How many North American Wooden Coasters have you ridden??

Recommended Posts

I got 57! (45%)

I love wood coasters so much and I feel like I'm severely lacking a large part of North America's substantial collection. I think I need to spend some time combing the MidWest and Pennsylvania for the majority of the coasters I'm missing.

Also, it bums me out that Mexico City's wood coaster was closed last March when I visited...

Revisiting this since last February and my count has increased from 57 to 66!

I rode Lightning Rod, Prowler, Renegade, Adventureland's 3, Legend (Arnold's Park), Timber Wolf, High Roller, and Roller Coaster (Lagoon) in 2017!

After riding Mine Blower and Invadr last week I am down to seven remaining. Quite frankly, I don't ever expect to ride the Kiddie Coaster at Rye Playland and I'm not taking off work time from teaching to visit the Washington State Fair, but who knows

Gold Striker (CGA) *

Roar-o-saurus (Story Land) *

Switchback (ZDT) *

Oscar's Wacky Taxi (Sesame Place) *

Roller Coaster (Upper Clements)

Kiddie Coaster (Rye Playland)

Classic Coaster (Washington State Fair)

* I'm planning to ride the first four in 2018

I've only been on 7 out of the 126 wooden coasters in North America (The only wooden coasters I've been on so far). These include the following:

-Ghoster Coaster at Canada's Wonderland

-Wild Beast at Canada's Wonderland

-Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland

-The Racer at Kings Island

-Woodstock Express at Kings Island

-Thunderhawk at Dorney Park

-The Beast at Kings Island

I plan to get on a couple more when I (hopefully) go to Knoebels for the first time this summer!

While I was unable to visit Knoebels for the first time last year, I was able to visit the amusement parks of Western New York for the first time late last August, which consisted of Seabreeze, Darien Lake, and Fantasy Island. During that time, I had rode the Jack Rabbit at Seabreeze and Silver Comet at Fantasy Island. I opted not to ride the Predator at Darien Lake as it looked extremely rough!

So, as an update, I have now been on nine wooden roller coasters in North America. Below is my updated list of North American wooden coasters I have been on:

-Ghoster Coaster at Canada's Wonderland

-Wild Beast at Canada's Wonderland

-Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland

-The Racer at Kings Island

-Woodstock Express at Kings Island

-Thunderhawk at Dorney Park

-The Beast at Kings Island

-Jack Rabbit at Seabreeze

-Silver Comet at Fantasy Island

I plan to ride some more this year, as I will be visiting many Six Flags parks for the first time this summer with the Gold Pass I had purchased a couple months ago!

My North American wooden coaster count consist of:

Georgia Cyclone @ SFOG (Rode GC before the RMC conversion into TC)

The Great American Scream Machine @ SFOG

Judge Roy Scream @ SFOT

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The woodies below are ones that I rode long ago but I don't remember their thrill.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Grizzly @ KD

Woodstock Express @ KD

Rebel Yell @ KD

Hurler @ KD (like Georgia Cyclone, rode this one before the RMC conversion)

I think that's pretty much it for my wooden coaster count.

Here is an updated list of the North American wooden coasters that I have been on so far. Luckily I was able to visit five new-to-me parks this year, which gave me an opportunity to ride more awesome wooden roller coasters.

-Ghoster Coaster at Canada's Wonderland

-Wild Beast at Canada's Wonderland

-Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland

-The Racer at Kings Island

-Woodstock Express at Kings Island

-Thunderhawk at Dorney Park

-The Beast at Kings Island

-Jack Rabbit at Seabreeze

-Silver Comet at Fantasy Island

-Monstre at La Ronde

-Comet at Great Escape

-Thunderbolt at Six Flags New England

-El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure

-Phoenix at Knoebels

-Twister at Knoebels

My North American wooden roller coaster count is now up to 15 roller coasters! Let's see what 2019 brings!

I think I'm still at 21, or around that number.

But I believe the larger, majority of my wooden coasters

(50) are from continents other than North America.

And the beat goes on.

I've rode 13 (14 if you count two sides of dueling coasters) + 2 defunct:

Boulder Dash

Roar

Wild One

El Toro

Phoenix

Twister (Knoebles)

Flying Turns

Comet (Hershey)

Wildcat (Hershey)

Lightning Racers (Both sides)

Viper

Goliath

American Eagle (Red only)

Defunct:

Mean Streak

Cyclone (SFNE)*

*My memories riding this are very foggy. It is possible I actually rode Thunderbolt, or even both of them, but the few stray memories I have of whichever wood coaster(s) I rode make me lean towards Cyclone.

I'm only at 42 out of 126.

I’ve only up to 46 now.

However this isn’t including the defunct wooden coasters I’ve ridden. Counting those would put me at 54.

Defunct woodies I’ve ridden.

Avalanche

Georgia Cyclone

Gwazi

Hurler

Mean Streak

Rolling Thunder

Thunder Road

Twisted Twins
