Anybody ever been on a roller coaster...

Postby Three » Tue Mar 22, 2005 1:09 pm

...during an earthquake?

I'm a Florida boy, so I have absolutely zero experiences with earthquakes, on the ground or otherwise. So I'm curious. For some reason.

Ride a vekoma for an earthquake simulation on a coaster. Otherwise, haven't experienced an earthquake on a coaster luckily although Grizzly @ PGA felt like it was ready to topple over.

Why do I still have a donkey title???

Mean Streak and Psychlone are excellent earthquake simulators.

Hmm, the boomerang I was on wasnt bad at all.

I also hear the Vekoma woodies are very smooth and their newest ride, Booster Bike, is completely heartlined. :)

I wonder...
if you were on a Vekoma, and there was an earthquake, would the two negatives equal a positive thus giving it a smoother ride?
personally, I don't think you could feel an earthquake on a Vekoma or Arrow.

Well, I'm sure sometime or another when I'm riding a coaster there is an earthquake somewhere....that should count I guess.

Anywhos, I don't think anything would happen.

If you ride The Swamp Fox coaster in Myrtle Beach, SC, youll feel its 50 year old frame about to pounce you out of your seat.

Other than that I love the ride.

I have never been on a roller coaster during an earthquake... but I have been on one during a waterspout.

I was on Magnum when I caught something grey churning up the waters of Lake Erie on August 15 of last year. When I exited the ride, I saw a more-developed waterspout, maybe a couple of miles off the Cedar Point shores! Thankfully, it never reached land... :)

I have to agree with angry_gumball because when I rode the Grizzly, it felt like it would topple over. It gives the coaster a cool effect1
