Token Yankee Guy
This is the Knoebels & Hersheypark update, I am heading to Six Flags Great Adventure tomorrow and there won't be an update when I get back from that park since we'll be staying at my grandparents house tomorrow night and then we head home on Tuesday. Knoebels My friend and I drove down from Connecticut on Saturday and we decided to first hit up Knoebels. We got to the park at about 1 and the parking lot was jammed pack, so I said, "theres to many people, lets go straight to Langhorne." So we turned around and started heading away from Knoebels...but something was nagging at me that I must visit Knoebels. So I made a U-Turn and we parked and hit up the Flyers, Phoenix, Twister, HSTC, and the Skyway. Surprisingly, due to the the tons of cars in the lot, we didn't wait long for the rides we chose to ride. Centralia, PA This is a neat little town off Route 61 south of Knoebels. Surprisingly it wasn't that far and I wanted to check out the almost "ghost town" site due to the underground mine fire. Firstly, pictures don't do justice of what the area looks like. A side of a hill is completely charred and smoke is coming out of the hill side. Then we checked out the closed off section of Route 61 where they got the 2ft wide by 10ft length by 2ft deep fissure in the pavement. Hersheypark Today on Sunday, my friend Nick, Hunter, and I drove up to Hersheypark to meet up with Kip and his friend sean. While driving to the park, we saw amish people! I saw a horse drawn buggy on an overpass and then two big groups of amish women walking along US-322, it caused me to almost side-swipe oncoming army trucks who moved towards my side of the road to avoid hitting the ladies. Anyway, We got to the park 30 minutes before gates open and when we got to the gates there were only 30 or so people waiting to get into the park. When gates opened and we got our tickets, we went right over to Storm Runner which was operating perfectly. They didn't close it down to inspect it after what happend on KK or anything. I didn't even see it have any downtime! The line was right in the station so we rode it twice. We also hit lightning racers and the wild mouse before meeting up with Kip. We met up with kip then later on with his friend and we all hit up a few rides. At one point the guys wnated to hit Wildcat so I decided to ride on the slides right next to wildcat. Little note, don't lift your feet when cresting the hills, I managed to get airtime on the last hill and I crashed at the bottom a bit hurting my tail bone. At about 5 we all left; Nick, Hunter, and I decided to hit up Chocolate World and take the tour of how chocolate was made, and then we bought chocolate. I bought two bags of hershey kisses, a small candy jar of assorted miniture chocolate bars, and a 5lb hershey bar. So thats what we did so far, tomorrow is SFGAdv, now onto the pictures. I bought one too but I wanted to take a bite into mine the moment I picked it up. Beware, this isn't for the faint of heart of diabetics. Sorry guys, I didn't find the sugar-free goods. Nick bought two 5 pounders of Hershey's chocolate. superdooperdooperloopersuperlooper.....yeah, that got old quickly. Whats more gayer? The Village people...or the "Milk"men. My thoughts exactly Sean, Kip, Hunter, and Nick getting off Wildcat. Hunter (Front row) gets ready to be launched on Storm Runner. I am such a coaster nerd, I took a picture of the new queue section that took over the temporary queue on the access road next to SR. Sea Otter! Sea Otter! the nice entrance to Hersheypark Thats one big pot hole. Me posing against the warning sign infront of one of entrances to the closed off section of Route 61 the smoking hill. PS, if you put your hand towards a small fissure where smoke comes out, it will burn you. That stuff is hot! This is on top of a hill in Centralia, PA Nick is satisified and approves Knoebels. High Speed Thrill Coaster ownz all. Twister is also good Phoenix is a beacon of happiness It wouldn't be an update without someone licking the North Pole. And yes, my tounge was touching. a nice warm welcome at Knoebels
Jeezus Juice
Dude, you gotta take me to Centralia next time we come up. I love throwing crap in flaming earth fissures! Looks like you guys had fun while I sat here at work. Have fun at GADV, maybe Chiller will actually open while your there. -Don
Token Yankee Guy
^ Actually, I was told that the blue side of Chiller is supposed to open in three weeks or something, but I think the red side is still open.
CoasterFanatic
Thats one big pot hole. Nope. That is just a typical PA State Route Great TR. I still can't believe I never have made it to that underground mine fire thingy.

Jeezus Juice
Well, it (chiller) wasn't operating when we were there on friday. There appeared to be at least 3 maintence people working on the red train on the maintenence spur. This could have something to do with the valley robin had a few weeks ago. For all I know they may have been doing late daily checks and chiller could have opened later that day. We left at noon. With Kingda Ka down and chiller not open we decided to go to Rye Playland to pick up 3 credits we didn't want to pay for last summer. Have a good time, I hope Chiller is open for you. Meteornotes
One thing about Knoebel's is that the parking lot can be packed, but the lines won't be so bad, especially if it's a weekend. Most of the people are there for picnics, and don't ride as much since it's tickets only on weekends. Plus, Knoebel's actually knows how to operate rides to capacity, so even if there's a line, you won't be waiting long... dt
Token Yankee Guy
^ Actually, they had wristbands and handstamps for sale on Saturday on top of the tickets and such. Anyway, I am finally back home, took us longer then expected since we ran into 3 different Traffic Jams. One in New Jersey (3 lanes went down to one) and two on I-84 in CT (two lanes down to one for both). We also managed to transport the 15lbs of chocolate back to Connecticut without a problem. All we did was have all the windows down, blast the AC and we had the chocolate bars wrapped in a towel in a box with a bag of ice on top. Now that I'm home I can now do my Six Flags Great Adventure report so sit back and enjoy. Also, later on I'll get some video clips of around Centralia that my friend took and post the links for them hopefully later this week. Six Flags Great Adventure We left the house at a decent time since I wanted to get to the park at least an hour early so we could quickly get a Q-Bot Gold since I didn't want to deal with lines at Great Adventure today since I was told that lines were predicted to be more then an hours wait (which was true). So we got to the park an hour and a half early so we waited at the main gates until they let us in. They let us in and we got our Q-Bot (100.99 friggin bucks for two persons) and we went and rode Superman first. I'm going to keep the TR short since I'm tired, so overall... - Kingda Klunk (I'm calling it Kingda Klunk now since it went Klunk when it broke down, ha ha, I made a funny.) was closed - Lines were hour long waits - Chiller Blue was closed but red was open and I finally got the credit - We left around 4:00ish and wanted to get into the safari but it closed at 4 and it was 4:15 when we got to the gates for it. - And they finally got the train that got stuck at the end of the launch section back into the station Now onto pictures since everyone enjoys pictures. haha, stupid people waiting for Regular Q-Bots... I'm all like cool because I posed infront of the Six Flags bus. Kingda Klunk dwarfs all Temple of Tigers. SFGAdv sure went all out with building Golden Kingdom, and the rest of the park was really nice too. The park sure is turning around to be a great family destination. Kingda Klunk, the world's tallest eye sore. We were so close and yet we couldn't ride. That really sucks. Boardwalk Entrance to The Golden Kingdom You can tell how mad I was that Kingda Ka broke down before we came down.
