located on South Bass Island. It is a 22 minute ferry ride from Port Clinton. Well 22 minutes if you take the Jet Express that cruises through the water at 30 knots.

I always feel at home when I’m on the water.

I spent many nights after work in that steak 'n' shake. I must say I can't believe how much I actually miss the town of Sandusky and Ohio. Anyway, yeah, that's pretty sweet you guys made it on Dragster. How did the Mrs like it Wally?

By the way, am I the only one that the Saturday pics aren't showing up for?

As staed before... I saw you at Magnum around 12:15, yelled for you, but you ignored me...

I didn't hear you man. Yell louder next time. We waited a while past noon, but didn't see you.

Sorry!

"HEY! WAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLYYYYY!!!!"

Danny "I was in the same seat as you, a loading after!" Smith

P.S. It wouldn't have done much good to meet you for long anyways... here's how I said it to my parents (prior to leaving):

"Hey, Mom, by the way, there's a guy from this site, Theme Park Review, that I'll probably be meeting up with."

(intermediate nagging, including "You don't even know him!" and "What if you get kidnapped?" )

"Uh...huh."

*crossing fingers behind back* "All right, I won't meet him."

However, what is a "Dortmunder gold"? Never have seen that. It looks like I have to taste it, when I am back at the US.

I'll have bottle waiting for you. Or maybe I can send one with Robb when you guys do the UK trip. Anyway, it's my all-time favorite beer.

Three things I miss about Ohio:

1) Cedar Point

2) Lake Erie

3) Dortmunder Gold

Sorry Mom

It was sooo great to be back at Cedar Point. I really miss that place. Except for the weather. Could have done without the freezing cold rainy crap.

I got to ride Dragster!!! Yeeehaaaw! It's a pretty sweet rush, loved the drop, but to be honest I like both Millenium and Magnum better. It was really funny that it kept going down, then back up, then back down.

We had such a great time!! Can't wait to go back. Is it time for Coastermania yet?
